Came here for my birthday dinner with my wife. What a wonderful and very aesthetically pleasing restaurant. The staff were amazing and very kind. They even wrote out a birthday card for me. Wife and I went with the Brie and Oysters for starts. Delicious, but personally the oysters were a bit small but they were delicious. The Brie came with bread and a jam that was a crazy good combo. Dinner was their vegetarian lasagna (favorite dish), duck confit pasta, and their truffle fries. Everything was cooked very well and was so filling we had to bring home leftovers. We visited The Fountain Room on a Thursday night, and while we were a bit surprised that the main dining room wasn't open (it's only available on Fridays and Saturdays), we opted to sit in the bar area. The main floor dining like a lunch vibe, but it turned out to be a cozy choice. For appetizers, we started with the cornbread after our focaccia was unfortunately not the best. Seemed to be over-proofed. The cornbread was absolutely phenomenal and a must-have! A special shoutout to our waitress, Arya, who noticed our disappointment with the focaccia and generously brought us the cornbread on the house. That kind of service is truly memorable! I also had the beets and peaches salad, which was refreshing but a tad overdressed. Still, I couldn't resist finishing the entire dish. For my main course, I ordered the lasagna, and I can confidently say it was one of the best I've ever had. It wasn't overloaded with cheese and instead complemented by mushrooms and pesto, and surprisingly light on the stomach. My husband chose the filet and rated it an 8/10, saying he thoroughly enjoyed it. We were so full by the end that we skipped dessert. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful, and the staff was incredibly attentive throughout our meal. The only downside was the atmosphere; coming from Chicago, we expected a more bustling vibe on a Thursday night. It seems Indianapolis is a bit quieter during the week. The Fountain Room is expensive, but it's excellent. It's part of the old Coke bottleworks building and the design of the restaurant is exquisite. I laughed though because the bar was playing The Muppet Show on the TV. lol The dinner menu is expensive so I went for brunch. (I believe their brunch is from 10am-2pm on Saturday and Sunday.) I ordered brisket hash (crispy potatoes, cheddar cheese, braised brisket, chimichurri, eggs, toast) and it was outstanding, although expensive at $24. My server was wonderful - just a delightful soul. The customers at the table next to me ordered chicken and waffles and their food looked amazing. read more

We were told that without reservations there wouldn't be a table available until 9pm, so we decided to eat at the bar instead. Thankfully, there was an opening for us. The bar area itself was really nice with an elegant ambiance, comfy swivel bar seats, and a more upscale vibe. I also have to mention the restroom because it was impressive. Very clean with thoughtful extras like complimentary mouthwash, tampons, and a vanity area. Small touches like that stand out to me. I ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and it was delicious. I would absolutely order it again. My husband got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccolini. He said the meatloaf was okay but not the best he's ever had. I tried the broccolini though and really liked it. For drinks, I had the Wildfire Smash cocktail which I thought was good and my husband had the espresso martini, and he said it was decent. They have all the choices of steak but the King and Queen options for prime rib was the path I took. It was top 5 best prime ribs I have ever had. The horseradish cream sauce that was served with it was also to die for. Make sure you have room for dessert because they have many options. I settled for the Grasshopper Pie which was an explosion of different flavors in my mouth. In summary, The Fountain Room stands decor and atmosphere but honestly the food is want you want in a high end place. I highly recommend The Fountain Room. We recently reserved the (semi private) Pemberton Room here for the rehearsal dinner before our son's wedding. The communication throughout the process was great and it made the planning very easy from start to finish. They offered several good menu options and were also very flexible (we wanted to omit veal from a dish). The food was well prepared, and the guests commented on how good everything was, including the excellent service. This is an upscale place and we were offers still or sparkling water. We placed order for drinks and passed on the appetizers the guys wanted to save room for the steaks. I was very undecided on the seafood options as the preparation didn't tease my pallet despite the great recommendation from the waitress. I ended up ordering the wedge salad and a crab cake. Both were good but didn't blow me away. I have had better crab cakes. The focaccia appetizer I ordered was good. The men enjoyed their steaks and the sides of corn casserole and whipped potatoes. Beautiful classic ambiance housed in a former Coca-Cola bottling factory. Seated at a nice table in the bar area. Started with a Coke syrup based Old Fashioned with a large decorative ice cube which was quite nice. Things started to go awry when our server in two different occasions shared with us certain bread selections weren't available. My wife enjoyed the tender prime rib, however, it was not cooked well done - twice. The fried chicken was quite good and juicy. Mashed potatoes were cold and the chili peppers in the broccolini were overpowering. The espresso machine was broken, so no lattes available and had to ask for coffee three times. We had a very nice brunch at The Fountain Room. Our first visit to The Fountain Room was not stellar but today was great. We had wonderful service and the food was amazing. The biscuit flight was great. The Hot honey was too spicy for any of us. My chicken and waffles were great as well and my husband liked his eggs, sausage and toast. Not the restaurants fault but some young ladies were taking photos and doing videos in the bathroom making it hard for other women to actually use the restroom for actual restroom appropriate things. We ended up getting there a little early, and asked if we could just grab a seat at the bar until our table was ready - they ended up seating us right away which was really nice, because I know they were busy on this evening! The place was festive with the perfect amount of Christmas decorations and cozy lighting. We each ordered a cocktail and the Brie brûlée. When I tell you this appetizer was probably one of the best I've ever had. It was so good we ordered a second one. For our mains we had the prime rib and the roasted chicken, and shared some whipped potatoes. All three were very good. Do I think they stand out against other places? Not necessarily. They were delicious, but the only thing that really set this meal apart for me was that appetizer! That alone will have me coming back. My husband and I went to The Fountain Room for a date night and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. We started with appetizers and every single one impressed us - the crème brie brûlée (brie prepared like crème brûlée!) was incredibly rich and unique, the shrimp cocktail was fresh, and the sliders were a perfect starter. This spot was really beautiful and it felt super special. We made a reservation without any issue several days before visiting Indy, I'm happy we got to experience this spot! We were sat upstairs and our server was great. We love to share, so we got the strip steak, burger, and Mac n cheese to split. The Mac and cheese was my favorite part of the meal! This restaurant is probably my favorite in the whole state, quite possibly in the whole country. I loved the meal. From the start of the evening, we were welcomed and the service was spot on. We arrived around an hour before close, so we were worried that we would be holding up the staff, but they were amazing. They didn't even seem phased and we were still out a little after closing. They were so professional and they did such a good job. Now, onto the food. Everything that I ate here was absolutely delicious. My wife had the lobster bisque to start and she loved it. It had a good amount of lobster in it. Often times I feel like restaurants are a little loose with the term lobster bisque, when really it is just lobster flavored bisque with no actual lobster. NOT THIS PLACE! They made a great bisque with a good amount of lobster! The duck confit pasta is probably one of my favorite dishes that I've ever eaten. So simple. So good. Something that I'm surprised I hadn't seen before. It was great. The hanger steak was also very good. It had tamarind marinade and everything just worked on the plate. It was a hanger steak that could've passed for a wagyu filet. It was perfectly cooked and perfectly tender. The Old Fashioned made with Coca Cola syrup was maybe my favorite part of the whole meal (except every part was my favorite part). They had such a perfect balanced blend of ingredients in that glass, that I wanted to swim in it. They know what they are doing when it comes to making a great drink. I'm sure that any drink you order here will meet or exceed all expectations. The decor was Christmas decor and they did it so well. A lot of places might get a little gaudy with their Christmas stuff, but this place kept it classy and cozy. I have to come back. I'm not even living in Indy anymore, but I will take the 4 hour flight just to get another meal at this place. The Fountain Room in Indianapolis is one of my all-time favorite restaurants and honestly a big reason I get excited to come home. The whole space is built like the art-deco library of your dreams. There's so much to look at, all done in pristine taste. Service was good -- nothing standout -- but that's mostly because the food completely steals the show. There wasn't a single dish I didn't enjoy. The brie with cranberry is something I actively hunt for in the South. It's drizzled with a little heat, topped with crushed pistachios... unreal. We split a Caesar and the mac and cheese and have zero regrets almost a year later. Still thinking about both. If you're in Indy, this place is a must. read more

Friday night date night at the Fountain Room. We had 6:00 reservations and when we made the reservations there were only bar tables available. There were booths and tall tables in the bar. When we walked by the dinning room there were only a couple of tables with patrons sitting at them. But when we left all of the tables in the dining room were full. This is the first time we have been to the Fountain Room. Our waitress explained the menu to us. She told us all of the popular items and her favorites. We ordered the shrimp cocktail for our appetizer. It was five large shrimp with a lemon and cocktail sauce. I choose the prime rib French dip with truffle fries for my entree. It had an onion jam on it but I could have taken more of it. It was sweet and really added to the sandwich. My husband went with the meatloaf. It came with mashed potatoes and broccolini. He was not a fan of the meatloaf. It was soft and kind of mushy. He would not order that again on a return trip. Service was great. Our waitress checked on a few times and was very friendly. They were also awarded one of the 50 most beautiful restaurants in the US. We would return to Fountain Room again. read more

The service was great, there were only 30ish minutes left for happy hour and they were so nice to accommodate us even during the short period of time. The decor was beautiful; I couldn't stop looking at all the details around. We ordered a draft beer and a house wine with the petite shrimp cocktail to pair it with. I almost wished we didn't have dinner plans after so that we could have ordered more. After giving this a try for happy hour, I am sure everything else they have is very good! The green beans were also a very unexpected high point of the meal. The burger was a solidly average burger. Unfortunately, I do not like seafood so I didn't try the lobster & crab dip or the crab cake but others in my group seemed to like them. The drinks: the strawberry margarita was great, although they were out of the garnish. We were told it was very cute but I'll never know. The service: it was just okay, I would have ordered a second drink but our waitress didn't come back for so long we were done by the time she came back so I didn't order a second. This is a great addition to Mass Ave and after my first visit I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. Had a Christmas dinner here with a group of friends and it was spectacular. This experience was a mixed bag. The positives: service was very nice, including the wait staff and the hostess. Truffle fries were cooked, seasoned and garnished very well. We'd love to have those again. Tuna Tartare was a solid dish. On the negative side, they had run out of barware so we didn't receive our cocktails until we were essentially done with our apps. Then our mains came and the cocktails didn't go with the mains so the mains sat there dying while we finished the cocktails. Our starter was the Beef Tartare and the meat was not prepared with much care. Multiple bunches of tendon fines making chewy balls and one nice big vein. One main was the Hanger Steak. It is marinated in tamarind and chimichurri which to me gave it more of an oxidized quality than a flavor enhancement. Also, the rear high top in the bar dining area needs a higher foot rest than what is on the chairs (like the other two high tops). Right now someone under about 5'10" can't sit back and rest their feet on anything. Sorry to say that we would not come back. read more

She took our drink and food orders and we ordered some breads and the crab cakes to start. Both were good but not great. Then we ordered our meals. Burgers, pasta, chicken, etc. The Wagyu burger was amazing! Would highly recommend. The pasta and chicken were also on point. This place did not disappoint! We wanted a nice brunch spot that we'd never been too and The Fountain Room hit the spot. The restaurant itself is so beautiful, and has that "speak easy" look and feel that I personally love. I ordered chicken and waffles and I did not need any syrup! That waffle was perfect! It was the right texture with the perfect amount of sweetness that did not require syrup (but they do give you some in a small cup). On a date with hubby, as we were in town for the motocross of nation. It was our first time in Indianapolis. We searched for a dinner venue on Yelp. Flipping through the list this restaurant caught my eye. And so it shall be. We arrived without a reservation and found two spots at the bar. We had two amazing Monkey Shoulder old fashions which left us wanting more. The crab cakes on thinly sliced fennel salad, flavourful and with quite a kick, the potatoe casserole delicious and the lobster bisque I highly recommend, although it could have been hotter. We came here after Wicked and they were playing Wizard of Oz to keep the vibe going! This place is so classy and beautiful with 1920-30s decor. The service was great but the food was such high quality we were astonished. Some of the best Mac and cheese in the city (yes I will say it!! And I get Mac and cheese at every restaurant!), super creamy! The crab cakes were fluffy and tons of ingredients. Cornbread came out as an entire loaf: perfect for take home or to share with the table. My boyfriend loved the Prime Rib French Dip - melt in your mouth with perfect crispy bread to dip in the a jus!! We love this restaurant - it's so worth the money.
