Fantastic Food and Welcoming Service at Battle Street Bistro! We had a wonderful time dining upstairs on the outside deck at Battle Street Bistro. The rooftop atmosphere is lovely and provides a great vibe for a meal out with friends. The service started off on a great note before we even arrived. They normally only allow call-aheads 15 minutes in advance, but Ella was incredibly nice and let us call ahead 20 minutes early instead of forcing us to hang up and call back later. The food and drinks completely lived up to that top-tier hospitality: The Food: The standout of the meal was definitely the shrimp and grits. Unlike traditional versions, they serve it over beautifully fried, crispy grit cakes topped with a highly flavorful Creole sauce, fresh corn salsa, and tomatoes. The textures and layered flavors were absolutely outstanding. We also ordered the shrimp taco, which was fresh and hit the spot. The Drinks: The basil lemonade was incredibly crisp and refreshing, and the pear martini was perfectly mixed and balanced. The only reason for dropping it to a four-star review is that it was quite hot outside during our visit, and the deck only had one fan running. A couple of extra fans would go a long way in keeping the patio comfortable on warmer days. Still, the staff was incredibly friendly, and we will definitely be back! read more

Dropped in for lunch ahead of the holidays and this was a great place to try! We luckily didn't have a wait, which is so unusual for Old Town Manassas, since I'm used to First Friday crowds. We just got some lunch, so just two entrees and sodas, but their drinks sound good too. I got the fried goat cheese salad and added grilled chicken. The chicken was a bit dry, but it was a delicious salad. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for Christmas and the service was good. This restaurant is cute inside and has a cute bar! The service is really slow on a busy Saturday but I think the staff was overwhelmed. Sunday brunch- group of 12. Sometimes places take a long time to fulfill large group orders however this place ran smoothly- no delays with drinks or food. Most memorable about this place is the cozy ambiance and the food- top notch. Reasonable prices for brunch items and highly highly recommend the French toast with I split with a friend (half pictured). The butter cake was nothing to brag about but we did order that to go. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely felt like an authentic French experience. Someone's poutin looked and tasted amazing (see pic). Many of the restaurants in old town are "cozy" and battle street bistro lives up to that. The walls are done in a warm wood that felt great for the space and all the tables feel intimate. The bar area felt a little over-large for the space, but the drinks were fantastic, so maybe they deserve to have room to work their magic. Our first server was great. Gave us lots of info about the menu and the owner/chef and made us feel very welcome. From there, we had a hodge podge of people coming to our table. OK only one other person kind of acting as a server, but still a bit weird to me to suddenly have a new person taking orders. I feel like if multiple people are primarily responsible for a table it means nobody is and the service as the meal continued on definitely deteriorated. Nobody was rude -- just big gaps in service. Our food was hot and cold. Literally. I had fish and chips and the fish was delicious. Really really well done. But the fries were ice cold and limp. I ate them rather than complaining because we were basically ignored until we were almost done with our meal. My wife got a vegan stir fry and had similar experience -- very tasty but cold. If it's a stir fry it should be served the moment it comes off the wok. We ordered an appetizer, but our mains came out before the app so we had them cancel it. We shared the chocolate turtle cake (made in house) and it fit the theme of the night. The ice cream was good and counter balanced the cake well. The interior of the cake was amazing but the cake was a bit over done so the outer half was dry. Other restaurants in old town are better (to me), but we will give this place another try in the future. We came here with high expectations for a good Sunday brunch and were totally and absolutely disappointed. The Bloody Mary' were so salty that I thought they were served with a salt block. We had the benedict and veggie crepe and are disappointment was only elevated with the limited menu and totally bland food. Totally an overrated restaurant with so many other great choices near by. Battle Street has been a favorite of ours since they opened. But in recent months, not so much. Customer service has taken a dive. I had one occasion when we wanted to order dessert and a meal to take home after we finished dinner. Waitress told me the kitchen was closed for the night. I asked why they didn't ask if we wanted anything else before they closed it, she just looked at me blankly and shrugged. I've had to send food back, I've had drink orders that take so long I'm done with my meal by the time I get it. The food has also declined, in portion and quality. A recent visit with friends just confirmed this place isn't great anymore. We had to flag down one of the two waiters/waitresses that were working multiple times to order drinks, get boxes and put tab. The manager was more interested in flirty with the waiter than anything else. They all disappeared into the kitchen multiple times at the end when we were the only patrons. We seriously contemplated just walking out. We had been ready for the check for over 20 minutes. I'm super disappointed. read more

We tried the Suzette and Chocolate Strawberry French toast - both of which were amazing and the portions were way huge. I stumbled across Battle Street Bistro recently during a recent visit to Old Town Manassas. I could not recall seeing the business before - so this morning I visited for the first time to check it out. It was around 10:30 am or so when I arrived. I was greeted and seated promptly. As I looked over the menu - I also was taking note of the interior of Battle Street Bistro. It's a very cozy, comfortable ambiance - with lots of dark woods with accents of brick and metal. The place felt very clean. After looking over the menu, I ordered the Quiche Lorraine - with a side of bacon - and coffee and water. The Quiche comes with a side salad - which added a nice fresh note to the meal. The salad was dressed with a tangy, lightly salty dressing - which was a nice contrast to the Quiche. The Quiche was tasty - but under-seasoned. I feel like they need to experiment a bit with adding more salt, black and white pepper, and Nutmeg to the Quiche mixture. The Men's restroom was very clean, modern, and well appointed. I asked the staff about how long Battle Street Bistro has been here - the young lady from behind the bar advised that they've been open a couple of years - which explains why I could not recall seeing it previously. It opened some time during the COVID-19 Pandemic - a time when I visited very few public places. According to the young lady - the space was previously occupied by offices. Service was excellent. My partner and I recently came here for the first time to enjoy weekend brunch, and were delightfully surprised by the variety of options on the menu. It's right in old town Manassas, so there's no private lot but we found street parking nearby. The dining room was small and we quickly realized that we were very lucky to snag a table as a walk-in as this place quickly became packed by 11:00 a.m. Service was prompt, friendly, and helpful and they made good recommendations for us. I ordered the Suzette French toast which was made with a really yummy homemade challah bread, orange cardamom butter, candied orange slices, and real maple syrup. It was delicious! My partner ordered the veggie crepe, and he thought it tasted really fresh. I noted they had a rooftop bar space, but we sat in the main dining room, which is centered around the bar, as it was winter time. I'd be curious to come back for drinks on the rooftop, but will definitely be returning for more yummy brunch! read more

This is the second time we have been here. The first time was for breakfast. It was good. This time was for dinner. I was very disappointed. I ordered the Greek Chicken. The chicken was dry and the rice they served with it was bland and dry. Their service was ok and the atmosphere was non existent. We also ordered the orange cake for dessert. I could not even eat it. This was such a cute last minute brunch idea for me and my boyfriend. The staff was so nice (and so pretty omg) and so kind. The food was pretty good but the ambiance trumped the food. The presentation of the food was great. I had the shrimp and grit cake . i was skeptical about the grit cake but it came out really good. It was kind of big for the amount of shrimp they give you. My boyfriend got a kids meal breakfast with eggs and bacon. Maybe we just weren't hungry but we barely touched our food. Their drinks were FIRE! We had a mimosa, a cranberry mimosa, strawberry old fashioned and a lemon and rosemary gintini. Went to this newly-opened spot in Old Town Manassas with my girl friends for brunch. It was a nice sunny day so we opted to sit at the rooftop - the heat became unforgiving but thank goodness there were umbrellas to provide some shade. We ordered Croque Madame, Traditional French Toast, and Vermont French Toast. First of all - please be warned that their servings are humongous! My friends and I were overwhelmed by how enormous our dishes are. I must also say that everything we had that day were very delicious! The service staff was fantastic - they were quite attentive and made sure that we got everything we needed. The prices were not bad - I can say it is affordable given the size of their dishes - two or three people can share a French Toast and not feel deprived. We arrived at 4:30 on a Saturday night after Thanksgiving and my friend was there first. I sat down and waited a while to order a glass of wine. Apparently they were serving the staff dinner at the bar which they were very attentive to. I ended up at the bar to ask for service and they gave me a taste of their wine. Went back to my seat and was never asked what I wanted. At some point one of the bartenders flick all the lights on and kind of shocked us because they were so bright. I walked over to the light switch to see if they had dimmers and they don't. The bartender said, " is there a problem?" I said do you have dimmers bc it's so bright. She said not that's just what we have in a very rude demeaner. Ok, so we ordered our food and then the Mediterranean salad came out and my friend and I were discussing how there wasn't a lot of feta cheese if any on the salad and she over heard us and said, " Is there a problem?" I said, can I get some more Feta and they brought us more. The food here is usually pretty good but the service has never been great. The bartender was in a really bad mood and was aggressive to us in her demeaner. Once she realized we were annoyed she softened up a bit but by that time it was a little late. This restaurant is one of the most expensive and I have never had great service here despite their prices. Really you guys? get your shit together when hiring people if you're gonna charge a premium. Next time I will go to Public House next door and get a great salad as well with more pleasant service and a bit less expensive. read more

I have gone here several times. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Manassas. It is a cozy local place in Old Town Manassas. The servers are friendly and attentive. The food is delicious. I alternate between getting their Black & Bleu steak or the Stout Braised Roast Beef. Both are delicious and come with croquettes--which wow, are unique and very good.
