We stopped here because we were driving through the city. We ordered many things which were all fresh and butchered in house. Some highlights were the burger (the best I've ever had), the trout (also the best I've ever had), the charcuterie board (delicious), and the beef tallow fries (also delicious). The service was amazing; the servers were very nice and the food was very quick. Wow! A friend and fellow Yelp Elite recommended Main Street Meats to me, and said if we dined anywhere during our visit to Chattanooga, it had to be here. After an incredible lunch here, I could not agree more! The location is easy to access with some free and paid parking options nearby. We stopped in on a Sunday around noon and didn't have to wait for a table. The building is part meat market, part restaurant, with fun modern decor and lots of natural lighting. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, though we opted to sit inside since it was already a warm day. Our server was great, and the food was just as wonderful. We ordered the pork rinds, grilled figs, tomato salad, and the burger to share. Every bite was full of flavor and made you want to go back for more! The tomatoes in the salad were lovely and fresh, and the burger was cooked to perfection and topped with housemade pickles and melty cheese. Chattanooga is a meat town. Main Street Meats seems perfectly content with that fact. This is a butcher shop that happens to feed you, which is usually a promising arrangement. Nothing arrives looking like it spent twenty minutes being positioned with tweezers. It's meat, bread, potatoes, pickles and sauce--the sort of food that requires napkins and leaves evidence. The Reuben is borderline obscene. A heap of deeply colored, tender meat barely contained between aggressively toasted bread, melted cheese and pickles. It's messy. It falls apart. You stop caring almost immediately. The turkey club is the quieter surprise. Thick slices of actual turkey--not the sad, uniformly circular stuff that's been haunting office refrigerators since the Eisenhower administration--piled onto grilled bread with bacon, avocado and enough richness to make the whole thing work. Then there are the potatoes: thick, fried rounds with crisp, dark edges and soft centers, served without ceremony alongside ketchup and a creamy orange sauce. Simple food done properly. There's nowhere for bad technique to hide. And that's really the appeal of Main Street Meats. They're not trying to convince you that lunch needs a backstory. They butcher animals, understand meat, make sandwiches and appear to take all of it seriously without taking themselves too seriously. Michelin noticed the place. The team was incredibly welcoming and shared that they're part of the same restaurant group behind Easy Bistro and Little Coyote, which immediately raised my expectations--and they delivered. Absolutely amazing. This was a standout steak dinner. Ordered the Niman ribeye and filet. We preferred the ribeye but both were so delicious, the ribeye just had than extra oomph for us. We subbed mashed potatoes for cut fries and broccoli and this was the way to go! The broccoli was so delicious, I love the char taste + Parmesan. We had two glasses of wine and finished off the meal with their chocolate gelato. I'll be raving about this meal to anyone who chooses to visit Chattanooga. Arrived on a Wednesday around 7 pm and the place was busy but I was able to sit at the small bar without waiting. Ordered the strip steak medium and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were tasty but the star of the show as expected, was the steak. It was cooked perfectly with a great grilled flavor and a little jus. We stopped at MSM for a quick bite on our way back to Atlanta after visiting Rosie Mae's. The plan was just a little teaser since we were heading home for dinner... but wow. There were three of us, so we shared one burger with fries (they're potatoes sliced into coin-sized pieces ) and each had a cocktail. Everything was delicious. We got a fun little impromptu light show since the fire station across the street had an emergency so that was exciting. We went big with the Bear Creek Farm 48 day dry-aged porterhouse, served with bordelaise & mashed potatoes. The steak was juicy and tender, although the fat could have been rendered a LITTLE more, but I still enjoyed the nearly perfect medium rare. The server also recommended the autumn squash which may not have looked like much but was delicious.it was a hearty meal for 2 - maybe lacking in some greens but one meal without greens can't kill us... We were convinced to order the PB&J Cream Cheese Panna Cotta - and even though we were stuffed it was a fun way to end the meal. It's been some time since we first visited Main Street Meats. The restaurant itself is rather small, though they have probably doubled their seating capacity by extending into what was formerly the sidewalk area. Their additional business is as a purveyor of fresh meat products, both to the local consumer, as well as some of the restaurants here in Chattanooga. There is absolutely no doubting the quality of their fresh meats. Since I was the first of our party to arrive, I spent twenty minutes or so relaxing at the bar, sampling a couple drafts, and swapping stories with the bartender, and some of the other locals. If I wasn't driving that, I would have sampled one, or maybe two, of those custom drinks. It was surprising just how many different whiskies they had in their small, but comfortable bar. MSM has the reputation locally as serving the best burger in town. Having enjoyed that burger during my first visit to Chattanooga years ago, before we moved here, I would agree. While for this evening I chose another entree, one member of our party was able to reconfirm just how incredible that burger still is. I chose the Pork Coppa, a cut of pork with which I was unfamiliar. It was served with cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, and a whole grain mustard sauce. It was absolutely, unbelievably delicious. My daughter had insisted I order the potato salad as well. It was most like a German Potato Salad, and she was right, it too was so incredibly tasty. I sampled her trout as well, another safe selection for those who prefer fish to meat. Our visit was on Christmas Eve, and we had three children between the ages of three and six. We don't know anyone that works here, get freebies, or have any connection to this place but man - we are in love with it. Tonight was a starter of sourdough with Brie and apple butter and hazelnut chunky slap your mamaw little iron skillet appetizer. They always have standard apps and then one like this - we have enjoyed the others as well but this one was over the top. Absolutely stunning. Friday is ribs so he got a massive plate with warm potato salad and Cole slaw. I got the roasted chicken and it was delicious. I stumbled on Main Street meats during a recent weekend in Chattanooga and had a really memorable meal there. The fresh cuts of meat in their display case let me know as I walked up that this is a place that takes meat seriously, so being overdue for a top-flight steak I decided to give them a try. They have a number of outdoor seats and it was a nice spring day so I opted for al fresco dining. The server (who was excellent) let me know they are serious about meat (USDA certified) and whiskey (there's a whole book for the 280 varieties on their shelf). For my order, since I like leaner cuts, I went straight for the 7 oz. filet and it was an excellent cut, tender and cooked spot-on the way I like it; the accompanying mashed potatoes were a perfect pairing. To go all-out I ordered The Vanderbilt cocktail which was pricey but really well done. The final bill was not cheap, but this is one of those places where the quality matches the price so I feel like the value was definitely there. This place was highly recommended to us by locals. I was looking forward to it, especially since it's locally sourced and grass-fed and all that. There's a butcher shop in half the shop, so I expected great things. I have to say I was disappointed in the steak. I ordered a ribeye for 2. It was thin, sinewy, and therefore overcooked in some spots while undercooked in others. It's hard to cook a thin cut well. I don't remember the sides but I think they were good. The place feels like a pop-up tent, though in kind of a cool way. Service was very good. Parking, as with most of Chattenooga, is a money grab, though this has nothing to do with the restaurant. read more

They were fresh and clean tasting, not hoggie if you know what I mean.
