This particular location of The Fresh Market is located in a nice shopping center just off of Interstate 10. It is convenient to both the locals who call Daphne, Alabama home and the travelers cruising down Interstate 10. The Fresh Market is a supermarket geared more towards a higher end experience, more of a food destination type foodie-driven kind of place and their prices reflect that (although they will run sales). What an amazing shopping experience here today. First time visiting The Fresh Market but it will not be my last time It's just so weird that I've seen these stores around and never perused them. Here in Alabama as a Hurricane Ida evacuee, I decided to buy some Rao's pasta sauce on sale. Yeah, I was making big mama spaghetti at the hotel lol. I like tomato basil as it's excellent for lasagna and penne pasta dishes. Bolognese, Italian sausage, mushroom & bell pepper and Italian sausage & mushroom are my favs. Haven't tried the vodka sauce yet but I will. I normally make my tomato sauce from scratch like in The Godfather but I was pressed for time lol. So, this store has a ton of organic and fresh food products. Their meat department has friendly employees willing to help you with any questions about the enormous display of meats & seafood and if you need need fresh cuts of meats, they got you. I love that they still have butchers in this supermarket. I also love that there's a mix of meats like crab cakes, stuffed pork chops, tempura shrimp, stuffed duck and salmon burgers. Oh and the deli is also desirous with all sorts of pre-made lunches and dinners. Everything looked so tantalizing The store is a bit pricey but I love the variety of foods offered and great quality items. Reminds me of Kings Supermarket in Garden City, NY. So, for the reason of my visit: Rao's was only $5.99 and I bought 20 jars...yeah, it's just that amazing plus it's like $9.00+ a jar at other local grocers. This is the only store that regularly has it for $5.99. Oh and I'm a tea connoisseur and they keep a large variety of that as well as coffee. This really isn't a store I can go to for full on grocery shopping, but the location is convenient to my house and I stop in occasionally to pick up this that or the other. "This" is typically meat, because they have great weekly specials on ground beef and chicken. For instance, chicken and ground chuck are $2.99 a pound every Tuesday in January 2019. You can't beat that deal at any other store in town. "That" is cheese. Have you seen their cheese bar? I'm enamored with cheese and the selection at FM does not disappoint me. I recently picked up a Brie with apricots, wrapped in phyllo dough, to take to a friend's party. It was one of the first things devoured and every lady there raved about it. It was a huge hit and not expensive at all. The "other" category is booze and sweets. They have a decent selection of beer and wine and they offer the mix and match six pack option. Anytime I'm doing girls night at someone's house, I stop in to pick up a variety of chick beer. It's as cheap, if not cheaper, than my regular grocery store. Their desserts are fresh and delicious. Sometimes we just stop in for a cupcake or mini tart after dinner. We occasionally pick up a pie or cake to serve when I don't have time to make anything. The hubs and I have loved every dessert we've bought at FM. The store employees are always friendly and helpful. The store is clean and well organized. Everything is easy to find, even if you don't shop there often enough to know your way around. The prices, at least on the items I buy, are no more expensive than any other grocery store. I eat a lot of Salmon for health reasons and Fresh Market is my go to place to buy it on weekends. The last two weekends something has changed in quality, thawing process or it has been sitting in water too long in the back. It was strange tasting two weeks ago and totally spoiled after two days in my fridge this last time. My dog Teddy loves Salmon and he immediately turned his headed away without a closer sniff. I would suggest you ask the seafood person if you can sniff the fish before buying. Maybe just a few bad batches, but I am out $100, so I'm going to try Aldi or SAM's Club. Groceries are too expensive and the guy who packaged my whole fillets had to know they were bad. That is the disappointing part. read more

I really like this store. I visited on a Monday. There is 2 bistro meals for 12 bucks on Monday. However, they didn't have salmon as an entree. I expect it is because of cost. I love this store as it's the closest I can get to sprouts and Trader Joe's as we have neither here.. This store is pricier but does have some good sales..and that bakery has delicious baked goods, my favorite is the deli with sushi, all kinds of cheeses, premade salads, dinners , just baked chicken, meats you get the picture..when you first come in the have beautiful flower arrangements , orchids etc..and interesting items you can't find in a regular grocery..I did buy lots of goodies ,and would have gotten more but I was limited on time today..But we will be back.. read more

This is in regards to your curbside pickup.... This is my 1st time doing this and although I do believe it has something to do with Instacart also it is still the responsibility of the store. I will never use it again and I will just come get things myself! All of my produce is unacceptable! I ordered sweet onions and was given yellow onions, the peppers I ordered were soft and wrinkly not to mention one had a chunk/gouge in it! The potatoes are soft to where you can tell they have been sitting there a while and some look as if they were dropped a time or 2. The rotisserie chicken is dry as a bone and doesn't taste good at all. Usually there is a little bit of juice from the chicken in the container, but not this one so my guess is it was grossly over cooked to begin with! Apparently the "shopper" didn't pay any attention to detail especially when selecting produce and maybe needs some training on how to pick proper items. I would think that maybe the cashier should take time to notice detail also especially if the customer is doing a pick up order! read more

It's hard not to love this chain. There are few places I know of in the area to find the fresh, dry goods, baked, deli, or sweets selection of The Fresh Market. A few notes about this new store: - It is a little difficult to get to if coming from the West - you can't get on highway 90 from the off-ramp of I-10 at Daphne, you might be ahead to exit on 90 midway across Mobile Bay. - When you walk in, you'll think you're coming in the exit. For some reason, they put the registers right in front of the entrance. - Half the problem with the above statement is that there is no sign on the door for "Entrance", so I thought I was in the wrong place and went looking for another door. The other one is definitely the exit. Point: the entrance doesn't look like an entrance. You'll be confused. Go in on the right and turn immediately right to enter the produce section. - It is set up with the deli in the center, the bakery and meat in the back, produce at the right and dry goods on the left. - If you've been shopping at the Mobile store (Airport Road) then I think you will be disappointed in some things - because of the smaller store size, they had to scale back on wine selection. Another problem with store layout is the dry goods are in two long, uninterrupted aisles. That means when people commit to the aisle, they have to walk the whole thing. Implication is that there is a fair amount of traffic bottlenecked in the aisles and when you have to reverse course to get something, you might be in a traffic jam. All that said, the store looks great. As usual, there are lots of free samples around, the deli, meat, dessert cases look stupendous and the produce is well-stocked. There are many, many products here that you will find nowhere else and it's worth looking around for an hour if you've never been to another store before. First of all let me say we are not foodies or health nuts or hippies, but we care deeply about food safety and food quality and things like no antibiotics no hormones and cage free mater to us as. As for organics, we buy these in accordance of pesticide risks in terms of quality we will spend a little more for fish if it is flash frozen or fresh frozen or in rare cases like with fresh market absolutely fresh and high quality First we will start with the good. Meat market, seafood and bakery are fantastic in quality and selection (too much selection - see below) Produce is great for quality and selection Overall the whole store has great selections and quality in each department Now the bad Space is the worst problem; the Isles are tight even when the traffic slows Prices most "just fish" prices Are fair for the quality but there not many great deals The same can be said for the meat dept. Produce ranges from fair to extremely high They have a lot of things like hamburger patties with mushrooms or cheese mixed in, or chicken with ham and cheese ( cordon blue) or fish rolled in almonds and these items are exceedingly overpriced and not gourmet, they are just time savers (barely) and a waste of space in our opinion. Again I must say that it feels like they skimped on space and used what little they have. The entrance / exit is pure garbage and completely congested and makes you feel like you came in the wrong way and can't get out without buying something Finally they put the register screens where you watch your prices about 6 feet away from you as if to say if you need to see what your spending then you need to make sure everyone knows it I can see where we will buy some seafood and meat here from time to time and even a few treats and they have good price on house brand organic milk oh and all house brand products seem to be of exceptional quality and generally fair priced for the quality Just our 2 cents read more

This place is definitely pricey, and I wouldn't recommend doing all of your grocery shopping here, but it does offer some wonderful options. In particular, I recommend coming here for their fresh meat, fish, bakery items, and wine. The cans and other items that you can get anywhere are incredibly expensive, relative to other stores (even publix). The selection is also incredibly limited and you are better off going elsewhere for a full grocery store. The Fresh Market really just excels with their fresh items (hence the name). The meat here is delicious, and the people that work behind the counter are very patient if you are indecisive. I also love going to the bakery for incredibly delicious slices of cake, that are also reasonably priced. They frequently have nice discounts, and it is always nice to get a treat. The bakery also produces the greatest banana bread in the history of the universe, making a trip to TFM is worth it, just for that. The store also has a very nice wine selection. The bottles range from incredibly cheap (4-6 dollars) to fairly pricey (30+ bucks). I honestly have not tried their expensive wines - out of my budget - but the cheap stuff actually tastes fairly good. I'm from a state where grocery stores can't sell alcohol - so I really enjoy having such easy access to alcohol. This has been mentioned by other people, but the front of the store, where the entrance and exit are, is very cramped. The registers are very close to the exit/entrance, which makes it hard to get in or out when there are a lot of people. Overall, I really like The Fresh Market, and I highly recommend it for some of your grocery shopping needs! read more

I have always loved fresh market because it is the perfect place to buy meat for 2 people. The made in store food is great and it is a good place to grab lunch on the go. Unless you enjoy hospital tasting food, avoid the parm chicken that you bake at home, the beef wellington taste great. The Daphne store should be bigger especially the candy and nut self serve section. When purchasing fruit here, you know that your apples will taste right, the oranges won't be bitter, and the strawberries juicy. Like others, I don't purchase seafood here because you can buy shrimp and other local fish fresh off the boat in the area. I have also experienced a situation at a non coastal fresh market in which something similar to grouper was being sold as grouper. (Real Grouper is a thicker piece of meat, this FM's version was thin and didn't taste the same.) I am also skeptical of "Fresh" Salmon in Alabama- everyone knows Salmon come from cold water. If you've been wondering where the fake back-up musicians from the Robert Palmer 'Addicted to Love' video are: they're manning the registers at the Fresh Market in Daphne, Alabama. This location has more frontline staff turnover than a $2.00 hotel room. And the overwhelmingly female personnel seem constitutionally incapable of making eye contact or engaging in even halfheartedly sincere conversation. It has always been thus. They're also allergic to anything that deviates from an assembly-line processing of goods: bar code not working? It's too much trouble to enter it manually so let's just make up an amount that's over the original amount. Did you REALLY purchase something in a glass container? I'll be hornswaggled if you think I'm going to wrap it in paper or even double-bag it, you... you... INCONVENIENCER, you! As far as 'Alabama R's' colloquialism-laden screed of 11/21/17 unleashing his pustulent personality on the shoppers at this store; everyone I've seen tends to be in a hurry to get what they need and get out. Much less sociable than shoppers in Publix and you can't beat the pretentiousness of the Fairhope Crowd. Perhaps he was stymied when he went in to buy his weekly seedless cucumber specimen. This store needs to get it together! This past Friday after our covid 19 restrictions lifted a little I finally felt comfortable enough to go to a grocery store. I haven't been out in a month in a half bc I have an autoimmune disease. Once I got there I was happy to see a sign stating that people can only enter with a face covering and a limit of 75 people total in the store for limits on capacity. However there was no one to monitor this at the entrance. Therefore anyone walked inside without face coverings and most people did not keep any kind of distance. There was no store mapping to help keep people apart and two check out lanes were right beside each other. The only thing they got right was that employees had masks on. If you want to be a business open in this community you need to look out for everyone and not just your bottom line. read more

Update. Prices have gotten so high I can no longer afford it. Service is still good but since they opened here everything is 40% more - at least for what I buy. My last visit I had a wrist broken (2 bones) and asked for help to get my purchases to the car but was told there was no staff to help me. I spent $110 for three bags so I won't be back. The food is definitely fresh but you'll pay more than Piggly Wiggly prices. I only come here for certain items. Their butcher will have what you need or want and the candy section has a lot to offer, my kids love it! I haven't tried much of their bakery but the pecan pie is delicious and is a must try! The 4 stars is due to their entrance, checkout lanes and prices. If they were to figure out these items I'd be an everyday customer. read more

I have mixed feelings about this store. Yep, the food looks good and is pricey, as others have noted. But I've been treated with amazing courtesy at time but other times with such rudeness I had to contact management. I haven't been back since one manger jumped in front of me with her apparent friends at the line in the bakery, where I was promptly nudged aside. I finally was able to reach an assistant manager weeks later (no one had called me, though they said they would). The assistant manager was great and noted some of the personnel changes that had been going on in the store. Sounds like there was a lack of leadership, but I think that's been addressed. Talked to someone else who had similar concerns about some of the staff. I'm sure I'll give them a try again and will update my review accordingly. read more

I am addicted to their cakes and cheese breads. Somewhat pricey, like a lot of their items, but delicious. Their coconut bread, has a longer name!, is really wonderful. Sometimes they have a buy one get one free...and I buy several. Yummy. Their produce is nice and fresh...also $$$. Their meat is really good and their specialty meat wraps and stuffings are good...saves you time but not money. I spoil myself once in a while but I could not afford to do it all of the time. I've noticed when they have some of their canned goods on sale, the sale makes the prices like other local store's usual prices. It is upscale if you want to feel pampered. while I won;t be shopping here for all my daily needs, I do like the meats, cheeses and the brands they carry. Yes the store is small, the aisles feel cramped, but the staff and the food is terrific. They carry Stonewall Kitchen products, which I love and highly recommend, especially their lemon and lime curds. YUM! Also neat are the crispy green beans you can get from the bins, or pre-packaged. My daughter loves to take them to school and share with her friends. I like the quality of the meats, and I do enjoy being able to pick up already seasoned items...just cook and serve with a salad.
