Stopped in on New Year's Day. Grateful they carry the extra salty pretzels I like. The store was half lit. It kinda felt like I shouldn't be in there...like it was closed. Had a "going out of business" ambiance. Got some prepared foods. We liked the deviled eggs and chicken potstickers. The fried chicken bites were awful as was the take and bake cheese pizza. I like this place! It's like a boutiquee-type grocery store with a lot of specialty items that you can't find at other grocery stores here in Southern Pines. Great coffee and tea selection! How well does this Fresh Market location watch over its customers needs? AMAZINGLY so! I believe the people here are so wonderful, I use to give every employee a pair of movie theater tickets on 4th of July and Christmas as way to say "Thank you!" Under the direction of managers Jonathan and John (no relation) they certainly go above and beyond servicing shoppers. Have been coming to this Fresh Market over 15 years and in all that time, can say the quality, selection, and assistance has proven to be excellent. Additionally when issues (which sometimes do come up) need to be addressed, they have always made it right with a smile. Its always nice to see familiar friendly faces that have been here as long as I've been a customer. The local feel and flavor comes across. Well stocked, clean, and people with a fantastic attitude, make this Fresh Market a cool vibe shopping experience. They carry sanitizing wipes, adhere to social distancing and employees are wearing masks. Parking is never an issue as the lot is huge. We purchased a Little Big Meal last night and have both been sick since. It was either the Salmon burger or the pasta salad that was absolutely swimming in mayonnaise. I have called the local number 4 times today & no one ever answers. So disappointing and very concerning to have both people who consumed the identical food ending up with food poisoning. I will be returning the remaining items and just hope that no one else suffers. read more

Have had 2 bad experiences in recent months one we later reported to manager which I didn't add to Yelp because I felt it was handled ( Involved deli service where my wife who is as far from aggressive and combative as possible had a pkg tossed to her after attendant who appeared to feel we were bothering her by asking her to wait us us) Last night stopped in for again some lunch meat and was told they had to close the deli at 6 ( it was 6:10) because the attendant had worked her shift and nobody came in to take over for the late shift. Hmm so their problem came my problem ... again No cross training from other employees to support situations like this?? Like this store, you pay more there which I don't mind for meats etc as their selection is quite good but that said when you are paying more you better be able to support that w above average service. Attempted to purchase a 1/4 Tiramisù cake. Counter clerk insisted they did not have one. Asked her to come around the counter and I would point to it. She complied and joined me on the display side of the counter. I pointed to the cake I wanted, and she continued to argue that they did not have what I wanted. I gave up and bought a chocolate chip cookie. Not a wonderful experience, I would have preferred the cake. read more

This has always been my go to grocery since I live in Pinehurst- there have been many food issues in the past year and I've just emailed fresh market with never a response! Now, I'm posting on yelp as I'm fed up with the quality of food vs the higher prices than every other store in the area! Thursday, I bought Strawberries that this morning- 50% of them were moldy! Pizzas bought for the sale price yesterday-- one was pepperoni with 6 pieces of pepperoni on it and we just added sauce and cheese it was so slim on the toppings. The second pizza purchased was cheese-- the crust was completely a mess.. cracked over the entire bottom and if there was sauce on it, you couldn't see it and again, barely any cheese.. again we added And patched! When spending $$$$ that fresh market charges, I expect the quality better!!! read more

TheFreshMarket in Southern Pines, NC is almost dead. It used to be a vibrant, well stocked happy type place. Not anymore. Now the shelves are mostly empty. Fresh fruit may be there, but probably not. It's really like it's going out of business. Today, there were three loaves of bread on the bread shelf and two looked stale. There were three -- and only three -- catfish filets. There were zero oranges, except for small, scrawny looking "blood oranges." The shelf supposedly stocked with 7th Generation bathroom cleaner has been barren for numerous weeks. Harris Teeter is eating TheFreshMarket's lunch. And it is all too obvious that TheFreshMarket doesn''t give a damn. read more

I only shop organic and safe food. Fresh market is usually my go to BUT the service this time was sad. The dessert place was very kind and hospitable. She was sweeter than my cannoli! Italian!!! BUT AT THE REGISTER WAS A DIFFERENT STORY. I will not name names because im a classy chick( as my emo daughter says) but the register girl didnt even smile. Which i dont mind. My daughter and I go to this Fresh Market only because of their selection of sparkling water and they are the only store that carries Saratoga Sparkling water. For about a month it was on sale and each trip we would buy 10-12 bottles which required separate bagging for each bottle. Until yesterday every single check out person was uninterested and just plain rude, but Krista (Christa) who did the check out was lovely, helpful and bagged our 12 bottles with gusto and a smile. The store floor is tiled with 15-18" square tiles so rolling a cart filled with glass bottles is a banging adventure. So, my 4 star rating is only for yesterday's check out person, not for their food selections or the facility. read more

Very disappointing visit. Drove in all this rain to get their weekly meal special. Supposed to be a quick pick up of all ingredients in a bag with a recipe. Asked one employee where it was located and she points to the area. Several ingredients were missing, so walked to the front where 5 employees were chatting. One returned with me to help locate the items. Oh, we don't have the recipe for the steak; oh, the fresh herbs listed are not included; oh, you will need a cart to collect the items. Its not Whole Foods or anything but, it's the closest to it in the area. Impressive produce section and fresh fish. I've also heard great things about the in house made sushi but have yet to try it. The only downside are the outrageous prices; however, you can always look into what deals and specials they're having during the week that can save you a buck or three. read more

This is the ONLY place I would shop if I lived closer. I have to drive like 65 minutes each way to get there. Fresh everything!! SPOTLESS store custom cut meats, gourmet deli. The bakery has the BEST creme brulee !! The Sour Dough bread is amazing. The wine selection is wonderful. I could spend hours in here and the store is small, really small in fact. The smell of delicious roasted chicken and herbs hits you in the face the minute you walk through the door even when you have just had a meal you will buy more food. LOVE the customer service. Yes it is expensive but you get the whole shopping experience so I shell out a few bucks so I don't have to deal with the .... ok I will admit it I LOVE not waiting in line while everyone in the line has WIC voucher and got the wrong type of Milk and Cereal. or is trying to use 45 coupons for 30 items... Very posh grocery store (similar to Whole Foods) with a wonderful meat/seafood section and inviting/ fully stocked produce section. Love the variety of organic selection all throughout the store. Great bakery with cookies, pastries, breads, donuts, muffins, and holiday offerings. Very small frozen and cold section with brands like Amy's, Organic Valley, etc. Loved our first trip. Many samples throughout the store; including wine and cheeses. Store was very crowded, but the local people watching was kinda fun. In general, this store is a nice place to shop. Bakery and produce are both good, somewhat overpriced though. I have one complaint - the chicken salad used to be very good, expensive but worth it. Lately the chicken salad is just chock full of cartilage! At those prices! Big chunks of unchewable, disgusting cartilage. Yuk! I used to go out of my way to get their chicken salad - no more! This place is AWESOME! I'd definitely shop here if I lived nearby. They had an abundance of fresh cheese, fish, meat, etc. Spices galore, wine galore, tons of breads & everything. Can honestly say I believe no sushi beats the fresh market sushi!!!!! Kind of sad to say but hey they got it going on. I also love how they have such a variety and selection of different kinds of foods and products you cannot find anywhere in our very country down home area. If you want to go eclectic check them out! I went to the Fresh Market for my Christmas dinner steaks because they have always had good meat. I got 4 ribeyes and a sirloin. They only had one sirloin and i ask if i could look at others, and the employee said not now. Really? I expect better service for meat thats over $20/lb. I then went to the produce. I picked up stuff for a salad without checking too close because Fresh Market has always had great produce. When i got home, the cucumbers had mold on the bottom and the grape tomatoes where almost rotten. Also, the lettuce was 2 weeks out of date. The steaks where not very good and the sirloin was tough and grisly. Not great for $23.99/lb. I spent $160 for a Christmas Eve dinner that was ruined. I have always gone to Fresh Market when i was in the area, but never again. You have lost a 20 year customer. The Fresh Market management needs to get control of their store. They are becoming just another grocery with high prices.. read more

I love Fresh Market and I tell everyone how great it is but today I saw and heard something that bothered me. I was in line at the bakery department waiting to be acknowledged when a young man comes up and one of the associates turns around and asks him in a snarky tone if she could help him. All the while she was eating something. He pointed out that I was there first but in wasn't in a hurry. She took care of him but the attitude. Maybe she was having a bad day but it would have been a good idea to just step away and let another associate assist him. Wide selection of better quality groceries. Definitely dig the beer and cheese selections. They also make a variety of foods there such as paninis, crab cakes, and chicken wings, that taste better than some of the local restaurants. Service is always top notch and the store feels lively. The only thing bad about this place is that it's small. If it were bigger, I'd be totally fine with going here instead of driving all the way to whole foods lol. Everything I've ever gotten here has tasted good. Like... Every. Single. Thing. And they also have vegan options which is so, so rare. Love the vegan chocolate and other vegan sweets they have here. They even have vegan options in the premade section - like veggie spring rolls and potstickers. Obviously they are expensive, but I guess the price of driving all the way to whole foods makes the more pricey products here worth it. Also, they have GREAT sales.
