Definitely recommend!
This exhibit is super cool for those die hard Friends fans! It was so fun getting to pretend we were part of the show.
We toured at 1:30 on 4/22
First you get to experience the famous opening by sitting on the couch in front of the fountain. The girl working here was really friendly, offered to take plenty of pics & had us doing different poses in front of the fountain. Awesome start of the journey.
Next we passed by a wall that had the infamous letter from Rachel to Ross where she had rambled on for EIGHTEEN pages...FRONT AND BACK! It was a cute little extra touch, but a very bizarre letter (yes, I read every word I could lol) that... If real...would DEFINITELY have had Rachel saying to me "you fell asleep?!?!?" because it truly did ramble on. It wasn't in line with who Rachel was as a character at all, didn't have the "Does it?" part at all. Nor did it contain any of the your /you're issues. Still...overall a cute extra that people will probably like if they're not obsessed weirdos trying to read it all like me.
This led us to the PIVOT! area of the experience where we got to recreate the scene with the immovable "come to me" couch in the stairwell
On your way to the next section there's a wall with Science Boy hanging on it where you get to see the adventures he goes on & how Gravity Girl saves the day. A cute nod to Ross's creativity before he was mugged by phoebe lol.
The next section is the guys apartment where you get to kick your feet up in Joey & Chandler's recliners. You gotta do it right though... 1-2-3 recline...ahhh...lean back...ahh.
They were no Rosita (I guess she moved ), but they did the trick. We also got to play a little Foosball while we visited as Hugsy looked on from the entertainment unit. Thumbs way down for the guy working this section. He either hates his job, hates his life, was high af, or like...all 3. He was not friendly AT ALL. Not helpful AT ALL. He took pics of us before we were even ready, so I just had my wife take some instead. Still, very fun.
After that you get to the girls apartment & get to hang out in the kitchen. Cute set up. You get to sit at the table if you'd like. The girl working here was friendly enough, but we learned that the workers are only allowed to take pics from certain angles. So she took one of us at the table & one in front of the door. (You're allowed to take your own pics from other angles though)
Also DO NOT try to ring the doorbell. They are fully functional & you will be told NOT to ring it. (Uncertain why they have ones that actually work just to have people say stop it)
There is a little set up after this on the opposite side of the girls apartment door that is the hallway between apartment 19 & 20. No stoop where you can eat cheesecake off the floor or cheer up pitiful cheerleader Rachel though.
And the finale of the tour is of Central Perk!
You can sit down on the reserved couch & sip your pretend coffee. You can sit up on the barstool & maybe get some pie dropped in your hood. You can almost hear Gunther informing Rachel of the tray spot as Phoebe sings in the background. You can sing a round of Smelly Cat at Phoebe's mic (which we totally did ) "thank you my babies" Kudos to KayKay who worked this section. Her personality was so cheerful & pleasant. She had a pose in different ways & was really encouraging us to actually be part of this experience. She was quite tickled listening to us sing Smelly Cat too. I actually went back to her to find out her name because she deserves the props.
(And... Gotta say, her hair was GORGEOUS zero to do with the experience, just saying...)
The tour is over at this point, BUT! There is an overpriced gift shop that awaits you. Cute stuff for sure, but save yourself the cash & buy it on Amazon. One lapel pin of the sunglass turkey was $10... Amazon I can get that pin plus 5 additional different Friends themed pins for the same price. It's fun for the kitsch, but not for the wallet.
All in all I thought it was a fun time, and didn't take long at all, under 45 min. I gave 4 stars because overall... Cool. Those minor details that were lacking, the guy working Joey & Chandler's apartment, and the overpriced gift shop knocked it down. read more
