Three miles off 65, but worth the drive to get a true Alabama cafe experience and excellent house-made food. The staff was authentically friendly and the owner was gracious and informative. The chicken salad was top-notch -- we bought some to go and enjoyed it for days afterward. So glad we stopped. Got to love the hat as well.

Great local owned chicken salad, ice cream, and sno-ball place! A must stop if you are near by and definitely worth a few extra mins of your travel time. We got to talk with Nate the owner and he was amazing and so nice. We had the pimento jalapeño chicken salad and a dipped ice cream cone and it was so good!

Why? Service was super fast , the older waitress was working her tail off taking orders, serving, and even running the register. I got grits, pepper gravy, and sausage . My husband got 3 meats (sausage, bologna and crispy bacon) (bacon done right not floppy), homemade biscuits, scrambled eggs, and the best farm grown sliced tomatoes. They gave my husband the tallest cup of sweet tea I've ever seen anywhere. They also have for lunch a meat and 3 vegetable plate or even veggie plate. We plan on coming back for that. Unfortunately the floor was a bit sticky by the restrooms and just one woman stall. Hence the 4 * rating. It's open very early in the morning while most everything is not . We were glad it was walkable distance from Cornell's auto shop. My husband's truck had to be regenerated. It's a diesel and the ash had clogged the filter ugh. So if you are looking for home cooking and zero frills then pick this one.

Also on the menu are fried mushrooms and fried cheese curds. Dessert options aren't great but the cookies are good, if a bit small. Drinks are tea and Coke Freestyle. Their sauce menu is not expansive but pretty nice. There is something for everyone. The inside of the restaurant was spotless and nicely decorated. They had a line at the window so I was glad I ordered online. I was greeted by a friendly man who checked for my order. It wasn't ready yet but I was about 7 minutes early so I browsed my drink options while I waited. If you haven't gotten the pleasure to use a freestyle machine you are missing out. There are so many options and if you have the freestyle app, you can make your own custom mix. Tonight I decided to try a Zaxby's exclusive: a lite Cherry Grape Blaster. It's a Ghostbuster promo. It's actually really tasty. I wish they would keep it. When my name was called, I was encouraged to go through my order, right there, and be sure everything was correct. It was and I was thanked and wished a good night. We got the Cobb Zalad, Traditional Wings and Things, an extra buffaloed finger, and a cup of slaw. The Zalad was nice and crisp, the chicken was hot and it had a nice balance of toppings to greens. It was very good. The Traditional Wings and Things come with five buffaloed wings, three chicken fingers, crinkle fries, Texas Toast, and a drink. My wings were coated in Sweet & Spicy sauce. I opted to get the fingers in sauce, as well, but I got them in teriyaki. Ranch comes with it but you can swap out for any dip you like. Let me be honest with you. Zaxby's has the BEST wings in the area. They are cooked to perfection and tossed in your choice of sauce. You get that nice bite that most wings around here are missing. My food was delicious. The only thing keeping this from being a five star review was that my extra chicken finger was not just cool but ICE cold. I had to wait on this order to be finished but had to microwave that finger and I live less than five minutes away. Literally everything else but the slaw, my drink, and the salad greens, and that lone chicken finger were piping hot. No clue what happened there. It's a first for me. I do recommend this place, despite the issue with the chicken finger. It's not common for them. The food is good and, the staff is friendly.

The chicken fingers were horrible, they taste frozen and were similar to a child's chicken nugget. I would not recommend these!!! The wait staff are friendly and very helpful.. She proceeded to take my drink and food order. Just seconds later she delivered my beverage. And mere minutes later my tossed salad. The lettuce and other veggies were fresh and crispy, the croutons crunchy. Then I had barely finished my tasty salad when Jennifer arrived with my steak and smashed potatoes! Smashed potatoes were basically Idaho potato baked with skin on and "smashed" good taste. My Ribeye steak was cooked just as I requested. Nice amount of char on the meat! Steak was delicious and only a scant amount of sinew found near the edge. My server enticed me with the offer of Banana pudding and I surrendered. The pudding came swiftly garnished with four or five vanilla wafers on top of whipped cream. Sadly actual bananas were non- existant only pudding. But it's ok. Overall I'm satisfied with the food and good service I received.
