I have always loved this bar but want to share some key points to help others feel confident to…read morewalk into this bar for the first time. 1. The employees are amazing and so so kind! They always have great menu suggestions if you are unsure, and are quick at making drinks, and bringing out food. I'd like to mention, I had a situation where I was being harassed by another customer but Eloy handled the situation swiftly and professionally. Easy for me to say after that, I have no doubt that this is a safe place. 2. They cater to different interests on different days of the week. My favorite day to go is Thursday for karaoke night, the DJ in charge of karaoke is so great and encouraging! 3. Inclusivity is a huge thing for the LGBTQ community, and sadly some LGBTQ bars aren't as inclusive or safe as you would think. BUT NO WORRY, Liberty bar has gender fluid bathrooms, and is handicap accessible! 4. Last but not least, the food is priced very fairly, and drinks are as well. Their signature cocktails are always a hit, and you can never go wrong with the potstickers. If it wasn't clear earlier in this review, I highly recommend this business. It's a great place to ice break on date night, or just come and make new friends in a safe space. It's truly like family here.

My wife and I arrived shortly after doors opened on a Saturday. The bartender manned both the bar and tables by himself, and was efficient and friendly. We started our meal with mac and cheese bites and fried pickles. Both were about what you'd expect. For our entrees, I ordered the "basic bitch" poutine, while my wife got the "Harlem Hanni" with a side of onion rings. Both the poutine and Hani fell short of my expectations. The poutine desperately needed salt, and the Hani was a bit dry. Like the appetizers, the onion rings were standard. If you're looking for a casual, fun place to get drinks and some bar food, I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here. On the flip side, Liberty is classified as a poutinerie, and the poutine was below average.

Unfortunately once we found it there was a paper sign on the door that they were closed that day. We were visiting Detroit from Maryland. Drove into Canada and to this location for poutine based off of reviews and the fact they were open on Sunday. Ended up drive 30 minutes to be disappointed and hungry.

In fact, last summer we took the in-laws who were visiting from New Orleans, to Eighteen 12 for their first poutine experience. My daughter is kind of basic, so she sticks to the original (sometimes adds bacon). My husband and I have tried a few of the more "dressed" varieties and everything has been delicious. There is nowhere to sit and eat (even pre-pandemic). It's a takeout joint. They certainly make you feel welcome while you are waiting for your order, though. We usually just take ours to the riverfront and dine at the park. They have a pretty good setup for phone ordering and pickup in the current pandemic too. Park in front of the door, call in your order, and they will summon you when it is ready for pickup. One person is allowed inside to pay and grab the order. Quick and easy!

Brooklyn street local you have finally won me over…read more I've been here several times but every time it wasn't my decision. When you have brunch with the girls it's hard to get a vote in and tbh I plan everything else we do so I'm happy to take a break on Sunday because I am god after all. Anyway I went on my own accord today. The service was beautiful. I really don't love having to order off of my phone because it limits the server to customer experience but despite that my server Mary made me feel super connected to her. She had great recommendations and knowledgeable descriptions of the menu. I sat on the patio with a nice breeze and minimal bugs. Seating was spacious and delightful. I got the brekwhich and it was soooooo delish. Mary could tell I was a freak so she had the crazy idea to put their locally farmed 3 berry jam on it. I told her it reminded me of that one episode of SpongeBob and I lost her :/. The savory plus the sweet was heaven in my heart. If he could he would, and apparently everyone's afraid of heaven. I also got my fav a BM (Bloody Mary). I didn't ask what mix they use like I usually do, I had faith. And I was right to do so. McClure's! MY FAVORITE TIED WITH VIVIOS! It came with a spicy peppery rim which was aight but that's not really my thing, I'm not that freaky! But I don't yuck anyone's yum. I also got the NEW lavender mimosa. Fragrant, festive and fastidious. It was a bright light that woke me up in a way only summer light is able to do. Angels are blinding, I hope Mary can still see because she took a peak in my heart to deliver the best experience. 10/10 will be back Side note I really don't get poutine for breakfast but I appreciate people sticking with brand. And I don't have to order that :)

I ordered the Vegan Breakfast Sandwich and was genuinely impressed by the portion size for the price, you definitely get great value. I also tried the Vegan Poutine, which was absolutely delicious and something I'd come back for on its own. With Detroit being so close to Canada, we don't have many poutine options. However, this spot really delivers for vegans looking for that poutine experience. The interior has a cozy, often busy vibe, and you can tell it's a well-loved local spot. We'd happily come back again to enjoy the food, service, and classic diner-style ambiance.
