But founder/certified instructor Fran Ahrens is so welcoming, patient and knowledgeable that any anxiety to begin something new is quickly replaced with excitement and curiosity. She is a true believer in Joseph Pilates' philosophy and fundamental principles and is an expert at her craft. While I would prefer later hours in the evening, that's a small criticism relative to the high quality and value I get here. Within the last couple of weeks I have been harassed by the LaGrange Manager (I think her name is Kristen) telling me that I can no longer keep my account on freeze status, and that I must pay $69 for my final month's membership. I was charged $69 in May 2022, while my account was on freeze status, but was denied a refund. Therefore, I asked the manager to use this $69 charge to apply towards their final month's fee. I was told NO. I was told I could use the sessions, but not the fee. I explained that I am still injured and unable to use the sessions, and that I have been out of work for 2 years, but not consideration on their part. Payment is required, no matter what. I have since contacted the BBB, as well as the Corporate Office in Boca Raton. I am extremely disappointed in their customer service and lack of compassion.

Aside from the overall vibe, I like that the people at Elite are upfront with regard to their pricing. There are no guessing games. Their rates are listed on their Web site. They also offer a ten punch card so you can try out the gym before you make a commitment. Those who workout at Elite seem to be connected members of the local community. I find that the clientele is friendly, respectful, and fitness-focused. Lastly, the gym is located in a very cute area of Western Springs. There are several local businesses nearby that you can visit before or after a workout. It's also important to note that parking has never been an issue for me at Elite.
