Great location next to Chippewa Square. I love how their salads and deserts sit in the cooler on nice china. Makes me feel real classy. We bought iced coffee, tea and a pastry. Really nice. There was a dog sitting on one of the tables. Lucky for that dog, because he was cute. However, the dog laying on the table was not - it just doesn't seem sanitary. Oh well. Hard to find seats outside, but people are so nice, they allowed us to share tables. Overall this place is pretty cool. read more

Gallery Espresso is the best coffee shop in Savannah. It surely beats any cookie cutter Starbucks on any day. The shop is warm and welcoming. Antique style furniture and large coffee tables give a community feel to the shop. The regulars here are friendly and lively, which is different from the 'don't bother me' demeanor from patrons at Starbucks. Art from local artists and SCAD students adorn the walls. The pieces are excellent and a different series is featured every month and is available for purchase. The drinks are delicious and the selection is great. They have 20-30 different teas as well, in black, green, decaffeinated and caffeinated. The menu is extensive too, with many wines, cheeses, baked goods and desserts. I realize the town is sometimes known as "Slowvannah", but this place takes it to the extreme. Service is painfully slow, usually one employee waiting on customers while others appear to be cleaning, etc. Today there was a long line while one person washed some dishes and another (who appeared to be the owner) wandered around wiping some things off while drinking wine. Slow service, employees with an attitude, and mediocre coffee. Avoid this place ....there are plenty of better coffee shops in Savannah! read more

I was mostly overwhelmed to think that I could drink in public (heart palpitations and the kind of tearing up when you see an American flag sailing over a foreign military base or auto race), so naturally I went for an Irish Coffee to go. Unfortunately, they must not have had a hard liquor license or something because I had something that was a coffee/wine liquer type liquor for an Irish coffee. It was good but not sufficiently boozy or whiskey tasting as a traditional Irish coffee. Nevertheless, it was expensive and made by someone who doesn't speak when they serve or get served, but sometimes you just got to let the work do the talking (it was a well made beverage, if you know what I mean). Nice decor. More victorian vintage style than hipster vegan. The baked goods looked very photogenic and properly baked. If you are into baked food blogs with lavender biscuits and that sort of thing, this should be right up your alley. Or Apple notebooks. read more

Cute, Hipster and Functional Coffee house with lots of natural light, lots of 4 seater tables with signs that read 'reserved for more than 3 people on weekend'. My friend and I tried their chocolate filled croissants and reminisced our vacation in Paris. Location wise, it is across from the chippewa square. Went here twice while on a trip to Savannah. You truly can't beat the tea selection! So many delicious loose leaf teas to choose from. They serve the tea to you in IngenuiTea steeping pitchers. This is my favorite coffee shop in Savannah. I dream about this spot. No, not metaphorically; I literally have lovely dreams about this place (or sometimes anxious ones where I can't find it). I love the bohemian vibe, the comfy chairs, the cooler than cool servers, and, of course, the coffee and pastries. It's cozy in the winter and peacefully cool in the blazing summer. So, this gem sits in the perfect location! Grab a seat by the window which overlooks the beautiful Chippewa Square for some great people watching, but after you get a drink of course. I was very basic and just got a vanilla latte, which I thought was great. I promised myself that next time I'm going to order just regular ole coffee, like the Bull Street blend or Flavor of the Day, because I heard their regular brews are delicious. I highly suggest you get a pastry to go along with your coffee. They have such a wide selection that it was actually really hard for me to choose. I ended up going with the cinnamon roll which was nothing short of amazing. Next time I'm gonna try a scone or the coffee cake. Although the coffee is great, what I love most about this place is the decor inside. They have lots of comfy chairs that when you walk in, you almost think you're at a furniture store. This is great for those days you just want to get out of the house and cuddle up with a great book and cup of Joe. For the people who go to coffee shops to get some major work done (like myself), this place has taken the time to ensure those with computers will be accommodated well. Many of the tables and chairs are located near easy-to-find outlets and the Wifi is very reliable. I had a business convention at Hilton Desoto which is a 2 minute walk from this cafe. Though I could've gotten free coffee prepared by Hilton's staff, I found myself visiting this cafe 3 times a day. Excellent coffee and pastry, welcoming ambiance, friendly staff. Reminded me of cafes I used to frequent back in my college days in Berkeley, CA. This place is 10 steps from a small park where Forrest Gump's chocolate box scene was filmed. The bench Forrest Gump was sitting on was a prop so it's not there anymore. I visited this place on a business trip. I had the day off and after reading a few other reviews decided I wanted to try it out. While the staff was not outstandingly friendly, and the line was long, I was served fairly quickly. My cappuccino was amazing. It was probably the second best I've had. However it was the stuffed croissant which is what I will 100% be coming back fro net time I am here in April! It was fresh and amazing. Not too greasy. So. Good. I would recommend coming in on the earlier side as they were certainly on their way to selling out at about 10:30am on a Sunday morning. The only reason for four stars not five is that I felt their system was not the most thought out. I ordered at the register and paid and the guy at the register then prepared my food and made my coffee while the rest of the line waited. Maybe that's why the line was long. read more

Tales of this cool coffee spot in town were the only thing that could lure me away from my Starbucks beans (especially when the Savannah Starbucks has a CLOVER!!), and I was not disappointed. Gallery Espresso has all the coffee drinks and pastries you could want, but it also has wine and other noshes, plenty of comfy couch and chair seating give it an inviting ambiance, and interesting art prints hang on the walls. There are lots of windows which are great for people watching and which also provide a lovely view of one of Savannah's many squares. This is an ideal spot to take a coffee break if you are visiting Savannah. I'm glad I went! read more
