Alright, fellow Yelpers, here are my thoughts on Gallery Espresso. I'll be honest, this is one of the harder coffee shop reviews for me to write because I'm a little torn. Do I think Gallery Espresso has the absolute best coffee in Savannah? No. Do I think it has my favorite atmosphere in Savannah? Also no. Personally, I tend to gravitate toward coffee shops with a slightly more modern feel, while Gallery Espresso leans more toward a classic, eclectic, and somewhat antique-inspired vibe. That said, I think judging a coffee shop solely on where it ranks in one category misses the point. If you're looking for a place to spend an entire afternoon working, reading, studying, meeting a friend, or simply relaxing, Gallery Espresso is one of the most reliable spots in Savannah. It has plenty of seating, mostly dependable Wi-Fi (though full transparency, it can occasionally get a little spotty), air conditioning, good food, solid drinks, and a comfortable environment where nobody seems to mind if you settle in for a few hours and get things done. In fact, despite there being a few coffee shops in Savannah that I would rank higher in specific categories, Gallery Espresso is probably the coffee shop I visit more than any other in the city. Why? Consistency. Every time I walk in, I know exactly what I'm getting. The service is dependable, the environment is comfortable, and it's simply an easy place to be productive. I'm personally a fan of their chai tea lattes, and their bagels are always a solid choice. You really can't go wrong stopping in here whether you're a local looking for a regular workspace or a visitor needing a comfortable place to recharge. I tend to be pretty critical in my reviews, so if anyone from Gallery Espresso happens to read this, I promise this isn't a criticism. There are a few places in Savannah that I think do certain things better. Some have more memorable coffee. Some have a more unique atmosphere. But very few places deliver the level of consistency that Gallery Espresso does day after day, and that's exactly why I find myself returning more often than almost anywhere else. For me, that's worth 4 out of 5 stars. I'm giving it four stars because while there are a few places in Savannah that I think function better as dedicated coffee shops, Gallery Espresso does an excellent job balancing good coffee with comfortable seating, food options, a productive atmosphere, and the ability to spend hours there without feeling rushed. When you take all of those factors together, it's one of the strongest all-around coffee shop experiences in the city. And sometimes, that's exactly what makes a great coffee shop. read more

I wanted to love Gallery Espresso. The location is perfect and the sidewalk seating is very cute. There are a lot of pros and cons with this one. Pros - The honey biscuit was SO good. Major points for serving actual iced coffee instead of cold brew. The iced coffee was incredible. Very strong. I normally drink red eyes and half a cup of this stuff will have you ready to run the city. Lots of teas if you're a tea drinker. Cons - The inside is giving what can best be described as hipster cat lady energy. It just felt a little dirty and chaotic. Some people probably find it 'eclectic". Skip the bagels. They weren't...awful... but coming from the Northeast, we're probably impossible to impress in the bagel department. read more

This is such a unique and eclectic spot. We walked out of our way to grab coffee and match and it was absolutely worth it! I ordered an iced matcha latte with honey and lavender for $8 and it's one of the best matchas I've ever had. They have a great tea selection and cute little gift options. I loved my experience here and my friends said their coffees were equally great. Would highly recommend! I'd say it's worth grabbing a seat if any are available to relax and chat before walking back through the parks. The staff were friendly and efficient. Delightful! The coffee here is fabulous, as is the food. I really enjoyed my drink as well as the bagel with lox that I ordered. The only downside is that there was no seating left on the inside--great for them and their business but alas I had to enjoy my order elsewhere. The Gallery Expresso is ideally located just off Chippewa Square in Savannah. Their outdoor patio tables boast views of the Oglethorpe monument in the square, but the interior of this coffee shop is the real treat since there's all kinds of paintings, decoration, globes, and knickknacks throughout (I wish they had more coffee shops like this with some personality back home). I went with a mochaccino and pecan coffee crumb cake that caught my eye. I would rate both a 3.5/5, as the drink was decent, but nothing out of the ordinary about it, and a little too sweet. I love food items with pecans when I travel south, so was expecting something deliciously unique with the crumb cake, but felt it was just a bit above average in taste. Service was friendly enough from the baristas, but they also had a tired look on their faces after the morning rush. While the location and ambiance are amazing, I was a bit alarmed that none of the food or drink items had prices anywhere on the posted menus. I am a firm believer that you have to post prices so customers can make an informed purchase decision based on the price rather than just go along with whatever is run up on the register come payment time. The total was a bit north of $12 for both items, so not overly expensive. While I'd probably check out a different coffee place in Savannah next time, The Gallery Expresso is still a solid option for those visiting the Chippewa Square area scoping out where Forrest Gump was waiting for his bus. read more

I wish I could take this cafe back home with me. The vibes are so cozy and as a tea enthusiast I loved there were so my teas to chose from and the generous amount of tea that comes in a unique diffuser. I first went on a busy Saturday morning and returned on a quieter weekday morning with my laptop and got to experience working from a sunny window seat with the music on at a comfortable volume. My only suggestion would be to deep clean or switch out the fabric chairs for more leather ones. Great selection of teas, coffee and baked goods. read more

This was an interesting stop. We stopped in for coffee and a quick bite. We jumped in the long line and waited and waited. While waiting, I noticed how chaotic the restaurant was. Maybe some would call this charm but it felt dirty to me. Furiture was very "worn" (as you can see in the picture under our plate) There were two young ladies working behind the counter who didn't seem to have any hustle. From the line to the counter it was about a 18 minute wait. (I think there were about 6 people in front of me) Upon ordering it was another 5 minutes or so. We ordered iced coffees and a scone. I thought the pice was very reasonable. The coffee and the scone were both acceptable. The biggest thing that turned me off was while waiting for our coffees to be made, the girls behind the counter, and a man in the prep kitchen area were discussing recent illnesses that they had. They were talking loud enough that we could clearly hear them, and they were discussing who was sick in their household and what was wrong with them. It was such a turn off for me because they were handling my food and talking about being ill at the same time. It really turned me off. read more

Adorable little spot. Funky inside and very popular it seemed. Staff was happy to help with deciding what to get and flavors as a first time visitor. Got an iced chai and it was amazing. My friend got an iced coffee and she thought it was ok it was a bit dark and she wished she got the chai like I did. Not badly priced it was approximately $6 for an oat milk chai. Some other places in the area had a huge up charge for oat milk but I thought they had a better value and quality in comparison to other places we tried on vacation! read more

Gallery Espresso is a fun and funky coffee shop located just off Chippewa Square in Savannah's historic district. As the name suggests, the shop has an interesting variety of art and art objects on sale throughout. They also serve wine, pastries, and light fare. My companion and I enjoyed iced coffees which were quite delicious. The pastries in offer also looked very tempting, though we did not try them. The atmosphere is excellent and service was good. The interior is a fun mish-mash of styles and furniture, and a comfortable (and deceptively large!) space. Outdoor seating is also available which was quite pleasant even on humid summer morning. This is an excellent spot a little removed from hustle and bustle of River Street, Broughton Street, and City Market. It is a great local alternative to the ubiquitous large coffee chains (and hotel coffee, if you're visiting). Definitely worth a stop whike you are in Savannah. read more

Very good Frappe, made correctly so when it was melting it didn't separate. Long line so they need to staff the busy times/days a bit better. Nice outdoor seating. They have a good problem for them $$ with the busyness but a sacrifice for the customers in wait time and limited seating. ......but it's always an issue with single seaters burning up a 4 top table. Stopped at The Gallery Espresso while on a hop on-hop off tour. It's located in a notable historic building at the south end of the popular Chippewa Square. The building is circa 1859 and has a long history of commercial versatility. The space is charming, cozy, and eclectic. There's plenty of seating indoor and out. When we arrived on a Thursday afternoon, most of the tables inside were occupied mostly with people working and/or studying. However, we found an open table outside. The staff was friendly and helpful. I'm a creature of habit, so I ordered my go-to, honey cinnamon oat milk latte. Since it was a warm day, I opted for iced. Hubs ordered an iced coffee and we split a dulce de leche bar. The coffee was solid and smooth. We really enjoyed our drinks. The dulce de leche bar was also good and not too sweet, but felt like something was missing. Great spot for a quick stop! I really like the interior decor of this cafe, although the furniture does look quite beloved...perhaps a little more rougher around the edges? But it's a lovely concept. However it's a crowded mess. Standing in line felt like I was on top of so many people who were lucky enough to find a seat, and the wait time was surprisingly not too long despite the discomfort of the line. About 10-15 minutes. However, the beverage I got tasted quite astringent and perfume-like yuck! I still finished it. I'm very confused about the pastries in a case in the line queue. This place was a lot to take in. Super quirky. But hard to walk thru with how close chairs were together. There were boxes and bins of supplies under a few tables that people sat at. It didn't feel special. It felt chaotic and I was glad to get out. So many flavors for drinks but they didn't have blue raspberry, which I hoped to have for my lemonade. I chose peach instead. We've always visited this coffee shop but it seems to go downhill each time. This was the worst visit. We waited in line for 45 minutes. There was probably 20 people ahead of us and the line moves very slow. We told the cashier twice that we wanted iced coffees. She started to gather our cups to make them and we noticed she had hot cups so we reminded her again. She said oh yeah. Well we got one hot and one cold. At this point we were over addressing it and just took them. If you're going to be this slow you shouldn't be messing up orders. I have not tried any of their coffee drinks but their in-house pastries and savory items are to die for. I love their brownies and have also tried their egg and cheese honey biscuit. The coffee, matcha lattes and desserts are to die for! The chicken salad on croissant is good too but sometimes a hit or miss on the freshness of the bread. The servers always feel rushed and mildly gruff but I suspect it's because they work so hard to serve the amount of crowds they serve in downtown Savannah. The lines move fast though so you will want to come by and check out this Savannah staple. I tend to come here because Savannah coffeehouses always close so early. I am also disabled and can usually find a close parking space around the park adjacent from the cafe. Don't forget to pay for parking though! I love coming here in the winter especially for the warm eclectic atmosphere and faux fireplaces. :) read more

A quick stop in Savannah to get our morning started. There were plenty of students here doing work from SCAAD and it's so cool to see them working on various art pieces. We kept it simple here by getting espresso shots (the best i've ever had actually!!) and a iced matcha latte. Both amazing. Food and coffee was okay, but nothing outstanding and a bit more pricey for average buy. Lox bagel (6/10): thought the side salad/extra toppings was an interesting choice, but felt unnecessary. The lox bagel was sparse with the lox, had very thin pieces of salmon that weren't filling. Not much cream cheese either. I got a latte with honey in it. Very watered down. Hot chocolate was lukewarm, but rich! Obviously both aren't pictured. Busy place, packed all times of the day, hard to find a table but if you do it's a nice place to sit. Cozy library vibe from the place. Oldest coffee shop in Savannah, but it's evident in their rusty skills and small area. I come to this place every time I'm in Savannah! It's usually my last stop before heading home. The vibe is so eclectic and down to earth, but it has that down south charm quirks and all! The only reason i've provided 2 stars is because coffee is usually good. I'm from seattle wa. I make a trip down to Savanah usually once a year for a week. And generally went to Gallery coffee. I asked for the same coffee every time. I always get a strange look my order is a black-and-white with vanilla I ask for whipped cream with a little on top of the lid. This year there was new employees. My barista misunderstood and told me my whipped cream on the bottom of my cup wasn't mixing in correctly. I explained to her that I didn't need my whipped cream at the bottom of my cup. She was gonna remake it . Is it her know it was a mistake. It's misunderstanding no problem. It's all gonna go to the same place anyway anyways don't worry about it. She was very upset about how I asked for my whipped cream. She told me that's not how we do things around here. I did tell her we had no problem doing it in Seattle. But I just left it off got my coffee and left. I sat down to drink my coffee and noted that there was no coffee in it. Or at least they tasted like there was no coffee at all. I think she got so flustered she forgot a coffee. I was gonna drink it. My husband wanted me to let them know. I really didn't want to. I was already so embarrassed over the whole whipped cream issue and that there was an issue over it. He insisted that I go in and let them know. I haven't gotten the coffee in the drink. So I try to be as polite as I possibly could and let them know there was no coffee. Ask them if they could fix the drink. The "acting manager "as she said it told me it was the weird way. I wanted my whipped cream. I was shocked! I took the lid off and I said I just wanted some right here pointing under the lid. And right here pointing on top of the lid. I wasn't yelling or rude. She told me that was it. She was getting my money back and I was not to come back again. I shocked! ! My husband couldn't believe it. . You would've thought I would've been rude or arguing and none of this occurred. I was actually scared to go in and let them know. They forgot the coffee. I asked for the manager she informed me she was the manager or acting manager. I asked for the owner she told me she wasn't working. I asked if I could have her contact information. She told me no. I asked what the owner's name was. She told me she wasn't going to tell me she told me I was not gonna bother her at home. I informed her I had never asked for her home phone number just her contact information. She told me that was her home phone number and I could not speak with the owner. I would have to try to find her when she came in. I asked her when she was gonna be in and she told me sometime tomorrow. I have honestly never been so embarrassed or mistreated Customer Service. My advice if you go to gallery espresso is to let them pick your coffee because if you get something that they're not familiar with you, make it thrown out. Service there was -5 stars. read more
