I would only ever drink in here if I was waiting on a train, no other reason to hang around. It's pricey and the food is unspectacular. Thankfully the bartenders are a handsome lot. That reminds me of an interesting fact that some of you may find useful. If you are the type that craves a drink on Good Friday then come here. In Ireland you can't buy alcohol on Good Friday but oddly you can purchase it on a train... We really are a wonderful little country.

Now theres nothing at all flashy about Brady's, which is kinda the point. This is no superpub. Its very much a local. Having said that its always busy and got a great buzz, with most of the local punters and older folks heading into the side bar. A refurb a couple of years borough the lounge up to date. The back room was opened up and the snugs taken out. Its modern and spacious and never feels too packed. The front room is a bit more lively and always busy on Friday and Saturday nights. This being south Dublin, expect to find the place wedged on a match day especially if Leinster are playing. Great for a pint any day of the week, or on your way out somewhere else on a weekend night.

Bradys is actually 3 pubs in one, with a lounge part, a trad area and a kinda more pub section, with a huge part covered smoking area. Food is served and I've enjoyed anything I've ever ordered, even tho I've had a burnt mouth one or twice! Blow on the food people, blow! They also have quirky evenings, including a chess night and a free Thursday quiz, really making the effort to keep patrons coming back, and I for one will continue to do so!

We asked the driver for a lunch recommendation and he suggested Nancy Hands. It was a good recommendation. It was close to a stop so we hopped off and had lunch. The restrauant is very neat with a cool vibe. We arrived about 1 p.m. and had to sit at the bar for about ten minutes for a table to open up. The restrauant is not on the tourist path (think Temple Bar area). We may have been the only non-Irish in the restrauant. It is rich in history and has a traditional Irsh look and feel. We ordered a couple of beers. Jan ordered a Blue Moon and I ordered a Carlsberg Pilsner. The beer on tap selection is impressive. For lunch we ordered a couple of items to share. Jan picked fish and chips, I selected calamari. Both were good and we enjoyed our first meal in Dublin. The service was good, the prices moderate. Definitely recommend it is you want a restrauant/pub that's not full of Americans.

I had the Guinness beef stew & it was some of the best I had on my whole trip. They served it with a generous portion of mashed potatoes down in the stew gravy so you can enjoy both with every bite. I definitely recommend giving this place a try especially if you want to get away from the louder pubs and just enjoy your meal.
