Bottom Line - felt like we were scammed!! Called the company on Thursday about our Garage Door that needed the chain reconnected to engine gear (slipped off when it was closed on our car - darn you random hail storm). Michael came over on Monday. He seemed nice enough when we were asking questions. The next thing we knew we were told that we'd need a new engine (which didn't make sense since the motor was still working and turning when clicked on) and that the amount of time it would take him to find the perfect kink in the chain to reattached would end up equaling the cost of a new motor ($650 plus tax). Our system was from 2001 but it still worked just fine. Logically, the time that was being estimated didn't make sense since the amount of places the chain could possibly link up to make the garage door function was no more than a 3 inch area. How does that equal 5 hours of work? Also, in an effort to open our garage the technician cracked our hand door opener; pushing the button so hard he cracked it. Feeling like something wasn't right we called 2 other places to come and look at our garage. Both of them said it would take less than an hour. We finally settled on Mile High Garage Door and they fixed it in thirty minutes and charged us $75 and came out the very next day to provide service. read more

My garage door wouldn't open. I was afraid that no one could come out right away. I called this company. A very nice man, Michael, came out TODAY! He unscrewed one of my sensors, cleaned it off and that fixed the problem. He didn't charge me ANYTHING!!!! Not even the trip charge. I've used them in the past for a more serious problem. These guys are total frauds. They're claiming to have never even worked on our door. They put in a spring that was too small for our door and it burned out the opener. We only found out the spring was too small when the person from Lowe's came to install the new opener. As soon as the door went out we called the number on the stickers that are in multiples in side our garage. They claimed to have no knowledge of the work and then when we decided to pay them to fix what they broke they offered a small discount. We payed over a thousand dollars to fix what they broke. They left and the door was squeaky as all hell and after a few weeks, of course, broke. We called the sticker again (they put up a new one the last time they came so now we have layers of their stickers in our garages) and they camout to "repair" the door. They arrived and blamed two other companies for the shotty work (I wonder if those companies know they're being slandered?) but agree to "fix" it. Guess what? The door makes a huge racket. We have a canceled check from them which they're claiming isn't from their bank but haven't even seen it. They also said they'd "never" charge that much but clearly did. They're claiming someone stole their company's information and is going around claiming to be their company and doing work in their name. They claim to only be two people but in other reviews I've read about more employees. What a load of malarkey! I'm getting closer to contacting the police everyday because apparently someone is committing fraud and took $1,200 from us and I'm pretty sure it's Mike and his company and not some unidentifiable stranger stealing his companies truck, tools and bank. I'm not fake in any way. I'm a customer. This is a pattern. And if you think you're going to get good service from these guys just look how they treat real customers with valid complaint. And I'm not fake. The owners are viciously psychotic and claim that I'm fake to discredit the terrible experiences I've had with them. We had a our garage door and opener go out and needed it replaced. We called Mike to come out and he gave us a quote and we waited until we saved up for the job. Mike is a nice guy and he honored his price. The only thing that keeps me from stating a 5 star vs a 3 star is the two gentlemen that came out to do the work were not too friendly. I have been in service for 25 years and I have worked for the past 19 years in customers homes, and I think that a smile and Hello, goes a long way, especially when the customer is spending almost $2,000.00. We heard that someone would arrive around 11 am and we asked for a half hour call ahead, the two guys that showed were somewhat nice but did not really say, "Hi" or look me in the eye while they shook my hand. We served them coffee, gave them a tip, told them where the guest bathroom was, kept our dogs away and tried to start a small conversation to break the ice. While I was scrambling to move my items, I did not expect them to help, but the older gentleman seemed to stand in the way, I asked him to kindly move and he did not seem to get out of the garage while I was trying to get them in the garage to work. Not much seemed to work with trying to be helpful to them. I was probably a little annoyed and hope I did not show this. We explained in advance, a couple of days before the job, by calling Mike, that we needed time to unload parts of the side of the garage and we needed a minimum of a half hour window, there was only given a 10 to 15 minute call ahead and they showed up an hour and a half early. I told them they were too early and they did not seem to care. This was a little stressful because of the weather and the snow, so there was not a way for us to unload the garage the night before. I would of preferred to know who was coming out to my house and would have preferred a two hour window. Again, Mike is a good guy, just think that the communication needs to be worked on and explained ahead of time who is coming to my home. I think it is important to small talk and make a customer feel welcomed in his own garage. Not sure I will hire them again. read more

I chose A Better Garage Door because of Mike, who is quite a "character" in a good way. None of the others had the technical details Mike did, and none had half the sense of humor. Six weeks ago I called this company because my door spring broke. The repairman told !e i needed a significant amount of work done and quoted $1,280. Instead stuck in the garage and the door was older so I agreed and paid that exorbitant cost. Last week the door broke down so I called them to come out. The repairman said he had no record of fixing my door. I pulled my online bank statement and showed him the canceled check made out to his company with the endorsement on the back. I also called their office while he stood there. Both the owner, Mike, and Joe, the repairman, denied ever having done the work. They had no explanation for the canceled check, but also didn't ask for information about it as I would assume they would be alarmed that if someone was doing business using my company name i would want information to track them down. Joe did some minor adjustments, but I still.have no assurance that the job I paid $1,280 for will last or they will honor any warrantee for their work.
