He replaced two springs for me for less than $500 and he guarantees his work, no extended warranty required. I had originally called Don's Garage Door Service and they wouldn't even provide rough quote range over the phone. Found out they were bought by private equity and are owned by A1 garage doors. Brian was super helpful and did a great job replacing a damaged garage door. The door that was being replaced was the single bay door for a 3 car garage and Brian found a matching door to my double bay door so I wouldn't have mismatched doors (or need to replace both doors). He also helped with framing repair that needed to be done and with painting the door, including matching the paint to the existing paint color. The price for the whole project was very reasonable. This is the type of business I want to support. One where calls are answered promptly, knowledgeably and professionally by the owner himself. Brian could fix my broken spring that afternoon, but I had to schedule my appointment for the following day because of my schedule. The next day, Brian arrived promptly and recommended a more heavy duty spring than what was on my door and that would last longer with the daily use this door gets. He also replaced some worn bearing brackets. Throughout my conversation, it was clearly obvious that Brian was extremely knowledgeable about the products and mechanics of garage doors which was based on years of experience. I have done remodeling work on my house over many years (I am not a professional), so I am somewhat knowledgeable customer in a situation like this, and can spot sales hype fairly well. I had 6 or 8 services bid the door replacement; several didn't visit the house and made the bid over the phone! These were call centers, one even admitted they were in Dallas. Several others sent sales people who obviously had no experience installing doors themselves (but had nice graphics advertising the service on their vehicle, lol!). I went with The Garage Door Works; the fellow that came to bid the job (Brian) clearly had experience installing doors (you can tell by the hands) and displayed zero sales bs. I watched the entire installation and was impressed with the work. One of the panels was scratched, they replaced it without hesitation, and left a can of touch up paint. Brian serviced our two garage doors and openers today including some quick repair work at no extra charge. The main 16' door was badly in need of service. It's much quieter now and operates smoothly. The other garage door opener was missing the remote so he programmed an old one he had in his truck and gave it to us. He was here on time and the bill was very reasonable.
