I drove my family to Palm Desert for the 4th of July weekend. The Gardens on El Paseo is an outdoor mall with nice beautiful landscapes. Very well maintained surrounded by high end stores like Louis Vuitton, Bottega Venetta, Gucci, Tiffany & Co., and so much more. It's two story level with a calm environment easily to walk around enjoying exploring around. There are also restaurants where you can visit to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I went when it was extremely hot weather, so we couldn't tolerate the heat. Therefore, we only stayed for like about an hour. The stores did have ac, but walking outside was unbearable. At least now I know where to go shopping next time I return to Palm Desert in more cool weather. read more

Very pretty shopping center with some very high end stores, stopped by in a very hot summer day so that was a bit rough due to it being an outdoor shopping center but it's nice that there is free parking in the shade in the parking garage. There is a mix of restraints as well and I stopped at a very cute wine bar for a snack that had great varieties to try it was a fun day shopping here! read more

From the front of the strip, you have the cute storefront of designer shops and boutiques. Then behind, it's the gardens. It's an outdoor desert oasis. A small strip that is centered of shops and restaurants. You can see some of it walking along El Paseo but once you're actually there, it's a cute little spot. There's some grassy spots for kids. The whole layout is pretty beautiful with all the desert plants and water features. Scattered are seated area for lounging. Some are covered which is helpful with the heat. It's a nice little spot for a break after some shopping and a day out. read more

I typically detest malls, outdoor malls included, but this one is an enchanting mixture of elegant open space, a great variety of unique and high end stores, and the grounds are sprinkled with amazing places to sit and relax that are especially comfortable. The variety of seating is a big draw for me for taking breaks while shopping, and they are typically located in spots that are great for people watching while somehow being off on your own. The fountains are gorgeous and the space is artistically designed. The stores that I love are too long to list. There is something here for everyone. read more

***This review is for parking use only*** I was in the Palm Desert area for a Yelp event. The hotel where the event was held offered complimentary valet parking. However, I did not want to use their valet service. I wanted to self-park instead. Luckily, the parking structure for The Gardens on El Paseo was right across the street from the hotel. The valet gentleman said I could park over there for free until 11:00 PM that evening. I said cool. I drove on over, found myself a spacious parking space, and parked. It was easy pezee. I was surprised there were many parking spaces available. I have never been to The Garden on El Paseo in the past. I will need to return here and check out this very high-end shopping and dining center the next time I am in the Palm Desert area. The shops and restaurants selections are very limited from what I can tell from their directory. Perhaps now I understand why there were many open parking spaces available. Who does not love the Gardens on El Paseo!? It has to be one of the most enchanting, relaxing, and pleasant shopping environments anywhere. Easy free parking in the back and anchored by Sax 5th Ave. Friendly, helpful employees. Within a few steps you can shop at Sax, Tiffany, and Gucci. Do you need to shop anywhere else? Agreeing with all reviewers who rated this Shopping District and 'The Gardens,' 5-stars because this is One major tourist attraction in the Palm Springs, CA. area. I would even just stop here for taking family pictures due to the extremely beautiful & architecturally designed 'Gardens.' There were definitely Lots of selfie opportunities here as well! The "El Paseo Cruise Night and Car Show" was fantastic time for car owners,car enthusiasts and the community alike! The event took place at The Gardens On El Paseo Shopping Center in beautiful Palm Desert,California.The cars started rolling in around 2 P.M. and there was a fantastic,eclectic gathering of over 100 cars-exotics,vintage,hot rods,classics,lowriders ,muscle cars and trucks! Car owners,enthusiasts and visitors were enjoying great fellowship and car talk! Then at around 4 P.M. the cars hit the streets for a great cruise on the boulevard.. When you go you can park on the second level where the cars are at and then walk downstairs to see the cruise- great photo ops here and throughout the The Gardens On El Paseo Shopping and Dining Center. We tried to go to Tommy Bahama's restaurant last Friday night with our group of 9. There was to be an hour and a half wait. It's one of the anchors of this upscale collection of shops, landscaped spaces, and restaurants, well-placed on El Paseo. As we walked by to find a different dining location, I was intrigued by the fountains, and subtle holiday decor. Luckily, when we returned on Sunday afternoon with just Dear Hubby, our niece, and me for lunch, we were able to get right in to Tommy Bahama's. After, we tripped around the back half of the center to enjoy the views from the upper level, plus the different plantings and hardscaped areas. It's tastefully done, as befits the highline tenants. They have their own parking garage, which is convenient. I wasn't so happy about literally tripping on the way back to said garage. There was enough of a height differential in the pavement that my boot caught and sent me flying. The inevitable landing was a bumpy one; on the pavement. Yikes! Other than that little mishap, I was impressed with the public spaces of this expensive oasis. read more

This is THE shopping destination in Palm Desert. Very tastefully done, all relatively new and in the same style. Most of the year it is just too hot too wander a vast outdoor space like this, making it a better option for morning or evenings. They have all the big name upscale designers as well as a few locals, art, jewelry and restaurants, anything you could want to do in Palm Desert is located in this area, a must see if in the area. read more

This particular mall is a head scratcher. The shops/tenants are high end, but the foot traffic seems to lack, so how do they stay open? Truth is, some of the doors are closed, and some list 'going out of business.' That said, my wife found several stores which she had to peek into, resulting in purchases. Mind you, we came here in July (hot, hot) so one must assume that seasonality plays a big factor. Don't get me wrong, the outdoor venue is well kept and offers a desert oasis landscape, which includes fountains, streams, cactus, and other eclectic décor. If you review the stores and see one you like, it's probably worth checking out as the merchandise is likely not picked over, and or, might be discounted based on the seasonal turn. As mentioned, my wife had no problem finding clothes. We thought the overall venue/mall was nice, with plenty of parking and a good vibe thanks to the well kept Bose outdoor sound system. We just wondered how the lack of foot traffic could substantiate such a business endeavor. read more

El Paseo is amazing. I've been coming here off and on for the past twelve years and it wasn't that eventful in the past but many stores have been added and I love it. Love the Anthropologie and other stores that have been added. It's clean, beautiful and upscale. read more

This place was sordidly disappointing. It looks fabulous from the outside but it really doesn't deliver. It has a lot of nice stores, and I totally thought it was part of another mall, but in the end it just doesn't have all that many things in it. The architecture and build is nice, and I was able to pick up something at William and Sonoma on sale, but other than that I was not impressed. It provides good shade on a hot, humid day. I think that's a pretty decent reason to come here. read more

What an incredible place to shop. So many wonderful shops you don't know where to begin. Fabulous jewelry shops, restaurants, shoe stores, cook ware, women's apparel, something for everyone. My favorite thing is to grab breakfast or lunch at Wilma and Fridas, a fabulous restaurant featured on Diners and Drives. Their BlackBerry French toast is incredible.. I love the shoe stores with their incredible variety of high quality shoes. So many choices, so little time. read more

Garth S. did a great job at describing El Paseo. I chuckled when I read that it is the "Rodeo Drive" of Palm Springs/Palm Desert. Yeah, right. Gucci, Saks, Coach and it's "Rodeo Drive" esque? I think not. Service was excellent in all the stores we visited. It's off season so there were no crowds. I bought 3 pairs of shoes at Cole Haan - seemed like they had everything in stock! Also, J Crew was packed with clothes and sale items - neatly lined on racks and very organized (as if no one had shopped here in awhile). I didn't see many of my favorite stores so we just spent a brief time here. read more

Saks Fifth Avenue, Brooks Brothers, Tommy Bahama's, Coach, Talbots, Williams-Sonoma . . . you get the picture. The Gardens on El Paseo is a mall and, given its location, that's a damned shame. Between Monterey and Portola, the buildings lining El Paseo still show the remains and influences of the pre-boom desert: white stucco, Spanish tile roofs, small arcades, fountains, second floors with iron balconies. The buildings might house California Pizza Kitchen, Starbucks, and BCBG but you can still walk down a main shopping street and not be confined to a two-story, climate-controlled, hermetically sealed box. It's clear, however, that El Paseo, the "Rodeo Drive of the Desert," as the boosters like to call it, has outgrown its roots. So what's a city planner to do? How does one attract new development without obliterating the reasons people choose to visit--or even live in--a resort area in the first place? No one wants to turn Palm Desert into Los Angeles or, worse, San Bernardino. A good city planner should be smart enough to figure out how to build without either destroying what exists or caving into developers' demands. From this perspective, I haven't decided whether the Gardens on El Paseo succeeds or fails. With its vague Spanish influences and rock and cactus landscaping, you can see that someone at least attempted to incorporate the design elements of both El Paseo and the desert environment, but it's still very much a traditional mall: a two-story rectangle containing an anchor store and a central courtyard surrounded on all sides by specialty stores. The Gardens, however, is outdoors. This is a major plus and it's possible in a place where the average annual rainfall is around a half-inch per month. That central courtyard I mentioned contains mostly grass, plants and benches, complemented by views of blue sky and the nearby mountains. Unlike many urban malls, which tend to have their back walls facing the street, the main entrance is right on El Paseo and there are no doors--you just walk in right off the sidewalk. Even better, the parking lot and garage are in the back. At least this mall feels like part of the community it serves. I can't say much for the stores: just typical upscale mall retail, clearly trending toward a middle-aged demographic but this is obviously what the area supports. El Paseo, the street, is where I go for an after-lunch stroll or when I just want to be outside on a beautiful day. The Gardens on El Paseo, however, doesn't feel like a destination but simply the place to buy something. It's pretty but I can't think of any other reason to go and when I'm there, I see no need to linger. I prefer the River at Rancho Mirage. It, too, is outdoors and nicely landscaped but the layout isn't as confining as the Gardens. More importantly, it has much less of a shopping mall feel, and with Border's, Century Theaters, Starbucks, PF Chang's, Johnny Rocket's and the Cheesecake Factory, as well as some smaller stores, there's a great chance that my presence might actually stimulate the economy instead of merely waste space and drain others' resources. read more

This is a great outdoor shopping center. You can start off with a fabulous breakfast at Wilma & Frieda. Then burn off calories walking around all the designer stores. Most stores have great sale sections and helpful staff. When you are done shopping head upstairs to Sullivans for one of their Knockout martinis. read more

The Gardens on El Paseo have done such a nice job creating a relaxing and beautiful shopping experience. The landscaping is beautiful and incorporates that desert resort feel. There are several great restaurants and I really enjoy the patio at Tommy Bahamas with the great 2nd story view of the valley, enjoying the coconut shrimp with a nice cocktail. On Friday evening we enjoyed nice entertainment while dining on the patio, some even got up to dance. The Gardens also offers many enjoyable events, one of my favorites is the outdoor concert series held every Saturday from Feb - Apr. they use the center lawn area complete with fountains and tropical atmosphere to create a very classy and relaxing evening. I also enjoy their partnership in with the 3rd largest Fashion Week in the nation along with the Food & Wine Show. These events have brought top international designers, stars from Project Runway to acclaimed chef's as well as Food Network stars. It is very nice to have such an active and upscale center in the desert, complete with Tiffany's, Louis Vuitton, Apple, Willams Sonoma, Brooks Brothers and Sax's 5th Avenue. read more

Desert Divinity El Paseo is a place of leisure. It is a wonderful part of Palm Desert one can enjoy outdoor shopping when the heat permits. Yes, you have your high end shops and restaurants, but honestly El Paseo has changed so much throughout the years. The new stores and renovation it has gone through has been for the better and has increased the standards for the Coachella Valley. I'm glad to see stores like Kate Spade and Lulu Lemon making it out to the desert. Loving the transition it is making and beyond proud! read more

The Gardens is a great upscale shopping and dining environment. It's just the right balance of upscale, yet with a relaxing feel, a unique and characteristic feel here in the desert. Aesthetically nice, with a contemporary feel, and free parking in a large structure in the back, those factors all make for a very cool and pleasant experience, whether you're shopping in earnest, or just enjoying the window shopping. I love going to the Loft, checking out the teas at Teavana, then heading to Sammy's for pizza! The Gardens has an annual concert series, and there are holiday events and other special events going on during the year. I commend the management team at the Gardens; I've worked with Patrick and Deja in the office on some special events during the holidays, and they are very professional, accessible, friendly, and pleasant to work with. With a few hours to spare on our second to last day in Palm Springs, we decided to go shopping at El Paseo. It was a great little outdoor mall. We hit up a few stores in a few hours. It was all the same chains that are available in Chicago. The real draw for us was that, in January, we could walk outside and there were some amazing sales. read more

It's hard to find a shopping complex that is unique. Sure they can be nice and have good stores, but a chain store is a chain store and soon you forget the difference between the malls and shopping center. Having said that, the cool factor is pretty good here. First of all, as you drive down El Paseo, you are conflicted on where to park since it is so long. When you get here, you will notice that it differs from the nice street stores. Parking is abundant and in a large covered garage in the back. Plus it's free. The stores/restaurants are placed on two levels in a nicely and ascetically pleasing manner. Gardens is a perfect title. There is a garden in the middle with some neat artwork placed throughout. There really isn't great shops in here, but the restaurant choices are nice. Plus just step out to the street where a plethora of nice stores are on the street. Perfectly located in the middle of Paseo and visually stunning; this is the place in town to head for your fancy shopping desires. read more
