I'm not going to lie, I was giddy thinking about the review I was going to leave for this place. My experience was that good!! I got to visit last weekend and experience their lunch menu. I've been hearing good things about this place but the menu looked simple so I was hesitant. Well it's easy to say I was very wrong about being iffy when it comes to what we were served. When we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly host who put us at a window seat which was really nice. I love having a view with my meal. The space is also very reminiscent of fine dining with the white table cloths, candles, and flowers on the table. It's also worth saying they have several lunch specials aside from what's on their regular lunch menu. Our server was also a very friendly gentleman who gave great recs when we asked. My friend got the French onion dumplings and she LOVED them. I got the brussel sprouts and with the accompaniment of the goat cheese and dried cranberries, they were probably the best I've ever had. I almost ate all of the huge bowl. I got the chicken sandwich for my meal that was dipped in a hot honey like sauce and it was also great. Very juicy and the ranch I got on the side was a great addition. I also got the truffle fries and they were super yummy. This is the nicest restaurant in Kernersville, and for good measure. Service and ambiance is exceptional. The Caesar salad is quite delicious, as was the lobster ravioli and the salmon. My one complaint is that the lobster was slightly overcooked. But the ravioli was delicious, extremely creamy and flavourful. Salmon was cooked to a perfect medium. First of all I have to race about how accommodating Maja was to fit us in on such short notice on Valentines Day! She genuinely loves her customers and cares about their experience in dining. It was a prix fixe dinner menu. We got the French onion dumplings which were tender and very flavorful. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and the shrimp were a great size. The stuffed salmon was perfectly cooked and stuffed with crabmeat! A potato gratin was so rich and creamy! Then the filet was so tender it melted in your mouth! Service was excellent and the ambiance is as always cozy! Don't walk but run to this place for any type of meal! read more

Honestly had really high hopes for this place. It could have been so much better with a few simple tweaks. Gaslight has a 4.7 rating currently (Dec 2025), so we were surprised at what we experienced. The staff at the door was friendly and the holiday decor was spot on, so it felt like we were in for a pleasant date night. We usually start with a cocktail and ease into an evening like this, but after waiting quite a while with no drinks in sight, we decided to put in our appetizers. The apps ended up arriving first and we had to ask again for our drinks. We ordered the warm mushroom crepe and the french onion dumplings. Both were highly recommended by our server and by other Yelp reviews. These dishes have so much potential. The flavors were great, but unfortunately both came out cold, not even warm. With the right temperature, they probably would have been great. For mains, we had the fish and chips and the lobster ravioli. The chips were perfect (hot, fresh, crunchy), but the fish was overcooked and dry. The lobster ravioli is truly a five star dish. Packed with lobster, tender ravioli, and a decadent sherry lobster cream sauce. Unfortunately, my wife bit down on a hard shell that was left in the dish. While my wife finished her ravioli, I was still enjoying the shoestring chips when the waiter came over and handed her a dessert menu before I was done eating. Another small timing misstep in an evening that already had a few. Overall, between cold food, overcooked fish, a lobster shell in the dish, and service that felt a bit out of sync, the experience fell short for a $170 date night. That said, the menu here really has potential. We want to give it another try and hope for a much better experience next time. My wife and I came to Kernersville, NC for the first time to check it out, and The Gaslight was the only restaurant we tried, and it was a great pick! We came in without a reservation for dinner on a Saturday evening, and we were lucky to be seated right away. We were greeted by a very friendly hostress with a wonderful smile. The entire space and common areas were welcoming, easy to walk in, clean and comfortable. (Side note: This is not one of those restaurats where your clothes end up smelling like food at the end of your experience.). Also, our waitress, Heather, was fantastic! She was professional, friendly and helpful. This is a restaurant offering New American options, so the menu is not that exotic and has options you'd be familiar with but does offer delicious fusions. We tried the Fried Goat Cheese & Beet Salad, the Sweet Corn Risotto with added chicken, French Onion Dumplings and a seasonal special: Arepas with shaved BBQ meat. For dessert we went for the Pumpkin Crème Brûlée. Everything was delicious! There is a full bar and the drink menu offers all kinds of cocktails, and a few options of wine and beer. We I tried a coupe of sweet cocktails, and they were great! Gaslight on Main is in downtown Kernersville, which is about 15 minutes drive time from Winston-Salem. It is located in a cozy and cute strip with other small businesses around. The entire building has a shared free parking lot with quite a few spaces. Final thought: This is a fantastic and sopisticated place for a date, business meal or a special occasion involving adults; I would not recommend it for families with small children. We had a nice meal at this newish addition to the Kville area dining scene. Everything went well. The meals were creative and different from most restaurants I have been in. The specialty drinks were all unusually appealing. To start off I ordered the Ginger Snap to drink. It was really super. It had orange, hazelnut and other wonderful flavors in a body of ginger beer. I would order it again, so good. It did have a bit of a price shock at $12 but I really enjoyed it. For dinner I ordered Risotto w a grilled chicken add on. It was quite good and pretty to view. It was a bit thicker than I would prefer but flavorful. Our food arrived a bit slow but not bad for serving 12 of us. I was wondering if their food was made to order since it took some time to get all of our meals out to us but I think most folks didn't mind the wait. We were a little uncomfortable with our seating arrangements as we were put in a small private room at the back of the restaurant and we weren't able to move around to visit each other. Next time I would prefer to be seated in the main part of the restaurant. I have been to this place before when it was The Prescott, it has been nicely renovated and is more modern and bright. Lots of nooks for smaller parties of diners of 1-4. The restaurant was quiet and not too many patrons at 6pm when we arrived, perfect for conversing. Firstly, the ambience was very nice and the renovations within the building are nicely done. The staff is very nice and accommodative. However, in order to be honest, our experience was not a good one. We were in a room with two tables enclosed with 3 walls. The acoustics were horrible. We could hardly speak with each other over the table and hear each other - because of the echoing sounds from the table adjacent to us. It was overwhelming, and difficult to digest our food. We ordered a bottle of wine, which was approximately $75! When the initial tasting was done, "the taster" in our party stated to the waitress that it did not taste smooth or as expected. We decided not to complain. Then, as none of the four of us could even tolerate the taste, we called our waitress back to the table and let her know that we were completely dissatisfied about the wine; it tasted bitter and much like drinking Vinegar. By the appearance of the cork that had been removed from the bottle, the end of the cork inside of the bottle was barely damp. It was obvious that the wine had not stored or been cared for appropriately. Thus, the wine was ruined. After our sincere regret and complaint, we were given choice of a second wine. The restaurant did not, however, charge us for the first bottle. That was most definitely appropriate because we were unable to even drink it! Our food was delivered in a beautiful presentation. However, the two main beef dishes were very tough. A pasta dish for one in our party was overcooked and chewy like rubber. Only half of it was eaten. A fourth dish was a piece of salmon. The vegetables that were served with the meals were not true portions, but more that of a garnish/decoration. The entrees were cold, not hot or even warm. Not as anticipated, so we ordered a dessert. Again, the presentation was beautiful, but the taste was not as expected. The manager, however, did compensate for our (2) $7 dessert choices. Overall, completely honest, it was very disappointing as it was our first time visiting since it changed management a year ago. Summary: 1. Overpriced 2. Small portions in accordance to the price 3. We came here on a Friday night! Our waitress was just delightful and very knowledgeable with the menu items! We had the best time and the food was outrageously delicious I can't even put it into words! After deliberating for longer than usual over the menu I decide on the pasta with clams and shrimp omg it was the best ever. My husband had the chicken which he enjoyed as well. Everyone loved their dinners and the ambiance was super warm and welcoming! We loved it so much we went back on Sunday and enjoyed their amazing brunch! The breakfast burger was to die for! What a welcome addition to fine dining in the triad. This is in the spot that used to be Prescott's and is an enormous upgrade. Upon walking in the place is bright it's clean it's very open and very inviting. We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday and were treated like royalty. Maya the general manager had a card sitting on our table for my wife and also prepared cupcakes with her son for dessert. She also gave us a complimentary glass of prosecco. The food here is well beyond just about anything you're going to find within a hundred miles of kernersville. The shrimp and polenta were cooked perfectly and I usually don't have polenta but the creaminess of it went very well with the saucing and the roasted vegetables. My wife had a special chicken confit and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will say that their drinks are very reasonably priced. They have housewives for $6 a glass especially beers on tap for $7 and specially cans of beer for $3.50. I'm not sure there's any place anywhere that you're going to find a can of lagunitas or something like that for $3.50. the wait staff is amazing and I can't thank Maya enough for just how well she treated us and just went above and beyond for my wife's birthday. We had previously eaten at this location when it was the Prescott and did not like it but we will definitely be back to Gaslight on Main. This is definitely a place that you can dress up and have an exquisite night out but it's also a place where you could come in your jeans and shirt and be just as comfortable. The Gaslight On Main Is Lit! I made our reservation on Open Table while enjoying my early morning (and I mean early) coffee. Within minutes General Manager Maya reached out to and we began conversing about an upcoming anniversary dinner with my hubby of 27 years. Maya went into overdrive and helped me make our dinner special. From seating preference to a special wine selection she covered all the details. She stopped by our table to wish us a happy anniversary, which was very kind given the restaurant was very busy. We arrived and were seated promptly in a semi-private area. Bubbly was delivered to our table compliments of chef Daniel and Maya. They also had an anniversary card at the table for us, which was very sweet and much appreciated. It's the little things that make a big difference. We started our dining experience with French Onion Wontons which were amazing! My husband ordered the lobster ravioli and I ordered the ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection and the portions were huge! I brought 3/4 of my entree' home with me. We were so full we had to decline dessert. If I had room for more food, I would have ordered the peach cobbler. The restaurant is decorated simply, elegantly and is very inviting. It is light and airy compared to the previous decor. I liked the clean, crisp vibe and appreciated the detailed attention to the simplicity of the decor pieces. Our server Kyle was amazing. He was appropriately attentive, while giving us privacy to enjoy our dinner and conversation. We hope to be seated in his section the next time we visit. I encourage you to ask to be seated in his section. I truly hope our town will embrace Gaslight and help them be successful. Had a great brunch! Staff was amazing, it was me wife, my 9 year old.. they made plain French toast for the little guy, wife had a burger, I had a monte cristo - All fantastic. The ambiance is meh, not bad just generic but i think it's normal for the scale of restaurant it is I just never been a fan of it, but I'd you go to any high end restaurant you'll be used to the format. First impression only based on quick stop for a drink and appetizers: the place is popular and you need reservations if you don't want to hope for a spot at the five-seat bar. We were early, so we were able to get bar seats. The prices are high, on par with top places in Greensboro and Winston. Nice ambience, maybe best in town. The bartender is knowledgeable. We were impressed by what we overheard between him and the servers. The food we had was good and had great presentation. But the taste was not on par with the price. However, we probably will come back to see whether our first impression was correct. NOTE: parking is odd. You have to turn into what appears to be a bank parking lot, but it's a little lot for the small set of shops that includes the restaurant. read more

The food was fantastic at all levels. Mya is the general manager and perhaps the most gracious host. Environment was so pleasant and the waitstaff was first rate. We had a couple bottles of Cabernet, and enjoyed the French onion dumplings and Brussel sprouts as apps. The fried goat cheese and beet salad was a winner, as was the black Caesar. We tried Gaslight on Main for the first time today. It was fantastic! My husband had the fish and chips. Both were delicious! The fish was light and the fries were crisp, hand cut and well seasoned. I had the roasted beet salad with fried goat cheese and add-on chicken and I was thrilled with the dish! It was cooked to perfection, the salad was lightly, and everything was perfectly balanced in the dish with fresh strawberries, in lieu of mandarins, since strawberries are in season now. In addition, we had a lemon cheesecake, dressed with passion fruit puree and chopped pistachios. It was fantastic! We cleaned ALL of our plates! The ambience in the restaurant is light and bright with gorgeous artwork of historic Charleston on the walls to compliment their theme. Our service was also exceptional! Disappointing Service and Obvious Favoritism I visited the Gaslight on Main today for lunch with my daughter, and unfortunately, we had a very poor experience. The restaurant was not busy at all--there were only about three other tables seated, and there appeared to be plenty of staff working. We placed a simple order: a sweet tea, one glass of wine, a sandwich, and salad. Astoundingly, we waited 45 minutes just to receive the single glass of wine. What made the agonizing wait incredibly frustrating was watching another couple walk in after us and immediately get greeted at their table by the owner. A waitress rushed right over, brought them a bottle of wine with two glasses right away, and their food was brought to them almost instantly. Meanwhile, we sat there ignored. It took over an hour just to get our drinks sorted out, and we waited another 30 minutes on top of that for our meals to finally arrive. When the food did come, it was completely average. There was nothing special about it, and the fries were so basic you could have easily gotten them at a fast-food drive-thru. Overall, the customer service was severely lacking. I am writing this review because ownership needs to understand that they have to pay attention to all paying customers, not just the people they know personally or treat as "VIPs." In a small town where a business genuinely needs every bit of foot traffic it can get to survive, you expect much better treatment than being pushed aside and ignored. read more

We dined here in 2025 and continue to see people post positive reviews about it so we plan to try it again at some point but I would like to share my experience. Very overpriced for the quality. We had the poutine fries and that was not poutine, not entirely sure what was served to us but it was not poutine. The ribeye had to be sent back twice, ordered medium rare and both times came out well done. While the 5-ounce beef tenderloin was fine, it wasn't particularly memorable. That said, the customer service was excellent, and they kindly compensated us for the disappointment. I switched to seafood from the ribeye and it tasted ok. The seating arrangements are not good, you're pretty much sitting on top of other tables and to me that's uncomfortable, especially for a "high end" restaurant. I am from Charlotte and love food. This was just simply not worth the price. Having said all of this, I give places multiple tries. We will be back and hope for a better experience. read more

I wanted to take my wife for an unexpected date night. I like to try different restaurants that I have not been to before and I use yelp reviews to explore options. I picked up my wife and told we're going somewhere new. I called ahead to check availability and made a reservation on OpenTable. We arrive and everything appears to be nice. We are seated and are looking over the menu. My wife leaves to wash her hands. When suddenly a piercing loud voice commences to tell a story about the toothless child and something about a desert. I heard the people one table over say that it was extremely unfortunate that this person was so loud because the food was good. I think this can't continue and I wait for the story to end. She is the only person in the place that's voice is heard or is loud. Then she continues to go from table to table with volume of voice the is literally making me flinch. My wife returns to the table and I ask her if the lady's voice is loud to her. This person now moves an is sitting in the entrance and taking a phone call and is talking so loud I give up. I am ready to leave. We get up because at that point we had not ordered and only received water. We walk at the door and the lady follows us out and ask us if everything was ok. I said no. She is so loud. It is ruining a nice evening out. She offers us a glass of wine but we politely decline. Unfortunately due to this we did not have the opportunity to try the food. I think she should lower her voice and install some fabric curtains to dampen the acoustics. But she was the only one was loud. This place is great! Maja (the GM) is a bright light and truly made for customer service. She's sweet, personable, and just a fun personality. While the food certainly isn't cheap, it's high quality and well made. I absolutely love going there when I can splurge and the service is great every time. I enjoy the intimate lighting and ambiance very much though my only small criticism is that the tables for two are a bit small.
