Had a team lunch catered in for a work meeting last week, as a group we picked Bistro 1605. Food was ready when we went to pick it up, everything prepared as ordered, each meal paired with the requested side. I got the Kayden sandwich with house salad. Just like dining in, they don't skimp. They pack the sandwich and the to go box full, it was more than enough for a filling and healthy lunch. Their house dressing for the salad is fantastic, maybe some sort of deviation of thousand islands(?), tasty with just a little sweetness. Highly recommend for dine in or take out! read more

Bistro 1605 is a result of Alexandria's Hamilton Street Bistro moving into the former Cork and Grind location. While I never got to try the old restaurant, I was curious about the new. I stopped by a little before noon on a Friday to find the establishment very busy, a testament to Alexandria's loyal following. As much as I wanted to like this place, however, it just didn't strike me as anything special. Positives first: Alesha is a friendly and welcoming presence, and the staff here seem hard-working and personable. Though the menu is fairly limited, several items - a crostini and a spinach/hummus/red pepper/quinoa wrap - held appeal. I ultimately went with the day's special, an Italian sandwich. It took a while to arrive, but given how busy - and new - the bistro was, I'm inclined to cut them some slack. While the sandwich featured a good amount of meat, it was oddly sweet due to the choice of pepper. Banana peppers and a dash of oregano would have been a welcome remedy. Like a few of the other sandwich offerings, the Italian clocked in at $12 with a bag of chips included. Some of the salads reached ambitiously into the teens. I may need to give Bistro 1605 another shot after they are fully up to speed at their new location, but initial impressions suggest a place that will serve you neither a bad lunch (and there is something to be said for that consistency alone) nor a particularly memorable one. read more

It's another Treat Yo'self kind of day!! I put all the blame on one of my bosses who has really good taste in all things from suits to cigars. He described his lunch today @alexandriasbistro 1605 with such detail and pleasure that I had to go try it. I hadn't realized Alexandria's Hamilton Street Bistro hadn't shut down, but just moved down the street a bit. This is a quaint cafe inside with some good lunch choices. My lunch was large and filling and would have cost $13.00. I added on hot chai tea and a huge slice of limoncello cake. Omg, worth it! This frosting is so light and airy, like a subtle mousse that goes so well with the lemon cake. Rhonda, my waitress, was so friendly and had such attention to detail. I totally copied my boss's order- the Turkey bacon wrap special and side salad, slice of limoncello cake. Mm mm so good!! I'll be back soon. Oh!...and they offer you popcorn when you sit down as a complimentary starter. read more

Alex, the owner of Alexandria's, is such an incredible human being. I've known her for years and she is really stepping it up during this Coronavirus pandemic. She is offering drive up service for lunch and dinner. She has pints and quarts of her pimento cheese, potato salad, pasta salad, etc. She is offering take home chicken pies and various items that she announces on their Facebook page. There are also daily lunch and dinner specials. Their food is incredible and she really puts her heart and soul into it. I love the University sandwich, the Kickin Chicken sandwich, the University salad with the house dressing and the Sweet Mary wrap. All lunch items are about $10, but I'm willing to spend that to support her business. Just call and pay over the phone with your card and they will call you back to let you know it's ready. I didn't know this place existed until a year ago. It's right off Lexington and Johnson/Hamilton St and easy to miss. I've only had a chance to eat here once because they're only open for lunch and I work day shift 30 minutes away. But the one meal I've had so far was great! I had been craving an apple and Brie sandwich and got my fix. The tomato bisque was excellent and the chocolate cake satisfied my sweet tooth. Service was excellent! Alexandria and Alesha are amazing! I highly recommend catering an event at Bistro 1605. My daughter was graduating from HPU. I live in DC and we had approximately 30 family members coming to her graduation. They worked with me to organize a luncheon. The location, its size, and their flexibility allowed me to host a very memorable event. The pimento cheese and chips are to die for! The food was good and they let us in early to decorate the restaurant. I can't say enough about their professionalism and friendliness. The proximity to the school, available parking, and access to the TV and refrigerators made the planning of this event stress free. They also allowed us to bring in outside food and drinks. The family was very pleased. Would definitely eat here again and use their services. read more

This was my third time visiting the bistro, and the first two times were wonderful. I took my mother and another elderly lady to lunch there today, expecting the same wonderful food and service. The professional, knowledgeable, lovely African American lady (I think her name is Rhonda?) who was my server the previous two times was not working, but a nice young girl with multicolored hair immediately came for our drink orders. My mother ordered a half-sandwich and soup, and her friend ordered a half chicken salad sandwich and soup. When our food arrived at the table, Mom had a whole sandwich and soup, and her friend had a bowl of chicken salad and soup. No problem, mistakes happen. BUT, when we pointed out the mistakes to our server, she became very nervous, almost upset, and told Mom's friend, "well you ordered chicken salad". She also told my mother that she would need to pay for the whole sandwich. I asked for a manager; she came out in a "Nirvana" t-shirt and apron and was very nice and accommodating. She told us that our server was brand new. I totally get this. I would suggest that new hires shadow other servers or have a little more training, so they feel confident prior to taking tables on their own. I felt sorry for our young lady, and the rest of the meal was quite uncomfortable as it was obvious she was reluctant to visit our table as frequently as a server should. At the end of the day, we enjoyed our lunch and left her an adequate tip, but I think your environment dictates that you train your newcomers a little more thoroughly. As a 35 year veteran of the industry, I hope you will take my constructive criticism to heart to improve your restaurant. read more

I'd heard great things about this quaint spot in a local food group, but had been unable to try it out because of their hours. My friend and I decided today was the day since we were both in the area and had time for lunch. Everyone was very friendly and personable upon entry and were wearing masks, which I greatly appreciated. The weather was perfect and COVID19 is real so we opted to sit on the patio. We both got the kickin' chicken. I had the tomato bisque which was nice and creamy and she had the house salad with an awesome honey mustard meet thousand island vinaigrette dressing. As awesome as the tomato bisque was, her salad definitely made me question if I should've gone that route. Next time. The chicken salad sandwich was pretty awesome and filling. You could tell the chicken was good quality and the apple slice and strawberry mayo definitely made my taste buds smile. We both agreed we will have to return. They were scheduled to cater a Swim for Cancer event but subed it out without notifying the sponsor. The sub called three hours before the event and said they couldn't cater the event This left the event and the American .Cancer Society in a terrible bind Shame on both of these local businesses. I expect all the ingredients to be included in the entree. Beet Salad was missing Quinoa. The waitress had no idea what it was and suggested the menu was being updated! This same problem occurred at their previous establishment several months ago, plenty of time to update the menu. The salad was delicious yet disappointing. I had been looking forward to eating at Bistro 1605 (formerly Alexandria's Bistro and Catering), and it is marvelous. I had the most delicious salad - turkey, greens, blue cheese, sugar coated pecans, apples, blueberries and tomatoes, with a maple vinaigrette, served piled high. The Oreo cheesecake (a chocophile's dream!) is scrumptious - very generous portion, too. The wait staff was very attentive and the owner and her daughter were so welcoming and gracious. Bistro is very bright and airy - lots of natural light and the seating is spread out. There is lots of space between tables. Looking forward to a return visit. Highest recommendation! read more

Nice little bistro. Happened to stop in after discovering the salad place (can't remember the name) is no more and was pleasantly surprised. Although there is not much room my dining experience was not cramped. The music was a tad loud but, was turned down once most of the lunch crowd left. The restaurant was filled with smoke the entire time and now back at the office I can smell the kitchen in my clothes - this is a major turn-off. I liked that our meals were served on real plates, the soup was in a real cup, and the cloth napkins. This is something some restaurants overlook and something I think is important when you serve real food. In contrast, the plastic drinking cups seemed out of place. I ordered a Classic Caesers Salad with oven baked chicken on top. I did not expect the chicken to be cold and think this is something that should be remarked on the menu. Furthermore, the lettuce was not romaine as is typical for a Caesers but, I like the iceberg better. I don't know if the dressing is home-made but, it was perfect - I didn't think I was eating undressed lettuce but, forgot it had dressing. The best part was the tomato basil bisque soup! This soup was amazing - it will be hard to try anything new. I also like the open salt and pepper grinders (not fancy, but the pepper is really tasty). Lunch costs about 10.00 which is not expensive for locally prepared, freshly made, real food! Definitely plan to go back soon! read more

We had scheduled 2 months in advance for Alexandria's to cater a fundraiser for cancer research. Their profits were not going towards the charity. They confirmed with us 4 days in advance. On the day of the fundraiser, they called 4 hours before the event to tell us they weren't sure they could accommodate our event and they would call back to let us know. They never called back and when we called them to see if they would accommodate us, we were hung up on with no explanation or apology. WOW! What a great way to do business! If you need to depend on a caterer, don't choose this one!!! read more

A lot of wealthy and influential people showed up hungry willing to pay for food! Absolutely love this place! Anytime I'm in High Point I make a point to have lunch here. The ladies that run the restaurant are super nice and always welcoming. When I first heard of this place I used to frequent twice a week at least for lunch. My favorite is the University with a side salad. The last couple times I've went the sandwich hasn't been the same. I decided to try again today and its just like how it ised to be. They've canged the apples and bread and it isnt as good. Its just ok now. Im disappointed because I love a good sandwich. I got the soup today instead of the salad. The soup is really good. Tomatoe bisque. Service is always good. I was also attending the same baby shower as the poster below and I am an EXECUTIVE CHEF. I don't know how I hadn't heard about this little gem in High Point before them but I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to visit. They closed the entire restaurant for us and had a beautifully decorated table with eclectic cloth napkins and delightful table settings. The owners are very gracious, kind and attentive hosts. It is a very warm and inviting atmosphere made even more cozy by providing a beautiful glass dispenser of Sangria. Their iced tea is also delicious, not sure what kind of tea it was but I would like to find out. On to the food, there was a beautiful and delicious Southern antipasto platter with fresh bread and butter pickles, olives, sharp pimento cheese among other items. As I ate I told my friend beside me that he had to go up and try this or that. Wonderful and little did I know that the best was soon to come. The meal was superb, very very good Tomato Bisque with pureed vegetables and cream, served with a crostini. It was beautifully presented in a small coffee cup and was just enough to satisfy. I would go back just for the Bisque, it was that good. The meal was a spring mix salad with the cranberries, blue cheese crumbles and almonds as the previous poster said. They used a Little Black Dressing Company dressing to top the salad and it was so good I bought a bottle to take home. The man sitting next to me said that he didn't think he was a fan of blue cheese but couldn't stop eating it, literally cleaned his plate. The chicken breast was a good 4 ounces of chicken that was pounded and velveted in a delicious sauce, the perfect accompaniment to the salad. I was completely satisfied by the portion and in fact couldn't finish it even though I wanted to. Thank you so much for your hospitality and absolutely incredible meal. I took home a paper menu so that I could order lunch on the go if I don't have the time to sit and relax. You have a lot to be proud of. read more

Decent food...definitely over priced! When we questioned being charged $39 for 2 salads and 2 cups of soup, despite conflicting charges on the menu, we were told we must have an old menu. We tried downloading the "new" menu from their Facebook page, however the prices listed on this menu are also significantly lower than what we were charged. The menu also says "Free Delivery" yet we were charged a $5 delivery fee. Disappointing! read more

Food is good! Service is excellent! Atmosphere around 1pm during the work week is very loud. Especially when ur trying to whine down from a busy morning at work.
