I would highly recommend staying far away from this facility. My 87-year old mother lived there for…read morethe past year, until July when she fell in her bathroom and broke her hip. She fell at 2am on a Sunday. The facility is supposed to check on their residents by 9 am. No one checked on my mother that day at all. Infuriating. I talk with mother usually every Sunday so when I didn't hear back from her by Monday morning, I called Crestview to do a wellness check. Tori said she went to check on mom and said that mom was just tired but okay. So it took me calling to get them to check on her. Turns out that later in the day, another gal named Lisa, found my mom at 3pm still lying on the bathroom floor, in pain. She called 911 and my mom was taken to the hospital - after lying on the floor for 37 hours. So much for good care. We found a new place for mom and when I went to clean our mom's apt at Crestview last week, the director Christina asked to speak to me. She denied that we had left her any voice messages and said she didn't receive any - from myself, my aunt and also mom's social worker. Christina insisted we give a written 30-day notice and that mom has to pay for September rent despite her move being involuntary, as she can no longer live independently. I asked Christina if there was any way we could reach an agreement since we are not a litigious family, but she was unwilling to budge at all. OH, P.S. The State of Missouri is now investigating them for the elder abuse.

We have used a few services that you pay for such as Senior Helpers when she had a wound that needed daily tending and that was very helpful and reassuring. Also the on-site salon for haircuts and pedicures is convenient. One huge downside to caution about is that meals are not served at all on Sunday nights. This has been burdensome for our family and other residents have grumbled about this repeatedly. They get used to not cooking and then there is no meal and families are not always able to help. So then it's cold leftovers or PBJ. But that is the only down side, other than that, it's a wonderful place and we would recommend it!

When transferred to a floor things changed. His room was dirty and not cleaned. The trash has not been emptied during his visit of five days so far. It didn't go well! My father was in the hospital with pneumonia and came in through the ER via…read moreambulance! The EMS had him diagnosed with an infection when he arrived. The ER was quick to respond and fast acting. That's about where the good ends and the bad begins. They missed meals while admitted, they almost let him bleed out and had to call a code team to respond. He is on blood thinners but was treated the entirely wrong way! I don't want to freak people out so I'm not posting pictures. They were doing the exact opposite of what everything on the Internet said to do and a DR even admitted they were doing it wrong. Then even after this was finished and we requested ENT to look at him he was released to rehab where he had another nose bleed even worse and they had to put a rhino rocket in for 72 hours. No pain meds were given until requested and the 12 hours later he had only gotten one dose. Mind you I was there during 90 percent of this and he is for all intents and purposes non verbal. The nurse felt bad and was very attentive after she didn't realize he hadn't gotten any pain or anxiety medicine for having an almost 3 inch ballon in his nasal passage. Like WTF. I'm so pissed I can't imagine if he had no one to advocate for him what would they have done to him. A year ago I would have been in jail after the first part of this experience for a long time. This is disgraceful. I forgot to mention. The first morning I came in his entire bed was soaked in urine sheets and all and I have photo evidence of all of this. It is atrocious and negligent! I have even tried contacting several people in the hospital and told I would be contacted and haven't heard back and I told them hey had 48 hours before I began my journey to exposing them. 5 days and many other things to report we are going to the state health and senior services after this and we will not stop. I'm one thing and that is tenacious and I will get you on the news and hopefully have our day in court with you Mercy! Good luck! So much more to say but seriously try and keep your family out of everything but the ER and know what your family member needs and don't leave them alone there it will be bad if you do.

An excellent treatment center that specializes in eating disorders. The environment is comfortable…read moreand relaxed. The feel is more like home than like a medical facility, though they are competent at handling the medical side as well as the psychiatric side. The treatment staff are exceptionally kind and skilled. That staff keeps the patients separated by age groups which is a good safety precaution but my early adolescent daughter found support and kindness from all age groups (they occasionally will all be together for family day). McCallum saved my daughter's life and I will be forever grateful.

We admitted our son to McCallum Place on September 24, 2025, based on multiple assurances from…read moreadmissions staff, the clinical director, and the intake coordinator that ARFID patients would be supported with meals from their safe food list, and that new foods would be introduced gradually and therapeutically. This was the only reason we felt comfortable with such a big step. Unfortunately, that was not the reality. From the moment he arrived, our son was denied food from his safe list and instead presented with standard meals he could not eat. He was told he had to finish every bite or drink Ensure/Boost, and that refusal could eventually mean a feeding tube. Another patient told him Ensure/Boost makes people nauseous, which staff confirmed -- reinforcing his biggest fear (vomiting). As a result, he went nearly 12 hours without eating, became dizzy, nauseous, and panicked, and was texting us that he was starving. When I raised concerns directly with Dr. Slat, she was dismissive, did not address my concerns, and told my son he had to eat everything on his plate with no therapeutic support. She also refused to provide food from his safe list -- even after being informed by Dr. Flynn that he had not eaten all day. This was negligent and harmful, and it left my son more fearful of eating than when he arrived. When I pushed further, I was eventually told by the psychiatrist on shift that the program "is not really a good fit for ARFID kids because of the way meals are set up." This directly contradicted what we had been told by multiple staff before admission. At that point, I had no choice but to bring him home. For families considering treatment for ARFID, please be aware: this program operates on an anorexia/bulimia model and is not appropriate for ARFID. Withholding safe foods and using threats is not the ARFID standard of care, and in our case it caused harm. This was an incredibly emotional and difficult experience for our family, and I hope no other child has to go through the same thing.
