We came in after a day at Dollywood and the clean room, hot large shower and AC was a perfect end to the day. I also had such a delicious vanilla latte at breakfast, I might just have to book a night for another one!

BLUF: Historic building, friendly staff, interesting rooms and a convenient location…read more My husband and I really enjoyed our one night stay at The Everett Hotel inclusive of a delicious dinner at The Bistro. We would have loved to have stayed longer but we considered ourselves lucky to get a room at all during the peak Fall season. We stayed in Room 9 which is on the third floor loft with an interesting pitched ceiling but no windows. The room was great for afternoon napping and it was just footsteps away from the rooftop deck. For a longer stay we would have probably preferred a room on the second floor with windows. I love American history, architecture and Americana so staying in this old circa 1904 bank was fabulous. We even took a peak at the old bank vault that is now used as a wine cellar and pantry inside the restaurant. The hotel staff here is top notch. Everyone was so welcoming and I appreciate that the hotel called before our stay to see if we wanted to make a reservation in The Bistro. The Bistro is a small, quaint, refined restaurant that books full for its dinner service so it's nice that they make sure hotel guests have an opportunity to book first. Our dinner in the Bistro was fabulous - I had the filet while my husband had the Ettouffee. We also had breakfast at The Bistro the following morning which was also very good. In addition to the five-star staff and cozy room, we loved the location of The Everett Hotel. It was walking distance to everything in town including shops, restaurants and the train station. It was also a short drive to Smoky Mountain National Park. As an added bonus, it is right next door to the Swain County Heritage Museum. We were conveniently able to park behind the hotel. Other conveniences we appreciated were the filtered water and coffee in the hallway. A special shoutout to Daniel who made us feel so welcomed.

Cozy up next to the fireplace, dive into a good book on a rocking chair, grab a board game to play with your spouse or kids, or just take a little nap while you listen to the rain showers. I highly recommend a stay here if you'd like a weekend retreat in the mountains of Western North Carolina and quality time with family and friends. Hemlock Inn is conveniently located a short drive from downtown Bryson City and the Cherokee side of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Hemlock Inn is a nice little place in the woods with quaint rooms, limited technology, and good Southern food. I loved that they rang a dinner bell and had a blessing before each meal, served family style. We traveled with our 1 year old and I was glad I packed some of his favorite foods from home to bring with us (we as moms know our little ones can be picky). Hemlock Inn will gladly provide you with ice to keep items cold and some rooms even have a small refrigerator. The staff here at Hemlock Inn are so attentive and welcoming. Mort and the entire team truly embody Christian hospitality which is a breath of fresh air. We enjoyed everything about our stay at Hemlock Inn and will return!

One of the best parts - Mort picks children to ring the "bell" to call everyone to meals. The kids love it! This was our first time and we will definitely be back! This place is 100% about expectations…read more If you expect a nice hotel on a river, you're going to be disappointed. If you expect a quiet old-school MOTEL with character on the river, you're going to like it. It's great if you're traveling alone because you won't have to listen to anyone else complain. This place is also 11 miles from the tourist area of Cherokee, so it's very quiet. It's ideal for a poker player, but don't tell anyone! Bright Spots... The porch behind your room that faces the river (make sure you get a river-side room) Air Conditioning that works and makes just the right amount of background noise while you sleep. Not Bright Spots... Needs a lot of updates. You almost have to shower against the wall because the shower-head doesn't stay straight. Showering requires some maneuvering. At least that was the case in my room. Only recommended for the right person. If you wear Cole Haan, definitely not for you.

So musty that we had to buy Lysol. No there weren't bugs which was very important, but the musty smell was horrible. I didn't like the feel of the blanket and more, my jeans and a sweatshirt to bed. The place doesn't even have Kleenex in the room. You get towels, toilet paper, and very small bars of soap. We carry our own soap and toiletries, but to not even have tissue?

The room was clean, nice shower and bathroom layout with a separate water closet. Bed was comfortable but bigger pillows would have made it perfect. The casino is large with an enclosed smoking room if you like to indulge. Nice variety of slots even the newer Buffalo Cash and Journey to the PlanetMoolah are not on offer. The casino waitress/waiters were in short supply but there is a self service drink dispenser and a couple of bars. There are a variety of places to eat but the only meal we enjoyed was at Noodles. No luck this time around, but I'm sure we will visit to try again.

Three stars pertain ONLY TO THE HOTEL part of our trip…read more Will we ever return to the philosophy that the customer makes everything possible? The hotel staff I encountered from the front desk to the valet exuded the feeling that I was there to serve them not vice versa. I asked for housekeeping to clean bathroom and let fresh towels and the front desk clerk told me to phone them from my room. I returned to my room (which was 700 steps away) and picked up the receiver on the 1980's style desk phone and punched the housekeeping button. I remained tethered to that 24" cord (no base speaker) for 30' and was then disconnected. I went back down and talked to a very nice young lady at the valet desk. She listened and then went to get me a housekeeping manager. Five minutes later the manager arrived and after hearing my requests, advised that the phone does not connect the dialer to housekeeping...it just rings and rings until it times out. This is not how I managed my business over my 50 year career. Now...the rest of the grounds including the casino were WONDERFUL and a treat to be there. We loved it. Just unfortunate for the one item described above. If you are going there, and, you need Housekeeping, ask to talk to them while standing at the front desk. Remember to tell them your needs and for how many days you want these needs to be addressed. You must not assume.

I will not stay here again. If you're an early riser, it should work for you. I booked this place because it's one mile from a gym and about 18 minutes to Harrah's for WSOP in Cherokee. I had no idea what to expect. This joint is clean and comfortable, which is all I need. It's also a great price and I love the concept. I don't mind tiny rooms, but you might. When I walked into the room for the first time, I felt like a Smurf and thought I had been transported to another world. I imagined Smurfette knocking on the door, me answering it, and Smurfette asking if she thought I was pretty. I said, "Yes, but I don't think you should come in." She fumed, moved a few steps into my room, then started smacking and kicking me while yelling, "You don't think I'm pretty?! You don't think I'm pretty?!!!" Papa Smurf walked down the hall due to the commotion and asked why Smurfette was in my room. I tried to explain, but he just put his hands on his hips and looked disappointed in me. That didn't really happen, and in real life, Smurfs live in mushrooms, but I did imagine it. Another way to say it: these rooms are really small. But that's the point. It's why you pay less. Recommended. If anything changes throughout trip (good or bad), I'll update this review.
