On our first visit we met April, who gave us plenty of space to look around without bothering us. When we were ready, she walked around with us, showing us options that met our criteria, and patiently answered all our questions. We weren't ready to buy, and when we communicated that, she understood. A couple of weeks later, after thinking through the different choices, we came back. April was by then on maternity leave, so we worked with Briana, who was equally friendly, knowledgable, and low-key. The transaction was smooth and painless. No last minute charges, no pressure to buy extended warranty (though one was available if we wanted it). We arranged for financing with our credit union, and that was fine, too (no pressure to take financing through the dealer). On the day we arrived for pick-up, they had cleaned and prepped the trailer, and Luis gave us a thorough walk through, making sure we understood how everything worked, from the smart hitch to the a/c to the slide-out & etc. We had been to another, big RV dealership months earlier, and were so traumatized by the high pressure sales tactics and endless (endless!!!) "follow-up" phone calls that we were paranoid about shopping again, but we had heard good things about Family RV, so we took a chance. Glad we did! They will rip you off. I'm Gonna file a complaint to the better business bureau. Do not come here or they will try to rob you blind! He spent over an hour diagnosing the problem, but it was getting dark and hard to see. He promised to come back in a day or so, and he did. The 2nd visit he found the melted wire, repaired it, and we have not had any problem since then. He is Extremely Knowledgeable, Honest, and charged a very reasonable fee for the work he did that required 2 trips here. We rely on mobile mechanics, because the trailer can't be moved. Cody answered the phone and from the first conversation was easy to communicate with and professional. He fit us in that day, and met with my husband while I was at work. Like most mechanics, he has a minimum charge, and when he got the job done quickly and efficiently he asked my husband if there was anything else he could do or answer for him to make will use of the hour we were paying for. He provided him with a link for some replacement parts to expect and showed my husband the easy fix. We have had another repairman come out that we got through a warranty service, and we did not want to go to them again. Cody was great, and he's now in my phone as my go-to guy for RV repairs!

It had been a very busy year and I still had many demands on my time that were not related to the trip, and I was stressed. I asked them to do routine engine maintenance and to find out why the dashboard AC had stopped working. They did as I asked and found and fixed the problem with the AC right away. I wanted new tires plus a spare for the trip. Savio referred me to Ramon's and they did a wonderful job with the tires, including locating a rim for the spare. The Solis has no space for a spare. I ordered a mounted from Landed Gear and had it shipped to Leales and Leales followed the instructions for the installation so that the spare stayed put even when we drove the famously rough Alcan Highway there and back. The road is built on permafrost and its reputation has not been exaggerated - we encountered one car with two flat tires - but with good tires and slow driving, we never needed our spare. We also did not experience the problems I've read people have with other brands or improperly installed back door mounted spare tire racks: broken window or warping of the metal doors.

The RV had to be ready to take me to San Diego where I will start my new job. As the inspection continued the number of mandatory safety and repair issues increased exponentially. I can honestly say they saved my life and probably the lives of everyone else on the road with me. This is no exaggeration. I am driving a 33000 pound vehicle. When you step on the brakes you need the vehicle to come to a complete stop safely. You want the lights to work, the electrical to work, the plumbing to work and the propane not to leak. Bay Area RV found and fixed so many crucial items that I would never have known about if it wasn't for them. Even though my total repair bill was significantly higher than I could ever have anticipated, I now have a safe , fully operational and beautiful RV that will last me for many years to come. I can't list all the details because they would be too numerous, but the number of times they have cut cost, discounted labor, and went above and beyond to work with their vendors and mine to get me the best possible price for the mandatory parts I needed is more than I think anyone else would have ever done for me. Even after I am down in San Diego I am going to drive that RV right back up here for any major work that needs to be done because I know it will be done right and with honor and with integrity. I can honestly say that they put me ahead of their own profits. My final bill was high but that is not their fault and it could have been much much worse if I had taken it to someone else. He gave me a quote and in the middle of the work he texted me saying it was going to be an additional $100 because of how hard the work seemed. I agreed I would give him an extra $100 if all work was done properly and no work was done half way. He was 20 minutes late for the appointment and was late to drop off my vehicle even though he said he was on his way. There was MULTIPLE spots that were missed and could be taken off with even my nail scratching it off. I sent him all the photos and let him know I was very disappointed on everything that was done inside. My mats weren't even vacuumed at all and spots that could be taken care of weren't. He let me know he wouldn't take care of the spots because I refused to give him the additional $100 he asked for after giving me the original price he gave me from the start. I was polite on letting him know I just wanted all the missed work that was not done which I paid for $400 dollars and he REFUSED. He kept mentioning how dirty my car was as if I didn't know that and was asking for his service for that reason. I am beyond disappointed and very frustrated on not getting the service I was promised for and on top of that for the owner not owning up to his mistakes and coming back to clean the spots HE missed. Some of the recommendations to call was Happy Days Rv and Jayco Morgan Hill that he has worked with. I called Happy Days and they said Ramirez is the only towing company they use. I was sold. The towing was seamless. There were a few issues on the trailer itself being old but he got it to work. After towing it and setting it up he did a great job sealing the roof and the outside. He also helped install an Ogo compost toilet. He helped with connecting the water to the rv and set it up to make sure hot water was running! Great guy! Responsible and legit. Price is also reasonable.
