We hired AOE to help with the electrical work on our primary bath remodel, as well as a Master Panel upgrade and splitting the outlets circuit in our kitchen which kept tripping. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with their work. Paul did it estimate and managed and coordinated a lot of the work on-site -- he was very professional and responsive throughout. Zack was very professional and attentive with tracking our project and scheduling their part of the project to work with our and our GC schedule. There was a hiccup with the wrong location of one of the GFI outlets in the bathroom, but it turned out not to be a critical issue. We really liked that these guys are specialists in the Santa Cruz County area, and handled most of the required building inspections, coordination with PG&E, etc with minimal hassle for us. We got the sense he was here to sell a list of standard actions for a bigger project and not to consider what actually needed to get done on this project. This guy acted like a know-it-all and gave us the impression the company would do what they were gonna do whether we like it or not. The quote came with services that we had explicitly said we didn't need. They added line items for altering the smoke detectors (not requested), work to do in hallways (there are no hallways), and taking out things we specifically said not to. Had an issue with our electrical panel/transfer switch which caused the power to go out across our whole house. Had a couple companies come out and they gave us the run around/didn't communicate properly. Ended up calling Alpha Omega and they were by far the best of the bunch. They (Paul) responded immediately and were super helpful/empathetic. Paul offered help over the phone/text and even mentioned that the other companies should've bypassed the switch in order to bring back power to the house. Quoted $2000 for a LED light strip installation in our half bath. Included all materials and labor. Agreed to the price because of high ratings on Yelp and one prior electrician could not do the install properly. First time, they absolutely got everything wrong from color of LED to the problem with dark corners to not installing the diffuser tightly. Second time, got the color of LED right, but did a shoddy job on not fixing the dark corner problem. If only the technician had more time, he could have easily gotten the LED strip installed properly. Technician also left without installing diffusers even thought that is part of the job services. We are not paying them for the install and moving on. The job was straightforward: 1: Demo the existing strip lighting in the downstairs bathroom 2: Install new custom fit, "dot-less" strip LED lighting (6k bright white) 3: Install specialized 90 degree fittings in 4 locations to make sure there are no "dark spots" in the corners 4: Install diffusers on the existing rails for strip lighting Update: I have updated the rating because Josh did the honorable thing and did not charge us.
