My experiences revealed poor customer service and a toxic work environment, where a specific group of employees would spread false narratives and mistreat new hires without accountability. There were numerous instances of favoritism, unlawful terminations, and a lack of training, leaving new hires feeling unsupported and vulnerable. Overall, I do not recommend this establishment for either services or employment. read more

Just moved to Dallas and was going to try this place due to the great reviews on Google. Never got a chance. As soon as I asked for an appointment with everything, I got blitzed with texts, several emails (that just called me a lead), and calls from unknown numbers. Ultimately, just felt like a really high pressure sales pitch and not the vibe at all I was expecting. My guess is a virtual assistant somewhere. I have no idea if they are great at cutting hair or not. But I'm always concerned when a place seems to invest all their effort in SEO (search engine optimization), GMB (google my business), and what appear to be service centers (they call them a concierge). Based on some of the other reviews, seems to be the case rather than investing in the business. I'm still looking for a place if anyone has any authentic suggestions! read more

If you're looking for a crooked line up and a patchy cut, that takes 2 HOURS, look no further!! They sliced up my head and made my face look like a jigsaw puzzle. Don't let the atmosphere fool you, no one here knows what they're doing and they charge you up the wazoo. Ok experience. The place is really cool but I waited 15 minutes for a cut (had an appointment). The lady cutting my hair didn't speak the entire time, I was facing away from the mirror and literally didn't see the result until the very end. Haircut looks good, minus the half inch difference in side burns. Idk. I paid like $65 including tip. Felt like it was $20 too much. I will start by saying that Meagan is the best person that I've had to cut my hair in a very long time. Great selection of drinks (if you choose to drink) and the products are awesome as well. Great place to get your haircut and the prices are great as well. I have only had one issue and that was with the front of office staff. There have been a couple of instances where there were inappropriate comments made to me (once over the phone and once in person). The manager took care of the issue, we had a conversation and she apologized. I still have 5 stars because of Meagan. If she were to leave, I would modify this review based off my multiple negative experiences with the front of office staff member. Pricy haircut for less than perfect service. I went and got the 5-course, normally $60 but half off for your first time. I waited nearly 20 minutes past my confirmed appointment time. As someone who doesn't drink Alcohol or soda, the drink options were slim, especially on a 100 degree summer day. The cut was mediocre. The barber didn't trim around my ears and skipped the neck shave, and never asked for feedback throughout, which is odd for a first cut with someone new. Everything else was nice. The cut also took nearly an hour itself, despite being scheduled as a 45 minute cut. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great, but for $60, it is definitely not worth it. read more

I had a membership for a year (pretty much since that location opened). I thought I liked the place but I only liked my barber, Khoi. He was amazing but then he left. I pretty much only used him for a year and it was great, he knew how to style my hair and i never left disappointed. Ashley is good too but you can't book her since she's so busy. I tried two other barbers but it was just not good (one messed up my cowlick and the other one doesn't know how to style and is rough). I got a cut yesterday and that may have been my worst experience yet. She didn't know how to use mousse and how to style hair, it really looked bad. When she shampooed my hair I felt like she was tenderizing chicken, I have fine hair for god's sake. The barber turn over is pretty high, there's maybe just a couple original barbers left. I don't want to have to go through that process of getting to know a new barber and explain them how my hair works, it's a process. I guess if you cater to guy going for a boring high and tight then it works. Their technology is also horrendous. For my appointment I filtered using " male staff " but yet I got a female staff, since they don't put pictures then you don't really know. I prefer guys to cut my hair and I was disappointed. Other tech issues: Multiple login pages that don't use the same login, you can't redeem gift card easily, password reset that doesn't really work, no mobile app. I haven't renewed and I won't. There are other places around and I'll give The Boardroom or Floyd's a shot. Edit: replying just to say "email us at yada yada" is a crappy and passive way of addressing feedback. You should have all the tools in your booking system to contact people directly (if you really wanted to). Yelp also allows you to DM people. read more

Absolute disaster since day 1 of signing up for a membership. Constant billing issues and high barber turn over. Not to mention the front desk receptionists have no idea how to do simple math when applying tips. The free drinks are a nice perk but when they incorrectly bill you and you have a new barber every 6 months, the hassle is not worth it. Customer service is abysmal. I would NOT recommend getting an annual membership at the Gents Place - Uptown. I had been a member at that location for over a year and usually went to Khoi for my hair cuts. After renewing my annual membership (and carrying over the 4 hair cuts I had left over from my first year), I found out that Khoi had left the Gents Place. I was pretty disappointed but thought I would try and stay since I sometimes got hair cuts from Ashley when Khoi was unavailable and she was also pretty good with my hair. Not too long after that, I found out that Ashley was also leaving the Gents Place. Given the barber turnover at this location, and not wanting to risk having to constantly find a new person to cut my hair, I requested a manager's assistance to cancel my annual membership renewal. In short, after multiple texts, calls, and emails, the owner of Gents Place finally called me about my cancellation request. I expressed my concern about the turnover and requested that my annual membership renewal be cancelled and my fees refunded. The owner refused saying that the annual membership is nonrefundable (which is apparently their policy but, again, keep in mind that at this point I had 2 hair cuts left over from the prior year and hadn't used any of the allocated cuts for the new membership year), but that he would reimburse me if the next barber I use at the Uptown location leaves the Gents Place in the next 6 months. After I told him I didn't want to start over with a new barber at Gents Place and would prefer to just cancel my membership renewal and get a refund, he hung up on me. EDIT/RESPONSE TO COMMENT FROM BUSINESS OWNER: (1) Actually, yes, you did hang up on me. After you refused to cancel my renewal/refund me and I said you can keep the money and I'd rather leave, you hung up on me and then immediately removed me from the Facebook group. (2) I renewed my annual membership for the second year BEFORE I knew Khoi (the person I typically used) left the Gent's Place. I only stayed after he left thinking I could at least still use Ashley when she's available, but then she also left the Gent's Place. Had I known Gents Place would lose Khoi, Ashley and others, I would not have renewed my membership. Again, I was still using my leftover hair cuts from the first year and hadn't used any of the allotted cuts for the new membership year. (3) You offered to reimburse me if the next person I used there left within the next 6 months. I wouldn't consider that generous, and this isn't really about financial risk. This is about finding a place you trust to consistently get good hair cuts. (4) It's interesting that you bring up commitment to service and reaching out to customers, because I had the hardest time getting someone to contact me back about my issue. To reiterate, it took multiple text exchanges, calls, and emails before you called me. In fact, I had to post on the Gents Place members Facebook page that I hadn't been helped before you finally called me; and interestingly enough, you claimed that didn't get my email even though I had copied members@gentsplace.com and forwarded the email to one of the managers I had been trying to reach. Keep in mind, I was initially told someone would assist me within 24 hours. I have saved copies of the text and email exchanges. read more

I received two complimentary drinks as well (they don't skimp on the alcohol). My stylist Ashley was the best! Lovely to talk to and gave me a very detailed and sharp looking haircut and shave. This is an advanced skill for a stylist. 2) She takes her time, both with the haircut and with the shampoo and scalp massage. 3) She doesn't cut your hair like she's shearing a sheep. King for a Day - Guaranteed you'll feel like that I signed up for the promotion on Facebook to check it out had an amazing time. I loved the 1920's feel in the promotions and wished that it had a bit more of that vibe with the decor (would have been cool if the hair stylists were dressed 1920s too, guys with bowties, women in 1920s clothing, suggested they put a few more book shelves with old books, a swing dance night with everyone dressed 1920s could be cool too) when getting there but it was still nice, but aside from that I haven't felt more spoiled since a fancy restaurant I visited where they put the napkin on your lap for you. Complimentary drinks (seriously, why doesn't every place do this), the haircut was excellent and very detail oriented, and had some $300 Magnani shoes shined. I got some advice on beard trimming that I put to excellent use when I returned home. The hair wash with the warm towel on your face was a nice touch. I had been a little bit skeptical when checking it out but it far exceeded my expectations. It's the kind of place that you hang out there a little and want to stay longer. Also, the final touch that is just amazing - it's next door to Hopdoddy Burger - my favorite burger in Dallas (order the Primetime with red in the middle and a side of truffle aioli to dip). Worst customer service I've ever seen. I called and confirmed a haircut appointment for the last slot of the day, then called AGAIN an hour before just to confirm the appointment (which they did) since it was out of the way for me. Went all the way over there and arrived on time, only to be told that not only did they not have room for me, but they weren't even cutting hair that day. But if they weren't cutting hair, why were they open with staff there? Seems like a barber wanted to go home early instead of cutting my hair and they made up a lame excuse to get me to leave. Followed up with their customer support and they never got back to me. So if you want to book a haircut only to show up and be told they have no idea what you're talking about, this is your place. If you want to get a haircut... maybe not. Complete disaster of an experience and will be telling everyone I know to avoid these jokers. read more

I joined the member club for $500 a month. I'll be concise and honest because I want to see this place get better. -The haircut is great! Highly recommend Renata. I'm 31 and I have struggled to find a place anywhere in town that is normal. This has been one of the best experiences I've ever had. I could write a book about the bizarre haircut places I have tried here prior to the gents place. -Space is awesome and amenities are nice (drinks, space to relax and watch sports, etc..) -Their technology is a nightmare. Can't schedule appointments online, jumped through hoops over the phone to create a profile. -Then, I couldn't book online due to my credit card not being able to be uploaded online (technical issue). They can't take it over the phone for uptown location. My advice to management - you will go under in uptown with millennials if you don't fix this. -After I signed up for my haircut $500 upfront for a haircut every 3 weeks (full year), I had a cancellation call 24 minutes before my appointment. (get well Renata!) Management - have a better process here to provide notice when/if you are able to do so. -Single haircuts are $70 without a membership. It is only worth it if you buy the membership and it is competitive if you do the 3 week option and access for them to clean up your neck line between haircuts. read more

When I walked it, it was just like every other location I've visited: warm, inviting, friendly, and so professional. Daniella greeted me BY NAME - who does that anymore?! - provided me with my preferred libation, and gave me a tour, since it was my first time in Uptown. Once Renata finished with her prior appointment, she greeted me by name (honestly, I really love that), and set about returning me to my groomed self. Upscale Barbershop without the smell of aftershave. Sports on tv at your chair while you get a cut, drinks, conversation, and a good selection of services and memberships to choose from. The products are priced where you'd expect them to be and they are very high quality. I purchased the rinse-free conditioner and a palmade for styling. They work very well.
