By my second visit, I already felt like a regular there! There are always vibrant conversations going on in the room, and I love the old Westerns always showing on the TV! My favorite barbershop has turned into a hair salon! Linda and ivan were both busy, so I tried out the bald guy at the end chair. Did not listen to my needs and instead bragged about himself the whole time and how he worked at some fancy salon downtown. With the haircut I got, I somehow dont believe that to be true. With that and his constant talking, I'll make sure to wait for the two other barbers. Please keep my favorite barber shop, a barber shop! I don't need gossip and stories, just a haircut. read more

Lovers Lane Barbershop is an institution. From the barbers in the front area to the manicurists in the back. "Red" and Flo Mickulec owned and ran the shop for years and now their daughter "KK" and fellow manicurist Melissa run the shop, many children have received their first hair cut and manicure here. Old fashioned barbers who KNOW how to cut hair. I even know a family from Kaufman that drives all the way into Dallas to visit LLBS monthly. The backroom is where the nail area is located, there are now 3 manicurists, KK, Melissa, and Rodica. You can walk in for haircuts but make sure to call for nail appointments, they can be hard to get, sometimes you can get lucky. Also parking can be a hassle so plan to arrive early for your appointment in case you have to circle for a spot. read more

This is a jewel in Dallas. It is a step back in time. You walk into a barber shop where clients have been getting their hair cut for 50 years to get to the nail shop. This is not a spa by name but by action. Everyone knows your name, asks about your family, shares your joys and your tears as you share theirs. There is little turnover in staff. You get great manicures and pedicures and the extras are the feeling of community spirit. I have been going there for 14+ years and I am picky about cleanliness. I know lots of men(many were boys when they first went there) that get their hair cut there and i did have a period of time that for medical reasons I was unable to wash my hair and I would pop in and get my hair washed and dried. read more

Today was the first and last time to this pretentious Barber Shop. The people are just plain rude. Why does everyone in Dallas have to be a #$$% Jerk? I guess they can afford to lose business and they dont care. That alcoholic barber by the door will give your head a workover and I am really suprised I didnt loose blood after his haircut. I wasnt sure if he was giving me a haircut or wanting to put me in a head lock. Honesty, I cannot reccommend this place to anyone. Make sure you have cash if you go they dont accept credit cards. Read about this place in D Magazine. They recommended Ivan Havins. Apparently, he's been there for decades. He's the first barber closest to the door. Not sure what D Magazine is talking about. Ivan is just an old crabby guy who doesn't care anymore. He's very unprofessional and unfriendly. Spent less than 10 mins on my haircut and didn't pay any attention to detail. He used a old dull razor for the neck shave that gave me bad razor burn. Snaps back at you when you ask him to touch up places he missed. He only trimmed one of my sideburns. At least I only wasted $20 on this horrible experience. Going to somewhere else to get this fixed. read more

To be honest, I initially only came in here because a friend of mine got a chair at the shop. Since then I've come to know some of the other staff and they are super sweet. While Chris worked his magic on my boys (I love his precision and super clean edges), one of the manicurist (kay Kay) was kind enough to paint my daughters nails while we waited. I have been going to Rodica for more than 20 years for manicures and pedicures on a regular basis. I have several issues with my feet and seldom, if ever, trust them to anyone else. I had a mani/pedi this past Saturday and was again reminded of how AWESOME her work is. She is thorough, careful and efficient. The selection of nail products at the Lovers Lane Barber Shop is beyond compare; they always have new and exciting colors available and if they don't have something you want, they will track it down for you. This used to be a very classy/classic place to get a haircut now with all the gossip from the ladies in the back room, to the pot smoking lady on the end that screwed up my hair cut, while reeking of marijuana I dont know what to say. I still love the place I initially went in to see Ivan but he had a good deal of people waiting on him and when the pot smoker kept saying "i can get you " i kind of felt obligated to let her cut my hair. Big mistake I went back to Ivan he did a great job of fixing my haircut, I would hate to have been walking around with uneven sides. read more
