If there's a really good sample sale in LA or OC, I am there. I'm a sucker for a great sale. I know to be patient at sample sales. This was my first time going to the Gilt Sample sale and I had really low expectations because of the previous reviews. There was free parking at the end of the block. It was a big parking lot, so there was plenty of space for everyone. (but I was lucky and found street parking). I arrived a little before 9 because I was unsure of the parking situation. I noticed other people parking and walking over to wait in line around 9. By 9:30, I decided to get out of my car and line up. I was probably 25th in line, which wasn't bad at all. (I was expecting for the line to be wrapped around the corner). I didn't see a Yelp/Express line, so I just stood in the regular line. When you walk in, they had you a shopping bag. The first thing you see are the clutches on a table, and racks of shoes behind that table. Men shoes on the right and women shoes on the left. Behind the racks are multiple boxes of shoes jumbled up. It takes a while, but you will find a lot of amazing finds. I got dolce vita and rebecca minkoff booties for $10 each! What?! I found Stuart Weitzman heels for $15. The shoes, children shoes/clothes, free wine and snacks were in a different room. It gets pretty overwhelming looking through the clothes, but I saw a lot of great pieces. At the end, the savings were worth it. I was talking to the cashier and he was saying that it's the last sample sale that they were going to do, ever. I hope that's not true :( read more

One word pretty much sums up this event: intense. Massive amounts of people, very narrow aisles between racks of clothes, super long lines everywhere--to get in, to enter the dressing room, to check out. If you're not a fan of crowds, definitely avoid this sample sale. Yelp provided us with complimentary tickets to this well-known sample sale known for it's amazing deals on designer brands. As soon as we arrived, the line situation was pretty confusing. There were two lines going in either direction from the main entrance. Both sides had a sign saying that they were for Yelp, VIP, media, etc. My friend and I decided to jump in the shorter line along with other Yelpers, however, it wasn't until much later that we were told that that line was for people checking in coats and bags only. This was stated nowhere on the signs, which would have been helpful! The check-in itself, however, was very easy! (Good tip not to bring a huge coat or purse larger than 5"x7"!) Upon entering, hoards of people were already attacking all of the tables and racks. Apparently, they had run out of totes, so my friend and I had to carry anything we were interested in buying. As I mentioned before, the aisles between racks were super narrow making it incredibly difficult to move without the entire row of people moving. At times, people got pretty aggressive too! The best part of the event was the Remy Cointreau white wine, Hippeas Organic Chickpea Puffs, and Harmless Harvest Coconut Water! I was a little disappointed that despite mentions of there being complimentary chair massages, makeup application, braiding and dry styling, these services were nowhere to be found! Overall, I could see that there were some pretty decent deals, but you really need to have the patience for hunting for that perfect deal that also fits and looks good! read more

The best part of this whole thing was watching my Yelp Bestie, Kim T., RUN LIKE CRAZY to the shoe section as soon as we were let in! I should've video taped it... We were actually hoping for some girl fights - you know, the ones your hear about at these kinds of warehouse sales, but unfortunately, everyone was much too well-behaved... So, this is how it works...there's street parking but watch those signs, as well as a semi-secret, not highly noticeable free valet parking (thanks for the tip Robbie!). Then you stand in line. The line starts around 6:15 pm for the 7:00 pm entrance time. Once you're in, they have SHOES, both ladies and men's on the first floor. There are also tables with handbags and scarves and a rack of neck ties. Along the ramp to the second floor are miscellaneous household items: coffee makers, butcher block with knives set, clocks, a chair, a globe...as I said, miscellany... On the second floor are the clothes! Lots of long formal dresses and then other clothing items by size- the smallest sizes are to the right and the larger sizes to the left. There is a "community" dressing room (so wear your nice undies!) with maybe 6 mirrors and racks for your clothes. There's a little tiny room to the extreme right as you enter that has baby and children's stuff. Menswear is to the extreme left. As you enter the second floor, you'll find free rosé champagne, bottled water and power bars. All free. They did have a tip jar for the rosé servers. There are restrooms on the first floor behind the ladies shoes. Here are some tips: *Grab your big black shopping bag and just grab shoes in your size and stuff them in to try on later! *Wear or bring those little footsie try on nylons since your feet are probably swollen and sweaty from standing in line and plus, all of our feet are slightly larger at the end of the day! *Wear easy to remove clothing for that community dressing room! No fancy hair either! I wouldn't wear any jewelry that will snag the clothing you're trying on! Wear comfy shoes and clothes! *There will be a long line against the back wall for the community dressing room, and yes, there's one big one for women only and a smaller one for men. *They will bring out new items periodically as the evening progresses, so might want to check the handbags and shoes again before you get into the check-out line. Once in line, it went fairly quickly as they had a lot of cashiers on staff. Kim T. made some amazing buys on designer shoes: Manolo Blahnik, Ferragamo and Prada. They retailed for around $3,000, but she got all three pairs for $1,000 (but her mom thinks it was $100!). Channeling her inner Carrie Bradshaw for sure! I WANTED the green sequined Judith Leiber clutch AND the Alexander McQueen brass knuckles clutch- but I wouldn't spend $1,000 on a purse! The McQueen was marked down from $3,400 to $1,200 though... some cool deals for dedicated and loaded fashionistas. I did make off with Alice & Olivia shoes marked down from $345 to $105, a grey Calypso dress marked down from $425 to $85, another Calypso dress in burgundy (coincidence, two of the same brand) marked down from $695 to $139, and finally a Marabelle dress marked down from $79 to just $19. Ahh, consumerism! No cash. Credit cards only! I consider myself a pretty frugal spender when it comes to everything other than food. I value quality over quantity. If it looks nice or unique or has a meaningful message behind it, I will consider shelling out some serious dough for it and supporting the right people. However, at this warehouse sale, you just kind of get the sense that most of these women are desperate to get that "status" symbol without having to pay the exorbitant prices that these things are actually not worth anyway. Mediocre jewelry, a sparse selection of shoes, expensive watches, overpriced handbags with no fashion appeal whatsoever, copious amounts of knick knacks and homegoods, and an enormous hall packed to the brim with apparel for both men and women, and 2 hours to sift through as much of it as you can and decide what's worth maxing out your credit card for. In my opinion, none of it really was. While were some nice-looking things and giftable items, they were still too expensive to be worthy of the trouble. For example, a handbag that usually costs $800- which it is not worth to begin with- will run for about $375 after sale price. It's still too much, guys, and it makes me feel these people are just taking advantage of people's desperate desire to gain validation by virtue of how expensive their stuff is meant to look. The cheapest thing I saw there was a tiny piece of jewelry worth $25. High points: They did have free (cheap) wine, water, and snacks, and there is a certain excitement that comes from hunting for that "perfect" item at the right price. Would I do it again? No. Because at the end of the day, you're still feeding the wrong beast in terms of where you spend your money and the companies you choose to support. I'd far prefer going to a local artisan market, get something truly beautiful and one-of-a-kind, and support the person who put their blood, sweat, and tears into making something truly meaningful. read more

This sale is put on by gilt.com, an on line clothing and accessories site. Largely name brand clothing and shoes, and largely women's wear (65% she, 35% he), the physical sale takes over a Hollywood sound stage, adds a DJ and open sake bar, throws in unlimited Hostess snacks (Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Cupcakes, Ho Hos and yes, Donettes) and there you have it -- find your size and try it on. If you can make it work with your style and size, the discounts are significant. Most party-goers, including this Yelper, walk out with a few items. I left with an armload of awesome winter coats I'll never wear, Prada loafers one size too small, and some aspirational belts. If that's not a successful sale, what is? This past Gilt City Warehouse Sale was at Siren Studios Orange (1050 N Orange Dr., Los Angeles), with a preview night on Friday, November 11 and 2 sales days on the 12th and 13th. I was fortunate to get 2 free tickets from Yelp. However, when a friend and I arrived, no one asked if we had tickets (although you could have purchased tickets on line, I would be a little bothered if I had ahead of time since it didn't seem like you needed a ticket to get in). We arrived around 2 pm and were able to find free street parking just fine (although there is a small paid lot a few blocks down that cost $5). My friend checked in her purse (backpacks and purses must be checked in) and then we were given a shopping bag to use to hold our items while shopping and a little price guide to let us know which colored tags received additional discounts and which colored tags did not. There was 2 rooms for this sale. In the first room (when you enter to check in your bag and get a shopping bag to use), you will find shoes (both men and women), purses/ clutches/ bags, accessories (jewelry, scarves, belts, gloves, beanie hats). In the 2nd room is the clothing (men and women) all on racks that is placed by size. But of course in a place like this, you need to look through all the different racks, regardless of size because people do not always put back the clothing items where they found it. In the women clothing, there was a lot of dresses (especially cocktail style), pants and some tops. Being that we arrived in the afternoon, it did seem like a lot of the good stuff most likely had been bought up already. In the men clothing, it was mostly blazer jackets, some winter jackets and a good amount of dress pants. As for the dressing room, there is a larger room (found in the room with the clothes and is separated by a curtain) with 4 mirrors in which there is 1 in each corner. But there is no actual dressing room and one large room. There was also a small selection of baby clothing. I ended up purchasing a few scarves and 1 small tablet pouch. I was pleased that this place wasn't too crowded (but according to the employee at the register, she said it was very busy on the preview day). I did see some real high end brands and mid range brands. Some of the prices are comparable to Nordstrom Rack, Off Saks and the like. But there were also some prices that were higher and also lower. Overall, this sales event was okay but I think I will just stick to shopping at Nordstrom Rack in the future. If you are in the area, check it out. But I wouldn't make a special trip to shop here. I went to the one on 1050 N Orange. First, there's valet parking and street parking if you're lucky. The area surrounding this place is kind of sketch with empty warehouses all around, but you're not hanging outside for too long. Staff was very nice and professional and security was pretty legit. They had a mini bar that only served one type of drink with Cliff bars inside and water bottles. Didn't see the Tide Pods samples. The staff takes any bags that are not clutch sized and give you a ticket to pick up later. Honestly, it was a two roomed warehouse. First room was 50% shoes, then the other half was accessories, HomeGoods like utensils and bedsheets/pillows, and scarves/purses. There were a couple of watches, sunglasses and earrings, but nothing crazy. Most of the shoes were high heels with a few boots mixed in. They organized by size which was nice. There were very few recognizable brand names and mostly boutique brands you've never heard about it. Or maybe I just got beat by the hardcore shoppers. Second room was dedicated to clothes. Unfortunately, it was about 75% women and 25% men. Clothes were organized from XS dresses to L. XS tops to L. XS bottoms to L. Most of the men clothing were suit jackets, some button shirts, and more jackets. Honestly, only like 2 rows for men pants. Some women jackets were mixed in too. Most clothes ranged from $30-90 and a few hundred dollars here and there. Overall, maybe I'm not a big enough shopper, but I didn't really find anything impressive after about an hour and a half of digging. It definitely had a ritsy Black Friday feel to it. read more

Lemme start off by saying that the parking sucked arse! It was my first time attending a gilt warehouse sale event and I drove around the block a couple times before finally giving up and just paid $20 for parking in this lot a couple blocks down. I talked to some people at the event who were able to find street parking nearby though so maybe it was just my luck heh.. I got to the line at around 6:45pm for the media preview event and my spot in line was not bad at all! Suddenly though, the line exponentially increased and a lot more peeps came. The actual entering was easy-- you're immediately given a shopping bag and sent on your adventure. The first room was just shoes bags some bedding stuff (pretty weak if you ask me), I'm a shoe size of about 5-5.5 so there was just a small section. The clothes were in a whole nother building, and although it was nice that there were lots of xs/s the selection wasn't all that great. Lots of clothes broken, obvious flaws, wrinkly. Not worth the trouble IMO. Don't get me wrong, I bought 5 lovely dresses and couple pairs of shoes which I absolutely love, but the trouble espesh in parking was NOT worth it. Is it a fun event? Yes, the music made it a party with endless free water, drinks, pop chips and it would be fun to casually stroll through but not worth the trouble of me paying for parking and then hauling my bags two blocks. The free makeup application made me look like a clown -.-.. It could just be that the person didn't know how to do Asian makeup haha. Thanks yelp for the tix! Welcome to Gilt Warehouse Sale! This is our second year attending the Gilt Warehouse Sale at Siren Studios on Orange in Los Angeles. ABOUT If your not familiar with the Gilt Warehouse Sale, it's a pop-us sale that happens once a year for two days only (Friday night and Saturday) at Siren Studios on Orange. This is a timed shopping experience, you will have only two hours to shop and then the next group comes in. For example we attended the first time slot 7pm-9pm, on Friday night, which is the best time if you can attend. You get a first look at all the items. At this sale you will ONLY find name brand clothes, shoes, accessories, and some house goods but they are known for the clothes. Gilt claims the items are up to 80% off retail. The cost of admission varies from the most expensive that being the first time slot to the least expensive being the last time slot. They had two lines to enter Gilt. Make sure you know what line you are in to save you time. They had a Yelp Elite / VIP Line and a paid ticket line. The YELP line was shorter and had earlier access PARKING Street parking only! No parking lot, parking can be tricky and frustrating just be mindful of the parking signs and you will ok. I suggest taking UBER or LYFT to save you time. EXPERIENCE This year they had a DJ, complimentary Rosé wine, Luna Bars (3 different flavors), a station to buy tattoos to help a charity, a alteration room to help repair or make alterations for your clothes and bottles of Balance Water to keep you hydrated. When you enter Gilt they will provide you with a Gilt shopping bag to put your items in. You do have to return the bag when you leave or check out. They have two rooms. When you enter Gilt you enter into the Shoes, accessories and house goods room, this room get packed fast. The second room is up the ramp, has clothes, DJ, bar, goodies , changing rooms and alteration room. Pro tip: Find the shoes you want first and save them. They go fast. People will leave unwanted shoes and other items on the benches in front of the bar in the other room, this is a good place to look for hidden gems. What you see is what you get. No new clothes or items are added, that's why the price of admission is more the earlier you attend. They have security and staff members walking around to help if you have questions and clean up clothes piles that happen everywhere. TIPS I have a few tips that may help in your shopping experience. 1. Get to the Gilt Warehouse Sale early, the line can be very long. If it starts at 7pm try to arrive by 6pm. 2. Wear flip-flops of easy to take off shoes, they have a lot of shoes for sale, this will help when try on shoes. 3. Dress in light weight clothes. When trying on clothes this is a no brainer. 4. Don't wear a jacket. Too many layers slow down your shopping. 5. If you like something, save it and put in the bag they give you. Chances are it may not be there when you get back. 5. Let me preface this by saying I'm frugal af when it comes to buying clothes. I never buy anything full price knowing how the fashion industry works. You can find me at all the sample sales in Los Angeles and Orange County. It's become a thing for me. I hate crowds but I'll suck it up for a great deal. I got there late in the day thinking the lines were going to be crazy. There were NO lines by the time I arrived with my friend and no crazy crowds inside. Luckily, everyone who hoarded all the great deals were starting to sort through their items and remove great pieces. I walked away with three great designer items and paid only $49! One was a beautiful Marchesa Notte that was originally priced at $990 (sale price around $300) and I bought it for around $30! The discount rose to 90% off at the end of the day. There were still some great pieces left. It does take patience and yes people can be ruthless when it comes to these sales (you don't have to be and it doesn't have to negatively affect you unless you allow it to). They had everything you'd find on the Gilt website from bedding, babies clothes, mens and women's wear, shoes and accessories, swimwear, and kitchen items. I'm sure there were more things earlier in the day. I loved talking to the workers! (God bless their patient souls for handling these sample sales like champs). They were wonderful and still so chipper at the end of the day. I've previously worked in retail for over 6 years and retail workers know how crazy holiday shopping can be with all the holiday deals, longer hours and *ahem* "pleasant" customers. I am a huge Gilt City fan... I mean, I'm a fan of all the Daily Deal sites but they've gone so seriously downhill since they were at peak popularity. Gilt City however continues to offer deals at higher end restaurants and businesses - and I am a regular buyer. So I was excited to check out this sale. Alas, it's not for me. If you're a serious shopper that likes ferreting out deals and are willing to elbow your way through a crowd for a pair of designer pumps... this is your moment. But I'm the kind of shopper that wants to get in, find something I like and then buy 5 of the same item... all in black please... and get the hell out. This is a what I imagine a Tori Spelling yard sale is (and yeah, she does have those apparently - in the Valley, no less). It's messy. It's competitive. There's wine and a DJ. And you really need to be a skilled shopper and label maven to enjoy this. While I didn't enjoy the Gilt sale, I do appreciate Yelp giving me the opportunity to check it out and see what it was all about. I can give up shopping but I'm not a quitter!!! Thankfully, I won a pair of tickets to this event courteous of Yelp. Being a designer lover, I was more than thankful to be able to get in and check out their designers marked up to 80% off! I made sure to come with one other person on an early Saturday morning to ensure I can get some goodies. When I arrived, we were kindly greeted and given a shopping bag. The event was divided into two rooms. Downstairs they had accessories such as shoes and handbags. Upstairs they had clothes. I went straight to the size 5 shoe area and grabbed a pair for myself. Some brands of shoes I saw were Giuseppes and even Tom Ford. For handbags, I saw brands like Oscar De La Renta and lots of Bottega. The Royce booth was also out selling their leather goods with free monogramming. We got a backpack and monogrammed luggage tag. The pricing was just right! As for upstairs, they had a bar area serving complementary champagne and water. I just went about my business and went straight to the dress section. I took a long time going through all their dresses and tops in my size. They had designers such as Valentino, St. John, and Alice & Olivia. Everything was dirt cheap and the dresses were very beautiful. Knowing I have a wedding to attend soon, I was really looking. They even had alterations there. I like the organization of the event. I didn't feel overwhelmed or rushed. There was also enough room for everyone. We spent a good while at the event since they had so many goodies. The check out line was fast. I did not have to wait in line to get in but earlier there was a huge line. There are tons of people shoulder to shoulder fighting to find the best deals. I did score a Nina Ricci and Phillip Lim dress for $5 each. There is a huge fitting room for girls and one for the boys. Had a great time at the Gilt Warehouse Sale!! We arrived at 6pm on Friday and there was already quite a line. Luckily, Katie B hooked us up with VIP admission and we were able to get into the media/yelp elite queue! At 7pm we were promptly let into the warehouse. The Yelp Elite/Media line was let in FIRST!! YAAAAASSS! Everything was organized and we were given large bags for our purchases. Since we were one of the first to enter, we had first dibs. Downstairs there was shoes, accessories, purses and home goods. When I entered I originally intended on buying only dresses but after I came back for a second look I wish I had checked out the racks with my shoe size; I realized later they had some pretty amazing buys! By the time I got around to it the 6-7 size shoe racks were pretty wiped out. I walked up to the home goods area and noticed a Le Creuset skillet but it was not marked. I was too impatient to wait for them to retag it so I left. In hindsight i wish i just took it with me and figured out how much it was later. Just grab and keep on going! The clothing area had a great selection of clothing. I know someone had complained that there wasn't a lot of clothing for men but I think if my husband were with me he would've had a fun time. I saw some pretty swanky jackets and long sleeves. In all honesty 75% of the clothing room was for women though :P For giveaways they had flash tattoos, Luna bars and rose wine. There was also a DJ playing dance music....paired with the rose I was definitely in a mood to buy stuff :) After an hour the rooms were filled with people and it was hard to walk around. I'm shocked I didn't spill my wine on someone or something. There was an excitement about the whole experience, very high energy, but I enjoy events like that. If you're afraid of crowds and get overwhelmed easily, this is not the place to go. The staff and customers were really nice. Although there were a lot of people I didn't experience anyone who was rude. I bought a Lotus Thread dress for $75 ($759 retail) and was able to snag an Armani slim fit tie for my husband for $25 (retail $125). I didn't buy a lot but my friend and I had a great time and would definitely go again. You need to be there opening day to get the great deals for sure! My first and last sample sale. I'm not one to dig through a pile of jumbled up items to find my diamond, nor do I often buy high end / designer labeled clothing. I feel like it's not worth my time and effort. So I guess I'm just basic. With this in mind, and if you're like me, this is definitely not the place for you. Even though my experience wasn't what I intended, I'm still thankful for Yelp, who provided free VIP admission, for myself and a guest, to attend this sample sale. We went on a Friday night from 9:30 to 11:30 PM. I saw previous reviews stating they were only limited to a 2 hour shopping period. However, I didn't see people from the prior session, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM, being forced to exit the warehouse. Technically, we could have gone inside without waiting in line. A few things to note: - They didn't check for ID. - Street parking is free, a few blocks down. - Bring bags smaller than 5x7 to get quicker entry. They do provide bag and coat check in though. - Lines aren't that long. Around 15-20 min early is fine. Despite not feeling the vibes of this place, I'd like to point out some things I did enjoy. The free snacks provided by HIPPEAS were extremely delicious. Because these organic snarks were so good, they started limiting it to one bag per person. The flavors included Sriracha, Cheddar, and Pepper. Complimentary wine was also available, but I gravitated towards the Organic coconut water provided by Harmless Harvest. I must say, this coconut water surpasses my previously favorite brand of coconut water, Zico. Harmless Harvest is pure, legit-quality coconut water! The true foodie Yelper in me started off this review with the hoards of clothing items, but was sidetracked and began raving about the free snacks instead. Getting there around 630 pm (doors opened at 7), I was able to find free street parking within a block, but it looked like I was one of the last few to be able to. The lines were already pretty long-- the line for general vouchers was 3x the size of the Yelp/media line. I would suggest if you want to be at the front to get there around 645, as the line balloons after that. The process to get in was very straightforward, but there was a definite bottleneck at the coat/bag check. All bags larger than 5" by 7" have to be checked! So if you can plan to bring a smaller bag, you should. Getting inside, the madness began. I'm definitely of the opinion that you should hit the bags and shoes first. Go wild. Grab anything you are remotely interested in. Be a hoarder. At the very end, you can try on the shoes and critically examine the bags and put back what you don't like (which will be a welcome find for some late straggler). Then hit the second room, with the rose and tops/bottoms/dresses. I feel like giving out free wine to aggressive shoppers is a recipe for spill disaster, but it seemed that everyone was able to perfectly balance their drinks while still pushing through the racks. The changing room is one large communal space divided by gender. Even though it's a large room, they still control access to make sure it doesn't get too crowded, so be prepared to wait in a long line to try on clothes. Then, with your actual shopping done, you can go wild with the free rose (not great, but hey, it's free!), making fun of the leftover items. There is also free Luna bars and Balanced water to grab before checking out (which is also a long line). I ended up with 2 dresses and 2 bags. Did I need them? No. But I'm gonna rock it. Pros: *Actually being able to try on items and see them in person *Good deals (although the same prices as Gilt website) *Free rose, Luna bars, and water *Well organized to deal with large crowds Cons: *Very crowded, long lines *Items quickly snapped up (I wouldn't go Day 2) *Music so loud you can't hear anyone *Not much of an added sale to what's on Gilt, many items scuffed. read more

Ok. So I'm super torn on how to rate this sample sale. I think it all depends on your priorities. I went with my friend-Heather who could NOT handle the crowds. Best be warned, even if you have VIP access with yelp elite (thank you Katie B and the yelp gods) you will have to aggressively take charge and be in an assertive mindset to get the most out of the sale. That being said, I personally think it's absolutely worth it. Quality expensive items are supremely discounted. I left with 4 items- a men's jacket (retail $565, purchase $80), men's collared shirt (retail $60, purchase $6!), women's suede sandals (retail $75, purchase $10) and women's sling backs (retail $175, purchase $50). Overall, my recommendations are- get there early, if you like it, just grab it and then decide later. You don't have time to think. Also, be willing to go with the flow. I couldn't get anywhere near the women's clothing everyone was pushing and shoving so I got what I could and got out. read more

I don't think I'm a good shopper, something like this is great and all, but overall makes me tired and kind of annoyed because everyone is so pushy and it's so hard to even get to the clothes. Still there were some good deals - only thing is you can't try anything on and have to chance that it'll fit when you get home. I brought my coworker along with me and we both stood in line. I think we could have skipped the line as I saw a Yelp Elite sign when we got to the front. Oh well. We checked in and were told to check our bags but take out our money to pay. So my friend and I divided and conquered. I took a look at the shoes, but there wasn't anything that grabbed me so I headed in the other door where there were clothes hanging. There was also a bar with wine and a stand with lunar bars. I got a Glass of rose, it was alrite. Found one dress that I thought was cute for $40 so I bought it. Overall it's a cool event but I'm not that kind of shopper. I'd rather do something like stitch fix and have someone pick out the clothes for me! I'm always hesitant of warehouse sales due to the chaos of ladies that are passionate about a great sale like me! I arrived mid-morning. I wasn't able to find street parking, but I was extremely happy about the affordable valet. The check-in process was very organized based on reservations, yelp elite, and walk-ins. I liked how easy it was to check my purse and let the shopping begin! I immediately went towards the shoes. There was a great selection from Christian Louboutins to Stewart Weitzman. I found shoes that I have been looking for since last year....and they were on super duper sale! No complaints! The vibe was nice. The crowd was 21+, which allowed for free flowing rose. There were free samples of Luna bars and balance water. I searched through the bathing suits to the custom monogram leather pieces. I wasn't out of control... thank goodness! To be honest people shouldn't expect any Sample Sale to be super organized or not crazy so I will first off say my rating is based solely on the sale and whether I thought it was worth the crazy. Gilt online is quite great, but this was better from a price point perspective. They took 70% off on top of the sales price. It was insane; getting a wool coat for $15 or a Puma Jacket that retails for $350 for $40 was quite nice. Because a lot of these are "samples" or the extra some of the sizing was off. I wear a small or medium depending on brand and cut. But it seemed like most things were not standard sizing but like all clothes that why you need to try them on. As for selection they had some accessories but it wasn't as large of a selection but he price point is so low I feel like you can't be too picky. I had fun but it's a once a year kind of thing for sure. read more

The Gilt Sample Sale is the highlight of my weekend! I won a pair of tickets to this event last minute through the Yelp LA giveaway and decided to take one of my friends here since she took me to a warehouse sale before. I wasn't sure how this event was going to be and was prepared to not find anything. The ticket redemption process (through the giveaway) was a little confusing. There wasn't much directions from the store itself, and therefore I just had to show them my Yelp LA giveaway confirmation to prove that I was the winner of a pair of tickets in order to get in. My friend and I didn't want to wait in line (even though we didn't bring a coat and only had small bags), so we ended up arriving at 11AM. Boy was that a mistake because all the purses were gone by the time we arrived! I was so confused because I couldn't find the bags! :( However, there were still plenty of good stuff laying around. Best part? The sale was 90% off everything!!! My friend and I scoured through the shoes section, and we ended up finding shoes that are dirt cheap (less than $5 for a good pair of shoes). There were also other higher end shoes that were made in Italy but were probably worn on runways, meaning they're totally not for the everyday style that you could use it for lol. The clothing section was a little hard to manuever around, since it didn't seem like there was a specific way of how items of clothing were sorted. Nonetheless, you just have to dig through the pile to find the gem. They have a specific section for gown and I think even saw a wedding dress there! I ended up getting a gown for $28, and it was originaly $1390! Overall, it was a fantastic experience. It can't get much better than buying high quality products for a dirt cheap price. It literally cannot get any cheaper. Hopefully I'll get to go to the next one again! read more

If you have time and money to burn, this is the place! I went on Preview Night and the line was already forming 20 so minutes before the event started! There were 2 lines, one for ticket holders and one for the media. Upon opening the doors, it quickly became a madhouse there. Think Black Friday crazy. Do you ever see a $2000 dress hanging on the rack, but still getting trampled over? Yup, you'll see it here. I found a couple of well-known brands like Gucci, Burberry and even some athletic jackets from Champion (lol). Not all items were discounted. I did not find any shoes to my liking-- Burberry rain boots about $150ish, but it never really rains in LA... Hm, maybe not a good investment here. Tips: They only accept credit. Bring a purse smaller than 5"x7". Plan a visit when parking is free. Wine, Hostess, and Pure Leaf were great additions to the shopping experience. This was my first time ever attending the sale, and thank you Yelp East LA for that! I arrived maybe 1 1/2 hours before and there was a small line. Since I was one of the first to arrive, I was also one of the first to enter. There are pretty good deals, but there isn't much of a difference from the 80% off online sale relating to PRICE. The difference I noticed was in the items available. I was able to score an awesome pair of peep toe pumps by Rachel Zoe for approximately $80. Such a sexy shoe. I love the variety of products. Note. People can be aggressive, it is a sample sale after all. I came on a Friday at 7 pm. Usually one is able to tell the level of intensity beforehand, but people ARE aggressive. I had a person reach into my bag as I was looking for more items. But yes, that, I'm sure, varies by the day and time you go. Other than that, it is greatly organized! Thank you for the Rosè. Meh. Chaos. I've been to the Sales a few times, but the last couple times have just been disappointing. Yes, you can search and find a diamond in the rough, but it gets so warm inside, that you're just looking for breathing room and trying not to get stuff dropped on you as you're walking through. Deals are half and half. You can score some really cool deals, but some stuff is overpriced, like a 600 bluetooth speaker, or a $35 glass bowl. Some of the shoes are mark appropriately, some too high, where you can score a better deal. But there was Royce leathers that had awesome deals on their small leather goods and some bags - with free monogramming! Thank you Yelp for the tickets, but it's really difficult to shop when the aisles are narrow and hard to get through. I felt that I had to keep yelling 'excuse me' to get through. Yes, thank you for the wine, luna bars, and water. It was definitely needed. Street parking if you're willing to walk a block or two, or $5 valet right next door. A fun experience especially when there is wine involved. My advice is to go straight for the shoes especially if you wear a smaller shoe size. I scored in the shoe department but didn't find anything in women's clothing. The aisles were small with the amount of people they let in. There were a lot of dresses and tops in all different sizes and brands. I was definitely expecting more merchandise...but maybe I'm just slow because I saw women with huge piles of clothing! The dressing room is a free for all, so remember to dress accordingly. Also, watch out for the special colored stickers on the price tag for additional percentage off...I didn't know this until I got to the register...I would have probably bought more! I went to the sale this morning with a friend, after scoring some free tickets from Yelp. The event started at 9, and we got there around 8:45. There were two lines, one for media/Yelp/RSVP and a general line. The line for Yelp was only about 6-7 people long, but the other line was about 30-40 deep. They were pretty quick and efficient in getting everyone in once the sale started. The first floor had accesories, purses, scarves, lingerie, shoes, and some household items. It was fairly well organized with a lot of things to choose from. I grabbed a couple of pairs of shoes before heading upstairs, where the clothes were. The clothing racks were packed and not super well organized. Sizes and items were in the wrong places, so you had to go through everything to make sure you saw items in your size. I grabbed a couple of things to try on and headed to the dressing room. The dressing room was a large room, surrounded by a black curtain for privacy. Everyone had to get changed in that room, so be aware of that in case you don't like trying on clothes in front of other people. They had racks inside the dressing room to hang your items on, which was nice. Overall, while they had a large selection, most of the prices weren't that great. I found a couple of decent deals, but definitely didn't find any bargains. In the end, I got two pairs of Stuart Weitzman shoes for about $200 total (close to $1000 retail), so I was happy with my purchase. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful too. I would probably come back to the next sale if I got free tickets again. read more

Most of the sizes left were either too small or big (maybe my fault for arriving 3 hours before it ended) anyhow I still found some good bargains. Hostess goodies, sake, wine and tea were given for free. Some clothes I had no idea where I would wear to but apparently others do. I think I had better luck at the sale tonight than some of the other Yelpers. I actually had a great time and would definitely go back next year to look for some steals! I also got lucky with the meter spot on Sunset. If I purchased a ticket and paid for parking, however, I think I would be disappointed in the selection. There was a lot less merchandise than I was expecting. I am wondering if they stock items for Saturday after Friday's sale - I can't imagine that that is all the stock they had to sell. First of all, everything was well laid out and there was still a lot of room to shop. There were free popchips, bottled water, and wine! Even just exploring this with friends would be really fun. I spent a solid two hours looking through items to find some steals (but I do love doing that!). I walked away with a set of queen size bed sheets for $39 (retail $125), amazing pair of Matt Bernson booties for $45 (retail prob $199), Ballasox flats for $6.30!!! (Retail for $29 on the gilt website), some baby gifts (from their very small baby section), and last but not least, a Red Valentino lace dress for $55!!!! Retail value of the dress is at least $600! I did also find an amazing pair of Kate Spade pumps that were priced at $120 but were missing two of the rhinestones that were on the accent piece. I brought them to the register to see if they would give me a reasonable discount and they would not mark them down any further. Although $120 is a big discount on Kate Spade shoes, it is still way too much to spend on obviously broken shoes. This is definitely one of those places where you have to give everything a good once-over before purchasing to make sure there are no damages in your non-returnable items! So, overall, I am really happy with the purchases I made. If I have the opportunity to go back next year, I surely will! I think the really were some good finds mixed in, but only with some real deep-sea searching. My advice to anyone going tomorrow is to start with the shoe section to get the best picks since there are not many options but some real winners in there. Happy shopping! read more

When I first walked in I was disappointed because there was one large room with few tables of not so great items (it looked random stuff from Ross) and then there was an area with shoes for women and men. THEN I noticed that there was a whole another room!! The second room had a complimentary bar serving champagne and wine, hippeas booth, and coconut water booth. All complimentary of the event! So awesome! Btw those hippeas snacks were soooo gooood! Then the rest of the room was filled with racks and racks of clothes.. men's area and women's area. There was also an area where they were doing 15 min comp massage but the line was way too long and I didn't want to bother. The deals at the sample sale were crazy. My favorite find were these LANVIN men's trousers for $25! Yassss!!! Knocked off one star because the clothes were so unorganized.. clothes were hung on the wrong size category.. and they overfilled the racks so it was realllly hard looking through the racks without the clothes and hangers getting tangled and clothes falling on the floor. My arms literally were hurting and sore from having to push the clothes on each side every time I wanted to get one hanger off. Definitely would attend this event or similar events in the future though because nothing beats crazy sales like these!! read more

I'm not really a shopping fan to begin with. This sort of frenzied shopping definitely isn't for me. Wife wanted to go and we stopped in to see what it was all about. Not for us. We're more of the "research online", then go buy what we want without a lot of hassle. But I could see some people really getting into it. I had the opportunity to come and try to find some clothing at the warehouse sale but unfortunately, I came up with nothing. The venue does exactly what it needs to do which is provide Gilt City to store their things while people walk through the racks to try to find a deal. Overall, the sale was catered towards women's clothing. The men's section was 4 racks of clothing and 4 racks of shoes. Besides that, there was some housewares. The selection was limited in my opinion and on top of that, the sales weren't even that great. Looking at some price tags, I Googled the item and saw similar prices online. The highlight of the event was the free tea samples, the Hostess donuts, twinkies, and cupcakes, and the sake samples. Why not get a bit boozy to loosen up your wallet? If you are looking for some women's clothing, I suggest coming but if you are looking for men's clothing, I would not make the trip out to Hollywood for it. I went for the first time this year and had a pretty good time! My friend and I were on the guest list for Yelp Elite. We arrived 30 min before the start time and stood in a pretty short (at the time) line. By the time the line opened up though, it was so crowded at the entrance and there were no clear lines - the madness had already begun. We were lucky (maybe among the first 10-20 people in 1 of 4 lines... lol) that we just got in before the front line staff were getting very irritated and shout-y. I read lots of reviews from previous sales, so I thought I was prepared and armed to go in there and rock the shopping. I.. was not THAT successful at first... I read a piece of advice that the shoes go fast, so I should go straight to the shoe section and pick up all the shoes that I liked and shove it in my bag - then try. So I did that... and most of the shoes didnt even end up fitting and I didn't see too many shoes that Id even wear. I was able to snag a pair of sequined slip-ons for $2.50 though. LOL So I moved on around the first floor. Accessories were ALL GONE, the tables were a mess already.. like 30 minutes in. Then I went upstairs to the clothes and calmly combed through the clothes. Another confession was that I didn't realize the sale was 70% off of the lowest ticketed price until like maybe 1.5 hrs after I started shopping. SO SILLY. So I went back around to see what else I'd pay for given the new insight. I was in line to try stuff on for like 20 minutes, and decided it wasn't worth it. I dont even know what the dressing areas look like to even review it. I also read somewhere that they had pretty good men's clothes, so I shopped a little bit there for the men in my life. I found a paul smith jacket/coat that would've been like $180 from $1000. AMAZING. I ended up spending more on men's clothes than my own, because my clothes ended up being $3-15 each and I got some nice men's coats/jackets for like $50-80. Overall - really good deals. SUPER HECTIC (minus 1 star) and LONG LINES to check out at 9:30. Another HUGE turn-off was a group of shoppers that literally grabbed everything the moment they walked in and then went to the side upstairs by the clothes and were hogging and taking pictures or doing stuff on their phones for HOURS. It was my first time at this event and I dragged my husband along with me! Thankfully we were lucky enough to be stand in the Yelp line and got in pretty easily and were the first ones inside. They have tons and tons of shoes and clothes but not many handbags. My husband loved it because he found Prada shoes probably $700 for $100!! Aaaamazing! I also grabbed a couple of super gorgeous heels that both were $700 and I got them for $50! What a steal! It's a fun event and you've got to search through a lot of stuff to find something that catches your eye but it's fun! I got some great advice from someone on here, just grab stuff that you think you like and stuff it in your bag and think about it later. Cuz someone else will surely grab it if you set it down to "think about it". Also there is a small parking lot right next to it with FREE valet parking! There's not much signage but it's there folks ;) Then you stand in line for a little while but be sure not to bring a large coat or bag or else you will have to check it and wait in a completely different line. It was my first time doing a Gilt Sample Sale! Instead of leaving hella early to LA for the sale, I had a family lunch occasion and did not arrive to the Gilt Sample Sale until 3 to 4pm ish. Directions to the event was not hard but if you suck at reading the gps maps then you would have for sure gotten lost. The area of the event was a bit confusing and I got a bit lost, but, I was able to find it. The parking was in a neighborhood businessie and there was another "Valet Parking" which sucks because basically you are paying $5.00 when you could have parked far away for a cheaper price on the meter. You basically just park the car by yourself. Also, when I was walking out of the valet, I saw the only two main employees looking at the car that one parked in and it looked like they scratch the nice white expensive looking car! Yikes! So becareful everyone, can't trust them so called "valet" people! When arriving infront of the warehouse, it was confusing. I thought the Yelp and social media tables would be out infront or a line that says Yelp or any kind of social medias would be out in the front all and have you checking in with the pair of tickets that you won. Nope. I was telling the employee named Jessie that I am with Yelp and asked for tickets. She was nice enough to let me in but also bad because anyone could just lie and pretend that they won. I did not see the check-in line but just went straight inside The sale was not as crowded as what I had expected it to be. Maybe, it's because I came in later. Lots and lots of shoes, 4 messed up purses, scattered accessories, mens underware and socks, and the line where crazy and happy people pay (The first room on where you enter inside Gilt) Then you head on up the stairs and that is where you find baby stuff, mens and womens clothing, free coconut water, chickpeas chips, and wine are all complimentary! (Da foodie and wine) All so fancy named brands and not so fancy named brands. I read the price of the items and I thought it was the final price, but, after reading many reviews I finally maybe understood that there was more to it! At first I was bummed out that I couldn't purchase anything and would be walking out with nothing, but, thanks to Jessie, she got me a great deal, friendly, very helpful, and willing to help you out! Jessie really took her time to help me out! She was one of the best employee that totally helps out her customers, waits with you no matter what, makes sure you get a GREAT deal, and leaves you with a happy face! She helped me find an awesome canopy that was 59 bucks that went down to 6 bucks! No cash but card only! Love how there were tons of security all over and making sure no one steals! Next time for sure, I will know what to do! read more

Don't pay $20 for this. If it wasn't for Yelp Elite and Katie, I don't think I'll ever go. There wasn't enough things to choose from, might be because I went on Saturday and apparently there's always a Friday preview sale? The Siren orange studio was easy to find. Parking was available when I was there. Paid $2 for parking 2 hours. There are more free parking, but I was lazy to find them. I only bought a ring, but my plus one got 3 things for quite a cheap price. Didn't find anything I truly like, and wasn't ready to pay such high price for things I only like 'a little', such as a $499 Ferragamo wallet or $550 Longchamp bag. But there was a cute pair of Prada espadrille that turned out to be two left feet lol. There's wine, water and Luna bar available when I was there. The music/DJ was good. I'm glad at least we got something. And the location was in walking distance to Trejo's donuts haha. read more
