I love this store! It has so many unique one-of-a-kind things. Many items seem to be upcycled in a funky yet fashionable way. The prices are not bad at all, I don't think I've ever seen anything here worth more than $100. The owner is always helpful and willing to give advice on how to style clothes for a better fit. It's unfortunate that I have to leave a disappointing review because of my experience at this shop. What's especially disappointing is that I noticed reviews from years ago describing similar experiences, and unfortunately, mine was much the same. My first visit to Virgo was great. Leo was working that day, and he was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. I left with a very positive impression of the store. However, my subsequent visits, when the owner was present, were completely different. The first time, I visited with a friend. He was browsing a rack located in the back of the store near the dressing room when the owner abruptly snapped at him, saying, "These are not for sale yet." Her tone felt aggressive and dismissive. Later, after I had tried on a few items and was browsing the same rack, she spoke to me much differently and told me to let her know if I wanted to try anything from it. After hearing about my friend's interaction, we decided to leave. My final visit was even more uncomfortable. I had stopped in while out for a walk and wasn't feeling my best physically that day. I was quietly browsing when the owner approached me and, in an aggressive manner, asked if I was okay because my "energy was off." I was caught off guard and paused for a moment before explaining that I wasn't feeling well physically. Instead of leaving it there, she continued questioning me about my energy. The interaction felt intrusive and inappropriate, especially since I was simply trying to browse the store in peace. At that point, I decided to leave. Before doing so, I told her that she was being rude and projecting assumptions onto me simply because I was quiet. She seemed to insinuate that there was something wrong with me based solely on my demeanor, which made for a very uncomfortable customer experience. The entire interaction was strange and unnecessary. Unfortunately, she gives off the impression that everyone must be aware that she's the owner, and that attitude comes across in her interactions with customers. It's disappointing because the store itself has potential, and my experience with Leo showed how welcoming it can be. However, based on my experiences with the owner, I will not be returning. I sincerely hope the customer service improves. read more

I went to Virgo today for the first time and I've never had such a bad experience in a store. The owner Rana didn't acknowledge me at all until I was already undressed in the dressing room, when she yelled at me for trying a t shirt on. There was no sign indicating that customers weren't allowed to do so. Then, when I went to put the top back exactly where I found it, she told me I could just leave it in the try on room, even though I was already standing by the rack. I put it back in place and she didn't say thank you or make any effort to be welcoming throughout the entire interaction. It was such a strange and disappointing way to treat a customer, especially someone who came in genuinely excited to shop. read more

i contemplated even taking the time to write this review because it is clear that the "owner" of this establishment was rude out of pure cattiness towards another woman. that woman being me. had it been an employee being smug, i would have shrugged it off but when the owner of an establishment is crass, that's a big hell no for me. i've stopped in virgo sporadically since moving back to downtown and never had a problem until recently. clothes were always a hit or miss. this last time i walked in, i was a bit in a rush when i asked for some help finding an item. i asked a thin, short hair brunette woman behind the counter if she worked there as i needed help. seems that upset her as she replied with a loud "I'M THE OWNER." guess she's never heard about playing it cool and being humble. but i digress. luckily, she ended up leaving around the time i found a cute pair of shorts. i was about to purchase them when one a male employee informed me they don't take cash. i explained to him i had fraud on my card and was waiting for a new card in the mail. he was very sweet and accommodating and told me he'd hold them for me until my new card came in. fast forward to today i walked in asked if my hold was there. the owner said that she doesn't hold anything. i told her it was a man that held them for me, she then resumed yelling for said employee. luckily, i found the shorts in the back. i came up to the front to purchase them and again, it was him helping me. the tag on the shorts said $62. when the owner overheard the total, she told her employee that the price was wrong. we both looked at her like she was bollocks as the price was written on the tag. she went on to argue with him saying that she told him to mark them $72. as if that scene wasn't enough she went on to say in a childish manner "i don't feel like selling them anymore." (ummm... no class whatsoever) he already had my card so before she could say anything else, i told him to swipe it as i didn't care about the cost. everything happened so quickly that him and i both were taken aback at her behavior. i apologized to her employee for the way she behaved and for dealing with her poor attitude. he then apologized to me. both of us knowing why the apologies were taking place. p.s. as i came here to leave a review, i see that i'm not the only one that she's done this to. it seems the owner has a reputation of being a raging witch. so many things wrong with what happened earlier. never have dealt with an owner that is extremely unprofessional. 1, to argue with your employee in front of customers and 2, to change the price on the fly. the weird thing is, it's a lousy $10 difference. clearly she needed that $10. if it wasn't for how cute these shorts were i would have told her to go **** herself. i'm not one to get into arguments with human beings, but seems like she needs a taste of her own medicine. fortunately, i won't be the one to give it to her. yet, unfortunately, she'll end up harassing another customer due to her lack of professionalism and maturity. the juice isn't worth the squeeze in this store. spend your monies elsewhere. with love, a sagittarius read more

Used to love this store and spent a lot of money here, would even recommend it to friends. Came back to check it out after I moved out of LA. Experience was very different. One gentleman was super nice and helpful, another woman working was nice then became very rude and suspicious of my friend and I for some reason?She had her eyes locked on us and then proceeded to stand by the entrance. It was very off putting so I decided not to purchase anything. As we tried to leave she accused my friend of stealing and asked her to expose her pockets. Even after she did she proceeded to pat her down to be sure! I get the precaution to make sure no one is stealing but with her eyes locked on us it should have been obvious if someone took something? The fact that she thought it was ok to physically touch my friend without asking was a bit extreme. We were so taken back that we just walked out. The woman did apologize and said stealing has happened at the store before but I DO NOT think it was ok or appropriate for her to touch my friend even after she emptied her pockets like she asked, we were nothing but compliant and she took it a little too far. Buyer Beware! RUDE! I later looked at other yelp reviews and totally understood them after my exchange with Rana (apparently the owner) I inquired about a top via instagram that I really wanted to purchase and after receiving the bill via paypal I asked if there were any discounts available for the item or items and shipping costs. I received the rudest reply from her saying they never offer discounts and that it was ODD that i ask about any discounts being that I didn't have a venmo account and that paypal would take 10% of the sale. Only after I had agreed to accept her as a "Family or friend" so they didn't charge the 10%. (See attached photos) She even blocked me from the instagram profile. I am SO glad I did not complete my purchase. NO Thank YOU with an attitude like that I will never support a store like THIS and neither should you. Where is the customer service? If you're going to the fashion district, please don't skip Virgo. The girls who work here are awesome. There's a dressing room-- RARE in the fashion district. The ladies revamp vintage stuff and make it look totally new. A lot of people try to do this and fail. Virgo tries to do it and totally succeeds. With flying colors. Really, though, there are a lot of cool colors to choose from. I feel a bit bummed writing a review because I want to be the only one with their cool clothes so everyone stares at ME and me alone. I could be queen of summertime. But that's not fair. We should help out these ladies so that downtown has more flava than the same old rhinestoned tees you see everywhere else in LA. It's ecological because it's revamped vintage, but it doesn't look hippyish or frumpy. Admit it, that's a concern. I make sure this little shop is on my to do list every time I come to LA. If you're a vintage lover this is right up your alley. It has really cool decor and everything in the shop is pretty unique. A lot of good finds for vintage tees. I met Rana the owner and she was super sweet and helped me find the perfect Levi's that would fit my body perfectly. Yes, this shop has the appearance of silverlake boutique shop that makes girls feel comfortable, but if you dig deeper, you will realize what a scam this place is. I've been a customer for 4, maybe 5 years, it's been so long I can't remember! I have a collection of Levi's, vintage tees, hoop earrings and the prettiest dresses from there. What I like most about the shop is the curation of pieces from new, vintage, reworked. Most shops just sell what's trendy and pieces you can find anywhere. It's all thought of, I'm inspired by something every time Im there. The staff and owner Rana always make my day. Rana cracks me up-she's funny, clever and always has something interesting to say. I don't know how she does it but she literally remembers the customer's style, taste and pieces that he/she has purchased from the shop. How is that even real? AMAZING vintage store!! Virgo is definitely one of the best vintage stores I've ever been to. You wouldn't think you'd find a store like this in the middle of the downtown LA fashion district craziness, but it's such a great find. The store is owned by Rana Shoar and Alejandra Hernandez- who started the adorable accessory line Boos & Besito. Virgo carries a few of their pieces- stylish headbands with big bows, fringed scarves, novelty necklaces, etc. They also carry a great selection of vintage boots and belts, as well as a unique assortment of clothing. I know downtown stores to host some of the less expensive fashions so my expectations are low. However when I bought a rather pricey bag from here I thought I'd be fine. However after only wearing the bag once it ripped. I returned it to the store and they repaired it to have it rip again almost in the same exact spot. i heard about this place online and was really excited to finally check it out. that being said, i'm not impressed. i LOVE vintage stores. but all of the clothes in here were things i could make myself, but the price quadrupled. i could get the harley davidson shirts with the cracked screen print they were selling for $38, at a thrift store for $1.99. same goes for the distressed levi's shorts, you can get these for $15 at any flea market. i actually did make a purchase while i was there. a pink shirt from the limited that was cut high in the back. i liked it, but it had a noticeable stain on the bottom and was $48. so i asked the girl about it, and she said she would give me a deal. YAY right! she rang it up as $46.10. What a deal. I had such buyers remorse about it the next day I called to see if i could make a return. Just so you know, all sales are final. I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

honestly, the worst customer service you'll get from the most raggedy pop up store. i purchased two pairs of levi's ($350!) and asked for hemming services. when i went to pick them up, the pants weren't hemmed correctly; one leg was longer than the other. the hispanic sales guy was helpful and nice with remeasuring. however, the lady with black short hair was so rude. ive never been mistreated from anyone in my life. she was loud with rude remarks about re-hemming my pants even though it was their fault. she thinks she owns a shop in 90210 and forgets shes surrounded by homeless shit.. i left feeling upset and regretted that i gave them my business. a couple of days later, i called to follow up and she basically called me an idiot for asking status update. said "who do you think you are calling. we're only humans. call back later" she's a rude, miserable human being and undeserving of service and should be fired! i will never give them business or referrals. read more
