I went in looking ugh to wowing myself. Didn't realize how bad my hair looked until I saw the before and after pictures. I've always been afraid to go to new people for my hair dyes due to previous hair nightmares I've encountered with other "stylists". I honestly didn't want to put the one star but there was no lesser option. Don't not trust Venassa with your money or your hair. She does not know what she is going when it comes to color. She bad to apply three different times and her partner came in and tried to do some damage control and corrected her questioning her why she would even try the way she did. That day was a long hard day on my hair with damage I am still paying for months later. I tried contacting her and she never got back to me. I wasn't even looking for a refund. She always does a wonderful job in my hair and helps me understand what will work on my very think and wavy hair and what will not, making sure I have realistic expectations. Love getting my hair done by Vanessa! I let her have the creative freedom with my hair and come out happy every time! I've had pink hair, I've had multicolored hair and my hair is naturally super dark so we have to bleach it a lot but my hair still feels and looks soft and healthy! I have a system when it comes to working with a stylist. I go see them for a blow dry first. If they get that right, and I like them, I try them out for a cut. If that goes well, I move on to color. Vanessa got it right on all counts. I first met her at another salon. When she moved, I moved with her, something I've never done. Besides being a good stylist, Vanessa is really pleasant to be around. We always have a great conversation when she is working on me which helps the time go by. At her old salon, where she was a manager, i was impressed by how she managed the various personalities with calmness and professionalism. She will recommend products for any budget and she is very knowledgeable about all kinds of hair, long, short, straight and curly. Try her out for a blow dry. Vanessa is the real deal when it comes to hair. She just opened up her own salon in alameda. She did some amazing highlights on me and a great cut. She offered me beverages, made me feel comfortable, and offered great advice on how to upkeep my hair. She's very knowledgeable on different hair types and how the chemicals will react to each type of hair color, texture, etc. She doesn't try to sell you a bunch of products which is nice. She also lets you know what store brand hair products to buy that is comparable to the expensive salon products. I've had my hair done a million times and my bf loves my hair this time around more than any other time. Her prices are very reasonable and you really get an all around great experience with her as your stylist. I'm glad I found her. I think I finally found my go to stylist! read more

This woman has NO IDEA of coloring! She made a mess with my hair, did EXACTLY the opposite of what I wanted and instead of silver highlights I ended up with a full ORANGE head. She tried to solve it with several washes of purple shampoo, at no avail. I left the salon with my wet hair to fix it somewhere else, and now she is threatening me to take me TO THE POLICE if I don't pay her $175 for her mess! I can't believe someone can be so inefficient and on top so unprofessional as to treat an unsatisfied customer like a thief. DON'T GO THERE! read more

Moving to Alameda I had no idea where to start with looking for a new hairdresser. My hair was in dire need of some love as an outdated ombré had left it really dry and unhealthy. Vanessa was able to book me in on the weekend no troubles and did the most amazing job at fixing my hair. Roots touch up, fringe refresh and undercut and a good treatment, I've walked out of Vanessa's salon with my hair bouncing healthy. She also gives the best hair shampoo/massage!
