Stopped by for happy hour drinks. Smaller spot, Very friendly bartenders. There was live music and a back patio section that I didn't get a chance to view because I opted to sit at the bar. Great priced drinks both well & specialty choices. I didn't really come for food but the menu is nothing short of great options. Finished up with a Caesar salad and called it a day. I have been to "Hassayampa Bar & Grill" in the front of The Hassayampa Inn many times over the years; I even played music there ages ago. But not until I did a Yelp search to write this review did I know its actual name is "The Glass Bar." Well, knock me down and steal my teeth! You learn somethin' new... We had a very small pre-birthday celebration and reunion here on a Monday night for a dear old friend who came up from the Valley and was staying at The Hassayampa. (Yes, I know, Monday in Prescott is a bust. Atmesfir and Farm Provisions are closed. Everyone is home doing laundry. Even the colorful Whiskey Row regulars are asleep in their coffins.) So we just decided to meet "in the hotel bar" for a glass of wine during happy hour, to mull over the slim pickins available to us. We had no inkling of the experience we were about to have. Wow! Just wow! First let me say that our server, Kevin, is a SUPERSTAR! Accommodating, thorough, friendly, expedient, talkative but not intrusive, funny, endearing, and charming, charming, charming. (Is that enough superlative descriptors?) We told him of the reason for our gathering, and he said knew exactly what to do. You know, when you're in a celebratory and reminiscent conversational mood, outstanding service lets everything around you, including your cares about your beverages and food, melt away and boosts your social interaction-which is why you are there. Seriously, you rarely find this level of sophisticated service in our small town. Thank you, Kevin! Our meet-in-the-bar to determine-what-to-do-next turned in a delightful and memorable evening consisting of drinks, music, conversation, a light supper, after dinner drinks - in The Glass Bar - followed by drinks and after dinner cigars outside on The Inn's beautiful terrace area, late into the gorgeous Prescott night. Where Kevin continued to insure we would want for nothing. Enough about Kevin. Some of the other delights that made "The Glass Bar" our happy albeit unintended destination were as follows... The bar itself: The inside of the bar is beautiful and well maintained. Rich woods, stained glass, etched glass windows, high ceilings, comfortable seating, all impeccably maintained. The bar feels warm relaxed and intimate. The etched glass interiors windows and oversized street-view picture windows enhance this with a more spacious feel. This is the spot you can take your rich big city relatives to show them Prescott charm without the boot tracks on the floor. There are two small rooms that form an L-share, with a couple steps to transverse. But "step-less" entry is available at the rear of the main room. The main entrance used to be a glass door directly to facing Gurley St., but is now the beautiful stained glass door inside the hotel's Gurley St. entrance. The wines: The house cabernet was delish! That's what we started with. Sadly, wine is too often an afterthought in our cold-beer-and-a-shot-of-tequila bars. Not here. My Phoenix-friend own a wine bar and know their stuff. They were very pleased. If I remember, we tried a couple types. All I know is what tastes good to me, which many wines don't. Everything served to us was great. The victuals: The bar offers a complimentary crunchy-salty snack mix served in wine carafes. Pretty cool. We noshed on the Garlic Parmesan Wings which were some of the best wings I've had in the area. The accompanying Ranch Dressing for the celery (oh, please don't tell me you dip your wings in Ranch) was house made and outstanding. So good, we made them our supper. The live music: What?! What?! Yes, live music on a Monday night. We were treated to the sounds of a skilled saxophonist who played to smooth jazz and bosa nova backing tracks. Man oh man, this cat could blow! (Yes, people talked this way when I was a young man.) He had tone for days. The familiar tunes of some of the greats wafted in and out of our conversation. "Is he playing Jobim?" "Yeah, he is!" ...then back to exchange of stories. The history and lore: My friends were enamored by the story of young Faith Summers, who hung herself from the Inn's bell tower almost 90 years ago, after being abandoned at the hotel on her honeymoon by new husband. They were also a bit spooked by the stories of her ghost haunting the hotel to this day. I didn't tell them Mrs. Summer's room number, knowing my friends were staying in an adjacent room. Hehehe. The patio terrace: This lovely area has plenty of comfortable seating, pleasant lighting, small fountain, and a birds-eye view of the red-lit bell tower. (Perfect for either an introduction to, or a reprise, the ghost stories.)Though the area sits on the corner of Gurley St and Marina, the beautifully kept landscaping provides barrier, so you to feel you are in a secluded courtyard. Went with neighbors for happy hour yesterday and we were all very pleased. We had a very attentive waitress. Ordered several of the happy hour appetizers and they were very, very good. I love the Hassayampa Inn and the feeling of going back in time. Later, there was live music and that was a little bit too loud and we had trouble carrying on conversations. But we were really happy to see an older couple dancing together. read more

Fun local bar with live music and a great happy hour. $4 well drinks from 4 to 6 is hard to beat in this hard drinking town full of saloons. Located in the historic Hassayampa Inn built in 1927, the bar has a beautiful ceiling, stained glass, and big windows looking out on Gurley St. The bar menu includes some humongous burgers, cheeses, pretzels and salads. When I enter this bar I feel like I'm about to sit down next to Hemingway. I always bring a book and order their famous old fashioned (it's a secret: not on the menu). Once you order it it typically creates a chain of events of the others ordering it around you. The conversation gets light, the atmosphere is deeply relaxed and the sunset light shines in perfectly. It's not just the classy atmosphere or amazing drinks that makes this bar stand out so much: the bar food is out of this world. It's truly the best hummus that I've ever had outside of a Mediterranean restaurant. The jalapeno one made my eyes roll back into my head. I promise that I had this before I had a couple drinks and that this isn't an account of drunken taste buds. As we were enjoying the lobby of the historic hotel, we were waiting for the Glass bar to open. We had enjoyed some great beers in the area but we were looking for a good cocktail. Well this is the bar to step back in time and drink a cocktail and listen to some music. It is not a large area but felt cozy. I liked the stained glass and art. We started with an Old Fashioned and an order of potato skins. While relaxing a gentleman walked in and set up a keyboard. The Old Fashioned was perfect so ordered another with their pear salad. The musician started playing some 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's. A wide variety of music but we were having a great time and so stayed a while. When he took a break we spoke with him. His name was Doug Keller. A very friendly guy and he had a great selection of music. If you happen to be there when he is playing request a song. The Glass Bar was a nice, relaxing and quiet place to get away from the crowds. read more

I've enjoyed happy hour at the Glass Bar several times. Great deals on wine & well drinks, they have live music every night. This is a true "adult" happy hour. No loud 20-somethings being obnoxious I've tried several selections from the menu. The hummus trio is served with 3 types of hummus: black bean, cilantro, & jalapeno. Hummus can be bland if poorly prepared...this hummus was quite good! The salsa trio is served with gluten free chips & 3 types of salsa, all 3 are winners! I have also tried the shrimp cocktail w/avocado. The shrimp was very dry and rubbery, the avocado was brown in spots. Not worth $15! All in all though, I will continue to stop by Glass Bar...great drinks, music, & attentive service! read more

This beautiful, historic bar is our favorite place to go for music and happy hour. We go whenever the awesome Alan Harkrader is playing. Their recent addition, server Shelby is the best in Prescott! We enjoy the lounge menu, hubby likes the burger or hot wings and sweet potato fries, I go for the Spring Rolls or Veggie Crudite. Huck behind the bar keeps things running smoothly. If you ever find yourself in Prescott between 11am and 10pm I would suggest stopping in at Hassayampa Inn Bar. This bar takes you back in time with it's beautiful tin ceiling and stained glass back bar. The bar is really quaint and fits maybe 15 in the main area. They have a great menu of specialty drinks that will fit most booze swilling folks. My favorite is the Prescott Side Car, a nice combination of Rum, Cointreau, citrus and a dash of cinnamon. Tough going there and only having one. The Hassayampa Inn Bar is a nice quiet place to enjoy and afternoon in downtown Prescott. read more

Hassayampa bar is small and more "classy" than most of the other nearby bars. It has two levels, one right next to the small bar and than another larger, but still small, room a few steps down on another level. The drinks were good although a bit expensive but the service was good. I recommend the banana martini. They close early, at 10pm, but since they were still busy they still allowed us to order a few drinks after the official closing time. They had live music, and it was also more classy than what you would find elsewhere. read more

This place has an excellent 1920's vibe that give it character and enhances experience. My boyfriend and I are locals and have hosted several Meetups at this location. They have a good wine list and make a good chocolate martini (Chocolate Kiss). We have not eaten here yet but they do have an interesting yet delicious table snack mix. We are planning a couple of themed Meetups and look forward to making this place one our starting points. read more

A great bar that had a 3 piece band playing on Saturday night. Although it is comprised of a small area it is lovely. Great 1920's art deco decor. They have lots of specialty drinks besides from the standards and a great selection of top shelf alcohol. They even sell cigars which can be smoked in their outdoor patio. read more

The Hassayampa Inn's historic bar excels at creating a hostile, uncomfortable atmosphere. The bartenders treat customers like an inconvenience, and are unbelievable slow to take or make your order, even when the bar is practically empty. But leave your half-finished drink at your table while you go out for a smoke, and the bartender will have already taken it before you get back. Drinks are overpriced, generic, made with no interest or enthusiasm, and consistently stingy with regards to alcohol. I'd say grab a beer instead, but they have no beers on tap, and at $5 for a 12 oz. bottle, it's the worst beer deal for miles. What about wine? Well, after you've seen the bartender pour a glass of wine back into the bottle with a funnel, all wine is subsequently suspect. Yuck! With historic Whiskey Row within walking distance, there's no compelling reason to drink at this sad excuse for a bar. If you're searching for a bar with a similar look and aesthetic (but with much better drinks and service), I recommend The Point, less than a block away. Cheers read more

Over the past 5 years, we have had several opportunities to stay at the Hassayampa Hotel and have had a wonderful experience every time. Their lobby is spacious, quiet and reminiscent of an earlier time. The restaurant is peaceful, tasteful and the food particularly good. read more

If you are planning a special event, like a wedding, I would not book it here if you want it to special and you care about your out of town guests. The wedding I attended was at 4:30 with a pre-wedding mixer at 4. Check in was 4 and there was NO early check in so we had to drive from Phx to Prescott in out wedding outfits. Most decided to stay at other hotels but I didn't know to my detriment. The lobby wedding was a mistake as there were too many activities around us going on. The bar tender charged people for drinks even though it was a host bar. We had to ask several times to get our money back and some never did. The food was barely warm and the salad had NO dressing on it and the one in charged wouldn't listen. Most of the staff acted like we were a bother from booking to our entire stay there. The bride will be giving her own account later. I heard the bridal room was a laugh. They had to use bottle water to wet there's hair because there was no bathroom or sink in the room. This is not the place for a special occasions. On a positive note, our hotel room was nice and the bed was comfortable. read more
