The person (white male, redneck) got so mad to see me and my dog that he got really rude to us, yelled at us for walking in. I decided to just walk out of the shop. I called this business regarding a Window glass replacement, and Glass House Guy answered the phone saying he's busy, and to send him an email. So I sent the email Monday, and it's been 4 days. I had a great experience at The Glass House in Pasadena. I bought a coffee table with glass top at a vintage store and broke the top in transit. I didn't want to pay a ton, but loved the table. I call Glass House and Martin told me to email in the dimensions, so I did. I didn't hear back for a few days, and went to another glass place nearby, where they quoted me $430. I was about to pay when Martin emailed saying they could do it for $150. I dropped the glass off and it was ready in 4 days. Disappointing Experience with The Glass House I hired The Glass House to install a glass shower enclosure in my new home, and initially, everything seemed fine. Fast forward five years, and the heavy glass door developed an issue due to a broken bracket. My husband contacted Martin to explain the problem, and we requested a technician to assess the situation. After weeks of waiting, Jay finally came out to inspect the door and confirmed the bracket was indeed broken. He said he would order the part and come back to fix it. Months passed with no follow-up despite several calls and emails. Eventually, my husband managed to schedule an appointment with Jay. When he arrived, he removed the glass door, left screws and parts across on the bathroom counter, and placed the door in the hallway. He explained the bracket didn't match and said he'd return the next day with the correct part. That was three months ago. The door is still sitting in my hallway, and we haven't heard a word from Jay. When I called Martin again to request service, he claimed the issue was that we didn't like the part because it didn't match -- which was never the case. He said he'd pass along the message to Jay, but at this point, I don't expect to hear from him again. I've now called a different company in the hopes that they can fix the mess The Glass House left behind. I have been going to the Glass House for years (every wind storm) bringing in my hinged 1921 craftsmen windows for repair. I don't know about going out to the house, but when I bring them in I have great service, a fair price and excellent workmanship. When I do my own repairs, I bring in the measurements and typically have it cut right then and there, fair price. The putty I purchase at Glass House is the best there is. The Glass House is no longer owned by the original owners. It is not the same business and certainly not the same people running it. I am considering a call to the Pasadena Police with regard to their behavior but I am not certain that I have the time to pursue. After all, what they stole from my home was not what they thought it was. It was an attractive shallow bowl at 15"x 8" and it appeared to be Silver. What was not known by the people stealing it was that it was brass that was very poorly silver plated. Original cost under $100.00. Dropped by during a walk to get a quote on mirror glass for the back of the 1927 bathroom door of my home. Martin gave me a very fair quote not merely for the mirror cut to size to the door's inset (my original intent), but for professionally installing it too. Made arrangements to bring the door in (saving me money), brought it in. He kindly was able to work with my schedule, able to get the job done sooner than originally promised. Addressing some of the negative reviews, i personally found Martin friendly and easy to work with. There literally could not have been anything better about my experience unless we lived in a parallel fantasy universe where everything was free. Their products and original service were very good, but god forbid you should need any follow up on a problem you may have with your new shower door. Ours keeps mysteriously leaking and causing water damage to the plaster of our wall. Yes, they came out to try to solve the problem and we were told they'd be back "soon" to try a few trouble-shooting add-ons to hopefully fix our situation. Two months have passed without a peep so I called a week ago to get an update and left a message with the guy who answered the phone -- I was told they'd get back to me " right away." Five days went by without a call back, so I called again. That time I was told that someone would probably come the next day and deal with it. That next day came and went -- no one came, no one called. I waited two more days and then called again to inquire on the status of our repairs. I finally spoke to Jay himself (the man who had come to our house originally). Don't get me wrong -- he was very helpful and considerate before, but not this time. I was told twice that "his life doesn't revolve around my shower." When I reminded him that it had been over two months, HE was the one giving me attitude -- as if this were somehow my fault and that, as a paying customer, somehow *I* was the one who was being unreasonable or pushy asking for an update and, if nothing else, a return phone call to mine. When I told him I didn't appreciate being spoken to that way, I was told that he installs "thousands of shower doors and so mine is not special," and when I asked when I could hear back from him next, he again just said "soon." I tried to narrow that down to hopefully at least this week, but he was silent. I hope we will ever get our problem fixed, but I will not patron this company again, mainly because of the disrespect I received today. read more
