Their products and original service were very good, but god forbid you should need any follow up on a problem you may have with your new shower door. Ours keeps mysteriously leaking and causing water damage to the plaster of our wall. Yes, they came out to try to solve the problem and we were told they'd be back "soon" to try a few trouble-shooting add-ons to hopefully fix our situation. Two months have passed without a peep so I called a week ago to get an update and left a message with the guy who answered the phone -- I was told they'd get back to me " right away." Five days went by without a call back, so I called again. That time I was told that someone would probably come the next day and deal with it. That next day came and went -- no one came, no one called. I waited two more days and then called again to inquire on the status of our repairs. I finally spoke to Jay himself (the man who had come to our house originally). Don't get me wrong -- he was very helpful and considerate before, but not this time. I was told twice that "his life doesn't revolve around my shower." When I reminded him that it had been over two months, HE was the one giving me attitude -- as if this were somehow my fault and that, as a paying customer, somehow *I* was the one who was being unreasonable or pushy asking for an update and, if nothing else, a return phone call to mine. When I told him I didn't appreciate being spoken to that way, I was told that he installs "thousands of shower doors and so mine is not special," and when I asked when I could hear back from him next, he again just said "soon." I tried to narrow that down to hopefully at least this week, but he was silent. I hope we will ever get our problem fixed, but I will not patron this company again, mainly because of the disrespect I received today. read more

Accidentally cracked a bathroom vanity mirror when replacing a bulb within the recessed mirror lighting. It was 1 of 2 matching mirrors. Didn't have high hopes that a new one could be made that exactly matched the unbroken mirror. But Martin & his crew did it & the new mirror looks to be of higher quality. It took a little longer than expected since some off-site sandblasting was needed but I didn't mind. Nonetheless, Martin gave me a price cut due to the brief delay. I agree with Vivian's review -Do NOT do business with this company. Thye treat clients rudely and do not back their product and workmanship. I have been calling since July to have them seal the bottom edge of a frameless glass shower enclosure that they installed. It was installed incorrectly - all it needs is to be sealed. I have had NO luck getting anyone out here to take care of this simple problem. The answer, is "we will get it handled" and then there is no follow-up. I have tried to give them my invoice number, but they are not even interested in taking it. They seem to have been happy to take our money and run. When I asked this afternoon how I could get this solved, I was told to come in and see with the guy who couldn't talk (he has no larnxy - what a nasty way to talk about someone ). I said I did not want to write a bad review on Yelp and was told threats would not get it done any faster. I recommend that you do not do business with them if you expect to be treated professionally and have them back their product and work. I was a good and loyal customer to this shop, calling them whenever I had a glass-related need or emergency, but that ends today. Two weeks ago one of my office windows broke and I of course called Martin who assured me someone would be out in the next few days to fix it. Nobody called or came. On Monday I called to follow up and was told by one of the staff that it was on the schedule, but gave no details of when they would be coming to repair the glass. Again, nobody called to update me. A few days later I called again and was assured that someone would phone me back to schedule the repair. Nobody did. Please understand that the landlord had been asking nearly every day when the window is going to be fixed and was growing frustrated with ME as a result of them stalling. I know it isn't a huge job, but we have had hundreds of dollars in glass repaired or replaced by them over the years - and will no doubt have hundreds more - so I'd think you would make repeat commercial customers a priority. Apparently not. So today I called yet again. Martin answered and gave me the runaround before saying "it's not life or death" and basically telling me the repair could wait. Well, guess what... you just lost a customer and earned yourself a one star review for the bullshit attitude. I hung up and called a shop down the street whose owner was extremely cool and assured me he'd be here today to fix it. I don't know what's going on at Glass House as the service had always been excellent up to now, but no more... save yourself a headache and call someone else first, not two weeks later. UPDATE: The other installer is here right now fixing the window... arrived less than three hours after I called them. In the rain, no less. They'll be getting a five star review. read more

Martin installed five large mirrors for my house. He came out for an estimate and came out again to remeasure them all once we decided to place an order with him. Installation was challenging because the drywalls were not straight and the faucet was in the way but Martin knew what to do. He is a perfectionist and has a lot of experience with artistic sense. Price is very competitive. Also we had to increase the size of one of the mirrors but Martin didn't charge extra. You can feel that the work is done with incredible care and pride. In searching for a supplier for black tempered glass for a cabinet, I found Glass House. Apparently, this black glass was pretty unique and needed to be ordered. Martin, the owner, ordered 6 samples to ensure a proper match (he's a perfectionist I think). He kept me apprised of the job status all the way through and did a great job repairing the cabinet door. We went through 14 glass contractors before finding one (the Glass House) which simultaneously instilled confidence that they were knowledgeable and professional and provided a quote at a reasonable price. Martin at the Glass House came up with a solution for our sashes that no other vendor did---replacing some old rotten wood trim with nice anodized aluminum trim. His team worked around a palm tree that made replacing two of the four sashes we had done somewhat difficult. Other vendors had balked at this difficulty. Martin recognized the tint on our original windows, and suggested we get tint in the new windows---only one other vendor even noticed this. I was impressed that Martin was on site to direct repairs and materials preparation himself. It appears that The Glass House is in relatively high demand---if we had needed the glass repaired the same day we couldn't have gone with them, however it was worth the wait for the better solution and higher quality repair. read more

I had Glass House do some work at one of my properties in the Pasadena area. They were very professional. During the estimate, Jay spent much more time than the other glass companies i called in checking out what would be needed to complete my job. Their price was also more competitive than the other companies, and installation went really smoothly. They do seem a little disorganized because when I was initially setting up the appointment, they had some trouble finding it even though I had called earlier. Great customer service if you are in need of glass repair. I called for a quote while at work and they sent some one over to measure the window without my presence being required. I could have saved on labor charges if I knew how to remove and bring the frame in myself, but paying $70 to repair a 36 x 26 window was a whole lot cheaper than any quote I was given through places I found online. The next day, I called back authorizing them to fix the window and came home to an invoice on my door and a fixed window. This is the second time we have used the Glass House for window repair and we'll being going back again if needed. We have a 1922 Craftsman home and a couple of the windows are the original glass that uses glazing (window putty) around the edges to keep the glass in place. Two of the windows broke recently, so instead of just replacing the glass, I asked them for tempered glass. (These are in the bedrooms of toddlers). Although I had used Glass House previously, I called around to see if I could get a better price for tempered glass. One other local place I called was almost double the price! Other places averaged 40-50% more. These guys do a great job at a reasonable price. The turn-around was fairly quick as well (about 3 days - they can't cut tempered glass on premises so it's special order.). read more

It's not a good sign when you take down information, tell the customer you will be out the next day and then don't show. I called and spoke with Jay. He took down all of my information and gave me a quote. He told me he would be out the next day in the afternoon. The next day I call at noon to see what time they will be by as I had errands to run. The guy who picked up the phone put me on hold only to come back and say we have no record of your work order. He asks who I spoke with, puts me on hold again, then comes back and tells me Jay is with a customer and will be out to my place in an hour. NO SHOW/NO CALL = horrible customer service. I always seem to need a piece of glass for some project, and the Glass House has never failed to come through! Some of my projects: an inset mirror for an old wooden closet door, small oval mirrors for picture frames, a glass "liner" for a rectangular wicker basket, oval glass for a broken lantern, etc. I just called to ask about the price of glass for a couple of very large picture frames, and the price was about 20% of what I was quoted at Michaels! That will save me nearly $100. The shop is a little rough and informal, which some people seem offended by, but the service and prices are hard to beat. I like to go there because their workshop is very old and has a lot of character. read more

A little internet research led me to call and speak with Martin at The Glass House for an estimate. Martin was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable; the estimate was much more reasonable than some online ones I had received; and the estimated time of completion was very quick, so I went ahead and placed the order. Called to have a window pane replaced after dog broke it. They said it was such a small job they'd work me in around their other scheduled jobs. Two months later they still hadn't gotten to me. I finally begged and they scheduled me for the next day. I left work early and rushed to meet them. They didn't show up. I admit I was three minutes late getting there but there was no sign they'd ever been there. They didn't call to explain or reschedule or cancel, and wouldn't answer the phone when I called. The next day I got a call telling me I was out of their area. I would think that would be something they shuold know when I initially called and gave them my address.
