This is one of the most cursed apartment complexes possible. Not only is it full of rowdy college students who are always picking fights, but it's filled with car salesmen, weed smokers, and prostitutes. There are always non permanent residents from AirBnBs here. The turnover rate is extremely fast. The noise was atrocious. I never got a single good night's rest. If I could give this facility zero star I would do that. Yes, the apartment is nice and spacious but one bedroom in this location is not worth 4800 dollars which is what they were trying to charge me. They are overcharging for the area and there is not much amenities that also make it worth to pay that much. Now I am living for half the price one street behind and I couldn't be happier. When I moved in, I dealt with the prior resident not having paid their bills. I was utterly surprised how the prior renter couldn't pay their utilities (and the apartment was empty over a month). I was initially excited about this place and tried to enjoy the pool but as soon as work started, never had any time so basically not useful. Thus you will see most amenities are always empty. Sauna is always broken and doesn't heat up and one time I saw hygienic pad in it and never wanted to ever go back. Steam room worked but it is small and can be awkward if someone else comes which happened once. Pool was closed for a while and nothing special and not sure about cleanliness. The gym is spacious and has many equipment but you could pay 40 bucks and get the same in the area or go to equinox for the money you save on rent and have a lot more. There was incredible amount of dust in my apartment. If I left the windows open, the floors would turn into dirt in matter of couple of days so I had to keep my windows shut which defeats the purpose of having a nice big airy apartment. I had chairs in my balcony and when I invited a friend over and we tried to sit in the balcony. the whole thing was covered in dust... There is a fake fireplace and I am proud to say I ever used it and not worth it. The kitchen is spacious and has a lot of cabinets but most cabinets have awkward corners and you can't use the space efficaciously. The kitchen sink and bathroom often didn't drain properly and I would have to put in request to fix it often and it wouldn't last long until same problem happened again. Not to mention, when I first moved in there was multiple giant cockroaches in the apartment and I was like what the hell, cockroaches for this amount of money! They had a terminator coming in and the bug issues was later solved or I never saw them again because they come out at night. who knows. Note, I was in an updated apartment, most other apartments had very old looking cabinets when I did viewing. My unit also didn't have carpet and apparently some units have carpet. I didn't get any discount or special with move in and I was rushing to find a place and during renewal, they increased the max they can possibly increase and they have been very stingy asking unrealistic amounts of money for rent (and I did witness them negotiating with other customers but didn't do much of anything for me). [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had asked them multiple times to give me the price to negotiate so I can make a plan and I literally heard what they want 1 month before move out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You have to give move out notice 1 month before exiting so I literally had one day to decide if I am moving or staying and I had no arrangements made before I had to submit the move out letter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is done to basically lock you in a bad situation so you stay. I already had an idea where I wanted to move out to, So I immediately moved out and no regrets. Best decision of my life. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But everything was so inconvenient, when I tried to communicate with them months in advance and I got ignored until literally 1 month from my end of my lease when move out letter is due.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not worth spending your entire check in this apartment. The area is boring too. There is not much going on. Only catch for me was proximity to Ronald Reagan but I would never recommend this place to anyone and I found a place half the price literally one street behind. What's worse, it has been 24 days since I moved out of the apartment and they still didn't return my security deposit (which was close to 5K) and have not been answering my emails. Turns out I was also charged cleaning fee for an apartment I left dustless and cleaned many days and left it cleaner than I found. They tried to send "move out inspection a month before moving out as soon as I said I will move out which was also the most awkward thing. Turns out they are inspecting to see if they need to charge for painting or carpet replacement. I had never seen anything like this anywhere else where they will try to use your security deposit to update their apartment and use your money for regular maintenance of their facilities. Still waiting for my security deposit after 24 days and very frustrated and feel stupid to have spent my money in this building for an entire year. Please avoid these apartments. Not worth it. Living at The Glendon was one of the most disappointing and infuriating rental experiences I've ever had. During my 12-month lease, the air conditioning in my unit broke down more than 10 times. Each time I submitted a maintenance request, management would send someone to do a quick patch job that lasted a few days or weeks before the A/C failed again. Not once did they provide a permanent fix or replace the broken system. This meant that for $5,295 a month in rent, I was constantly left without reliable cooling in the middle of Los Angeles heat. That's unacceptable for a so-called "luxury" property. When I asked for compensation after enduring repeated failures, management outright refused. That tells you all you need to know about how little they value tenants once the lease is signed -- it's all about collecting rent, not providing livable conditions. On top of that, the floor plans are extremely outdated, the building is very noisy, and to make matters worse, it's not uncommon to find human waste in front of entrances and exits. For a property that charges premium prices, the level of cleanliness, upkeep, and overall management is appalling. If you're considering renting here, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere. The Glendon charges luxury rent but delivers subpar, outdated, and poorly maintained apartments, unreliable amenities, and a management team that refuses to take responsibility for tenant comfort or habitability. Overall not a bad place to live. good points: 1) close to UCLA: best location if you attend or work at UCLA/ hospitals and would like a short commute (walkable). 2) convenient: close to target and trader joe's. 3) room condition: livable; the rooms are semi-painted over. in general looks presentable. 4) amenities: has gym and heated pool bad points: 1)very expensive; marketed as luxury apartments but definitely not delivered. 2) NOT well-maintained. a) when I moved in, there is a rusty pipe that leaks yellow liquid whenever we use the AC and my door was slanted and has a huge gap. Microwave lamp did not work. I filed work orders online on the day I moved in. Door was never fixed. someone came to check on the AC 1 month later after I called multiple times. First fix did not help. second fix, I was asked to vacate the entire closet and move a very heavy five chest drawer so that they can fix the old AC unit above my closet. 6 hours later, still leaking. b) The pool is definitely not cleaned as often is it should be. There's dead leaved and particles at the bottom every time I go. The jacuzzi is inside the bathrooms and therefore gender separated and is also not as clean as it should be. c)There were around 20 flies near the entrance to the building and near trash room etc. The elevator often smells like dog piss and dog shit. There were lots of liquid stains in the hallways and the entrance. Clearly, the management doesn't bother and doesn't see that as a problem. d) They (possibly) charged us an extra $500 dollars when we first moved in and I communicated to the office through emails, calls and in person multiple times about this issue. and every time someone tells me it is resolved or the accounting department will look into it they did not. And I have to explain this multiple times and getting accused of not paying. The management has terrible attitude. 3)Not the safest. lots of strange people wanders around at night. Most are harmless. But they might be playing drums with the trashcan and shout angry swear words. 4)Noise: loud from the people as the bar nearby. 5) Frequent fire alarm: as often as twice a week but usually once every two weeks. Not great for eardrums. 6) The apartment is actually not as nice as you'd think, kind of old. And they only do a very superficial job in making it look newer. 3) packages: terrible; I have lost count of how many packages I lost here. Many delivery person don't use parcel pending. and get left on the racks or floor and get taken. It was very frustrating. I ordered things that was delivered. and took me a month to find. In summary, this place isn't a bad place to live. But I believe you can probably find a better place if you would like a nice place and your budget is how much they charge for rent. For me the failure of the management, the lack of care, the disgusting leak and the price. I'll be honest, if they charge a lot less, if I pay less than 2k a month for a single, I'd happily stay here. read more

The worst experience we've ever had. DO NOT LIVE HERE! We lived here for 2 years and we've never had such a bad experience living in an apartment complex. The list of problems we had during our time there include: -Numerous fire alarms in the middle of the night (while we had a newborn baby) -Massive leaking from our closet, which partially damaged our clothes -A/C broken for ~2 months during Summer -Homeless people were frequently hanging out around the complex and we had one homeless person found by our car in the 'secured' parking garage -We left our apartment in a great condition (can't imagine anyone leaves it much better) after we deep cleaned it before we left. We were great tenants, never had any issues, and don't throw parties or drink so there were no stains, etc. However, the apartment still witheld $1K+ from our security deposit. I've stayed in several other apartments and never had that much witheld (let alone anything). -Last, but most importantly, they leased an apartment to a dangerous socially unstable person next to us. He frequently yelled and made loud banging noises in the night, threatened my wife, was accused of stabbing someone while we lived there, and ultimately was kicked out because he COMPLETELY DESTROYED his apartment (photo attached). We lived next to this person for ~1 year and called the cops on him several times. One time, the apartment security told my pregnant wife to make a citizens arrest on him....comical. Moral of the story - it will be a mistake if you decide to rent here. It could have been a much better experience given the location. However, given all of the above and how expensive it is, it is DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE IT. read more

The smoke detectors for the building have been going off for 4 nights straight now! The amenities like the sauna and steam room are down for more than a year Elevators take turn not working Lots of UCLA students so it could get loud. Building security doesn't help with their parties, they tell you to call the cops. The security in the booth by the only garage entrance is not in there many times during the day to let guests in They don't up keep the gym or turn on the AC there. This place has a lot of potential but either the management doesn't care or cooperate doesn't like to spend up keep money. read more

The Glendon has been a wonderful experience. They keep the building maintained well and the staff responds quickly to all requests. The pool area is a great place to relax. At first I was disappointed that there isnt a hot tub. But then I realized that that might create a spring break type of vibe and that isnt exactly what I want. The gym is top notch. It would be cool if they would open the climbing wall, but it is what it is. I'm happy that they recently added EV spots. Great for my new car! Megan helped me get my unit and she did a fantastic job. She speaks honestly and isnt one of the pushy leasing salespeople that you sometimes find in other places. We were at the Glendon for about 1.5years. It wasn't a bad experience necessarily - the apartment was cosy and the fireplace was a nice touch. Overall well-maintained. That said, the management is truly awful. It's so hard to get in touch with them, and when they do answer, the amount of sass that comes across on the phone is astronomical - it's almost comical how rude they can be. Not only that, they're also incompetent - I have yet to receive my refund for my security deposit, despite having moved out multiple months ago and after multiple promises by the staff that I would receive it. I have happy memories at the building, all of which most certainly do not involve interactions with the management. If anything, I'm surprised I have happy memories despite the management. (That said, the only saving graces were Elizabeth and Mo - they're the best in the office by a million miles). read more

Do not rent here! They are abusing people's contracts to charge everyone as much as they can. Since they purchased the building while everyone is inside, approximately 500 families has got $200 monthly in rent increases illegally. And the management refuses that they are charging you. And they are supercomfortable to threat people with collection and eviction activities even in this difficult Covid times. Thus they didn't returned our deposit. I'm glad that I moved out. After the reopening I'll have a visit to LA court. This is unacceptable. Stay away, let the manager lives here by himself. read more

The owner and management of The Glendon Apartments should be appalled and ashamed of themselves. We'll start with security first, or lack there of. For some reason people seem to think these apartments are dorm rooms. I've called security numerous times to tell them that there's a large party going on especially during these times when large parties should not be happening, and the music is way too loud and you can smell weed throughout the hall. Security only knocks on their door and tells them to turn it down. Instead of saying if I have to come back up here another time I'll call the police. Did the music ever turn down? No. Even after three times of calling security the music continue to be loud. There's been numerous times where the gates have been left open for homeless people and who knows who else to come in and lounge around the apartment complex. There was once a large bag of clothes and a hyperdermic needle left out in the middle of the courtyard. Is there security walking around to make sure everyone is safe? No way. Security stinks. Let's talk about the look of the apartment. The carpets in the hallway are filled with dog urine. On every floor. You can see the stains, some of them are really small and some of them are the size of a manhole cover. It's disgusting. Oh yeah and in the lease it states that this is a non-smoking apartment complex when you can constantly smell cigarettes and weed every day all day. For a person who has asthma and allergies this does not work. When I called to complain, security hung up on me numerous times. Plus there's Air BnB going on in the apartments. Which I'm pretty sure is not allowed. Oh and don't even get me started on the fire alarms going off everyday sometimes 2-3 times a day. I could keep going but I'm going to run out of space. Our fireplace wasn't working, so Isaac came and helped fix it. He was absolutely great and when we told him our heater also wasn't working he took the time to check our water heater and fix the heater as well. He was extremely patient and nice. The parking garage 2nd floor seems to have a constant sewage spill, ozzing all over the floor. The water floods near the electrical outlets and the machines in the parking garage rarely function properly cause multiple guests problems trying to get out of the area because the people who are supposed to answer the call buttons hang up on people. If you are a UCLA student it parent of, beware of this apartment complex. There has been SEVERAL complaints against them for illegally holding security deposits. They prey on students and families that can't be close to their students to help them navigate how to move out and get their deposit back. If you ask for documentation of normal wear and tear, they refuse to provide it and just tell you to refer to your lease. They go completely against the laws in California regarding the return of security deposits. Really crappy management. read more
