Came to the airport early to have lunch before flying home, but my colleague can't check her bag yet (only 4 hours before the flight), so we stopped in for lunch to fill the hour wait. We arrived at the airport well in advance of our international flight. Unfortunately, we were so far in advance, the check-in counter for Icelandic Airlines was not yet open. Thank goodness The Goddess and Grocer is in the check-in area so we were able to get a bite while we waiting the hour + for the check in counter to open. I love when spots have both sweet and savory pastries. They have lots of sweet options but did have some savory as well. I was able to get their spinach feta pastry. They offered to heat it (I accepted) and it was a buttery, feta filled dream. It had the perfect balance of slightly salty feta paired with a buttery, flakey pastry and packed with spinach. It was truly so, so good. I also grabbed a bottle of kombucha, which was really good. I'm not a huge fan of kombucha but this blend of lemon and ginger was divine. The prices are about what you would expect to pay at an airport (read: too much). But, we were sure glad they were there to feed us and fill the time until we could check into our flight. I'm not sure how long this has been in Terminal 5 but I love Goddess and Grocer and soon as I saw it, I knew I had to stop in. I got myself a butter chicken samosa and masala chai latte. It tasted great. It's hilarious that the description for the samosa says "Indian perogi". I personally wouldn't compare the two but regardless, their samosa is massive and a whopping $5.99 each. read more

Pretty decent airport meal here. I had a gyro and iced latte. Nothing to write home about but it definitely hit the spot on this long layover of mine. It's the only dining option outside of the international security checkpoint in ORD. Staff was friendly and quick. I was able to sit in here for a few hours and hangout until my area opened. Very bad experience- firstly the lady at the counter did not greet and had very bad face expressions. She took the order and gave a wrong order. Instead of veggie samosa she gave chicken samosa. I came across this one at terminal 5 of Chicago O'hare international airport after I checked in my luggage and was looking for a place to eat. Due to some dietary restrictions I follow on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I was looking for vegetarian food in particular. What brought me here is the delicious aroma coming from this place. I couldn't help myself but check it out. This place looks like it serves food from a lot of cuisines across the globe. I could see all sort of Asian food, Indian food,etc. I was delighted to see Vegetable biryani being sold here and I ordered it without any delay. Seating : You can sit anywhere inside given the seat is available. . Food: The Biryani was absolutely delicious and exactly what I wanted to eat before boarding a 14.5 hours long flight to Delhi. It was almost like the biryani we get in India and better than most of the vegetable biryani I've eaten elsewhere. I would have added an extra star had the server not over heated and burned the upper layer. The quantity was perfect and so was the heat level. It also came with a yogurt dipping (raita) on the side. They also sell Chicken Biryani which I would try next time probably. . Value for money: for about $11.something, the food was totally worth it. Considering this is the only food option in Terminal 5 and I had 6 hours to wait to check in my bag, I decided to give this place a try and I was completely pleased with my order. The gyro caught my eye and it delivered on quality, taste, and toppings. They add some pepperocinis along with a delicious tzatziki to go along with it. The owner, Rahim, is racist! Deliberately targeting black people who sit in the restaurant a little "too long". My flight was delayed for hours, so I decided to wait at this cafe. I ordered coffee & food and proceeded to do work on my laptop. After a couple of hours, he approached me veryyyy rudely and obnoxiously. This was his first time talking to me and he said "you have been here for 3 hours ! You need to leave and make room for my paying customers! You are being rude, holding up space, I have other customers who need a place to sit". I said "excuse me?" And looked around confused about who he was speaking to, because this was completely unwarranted. He continued to yell for the whole restaurant to hear. Saying "Do you think you are more special than my other customers? I keep coming by to tell you to leave!" I said "sir, this is your first time talking to me, you never asked me to leave before this moment, so why are you talking to me like this?" He ignored my statement and started talking over me, saying I needed to leave or he would call the police. It was very embarrassing. I packed my laptop and left. But honestly, he looked like an idiot! Anyone who sat next to me long enough knew I did nothing wrong and he approached me unprovoked and unprofessional. Also, it was an Asian man who sat right next to me for just as long. He said nothing to him! The airport crew spoke with me after the incident and said he treats every black person like that. But other races are allowed to sit for hours undisturbed. Smh. Please avoid this place. People like him don't deserve business. First of all, what I thought I had gotten a vegetarian salad, had a piece of chicken in it and I bit into it. I am practicing veganism and this violates my practice. I really love the atmosphere of this place, especially in the summer. You walk in and it's like a deli or mini grocery store. The sandwiches are great and so are the desserts. There is seating upstairs and on the balcony outside. I will say it is not the cheapest but worth every penny. Nice place to meet someone for lunch or get some work done. read more
