Food is consistently horrible. You'd think that after renovating that they would've gotten better, but I guess that's too much to ask. Don't even try to ask the server to split the check more than two ways, or you'll get yelled at by the rude owner who takes your bill. read more

I was pretty excited to see the improvements made to the exterior of the building. After seeing flies around the dining area about a year ago, I had to give it some time before I returned, but all the effort they had seemed to put in raised my hopes. The new decor and layout are very nice additions, but the food I received was completely inedible. I ordered a breakfast burger. I thought that was pretty standard. Bun, burger, cheese and a fried egg. The plate that was served to me had a puddle of grease under the burger. I am not someone who turns away a decently greasy burger. I love myself some comfort food as much as the next person. However, When I picked it up to take a bite, the pattie almost fell through the bottom bun which was completely saturated. There was so much grease, I decided to save my stomach the trouble and just eat the fries. I wouldn't have recommended eating here a year ago and despite how pretty it may look on the outside, I still would not recommend testing your luck with this food. read more

I was here New Years day and my waitress Brittany was more than helpful they weren't too busy but still she was on point the wait staff was awesome and the service was excellent I got my food and drinks in no time and they were very very polite! I've always had a good experience eating here and they definitely didn't dissapoint this time. I will be coming back very soon I reccommend the golden eagle to all my friends. read more

I have gone to Golden Eagle for a number of years and have read some of the nastiest posts. To each their own, I am here to tell of my experiences. I LOVE the staff there - 5 STAR! We get care and attention to meet our needs and have not had a problem once. The coffee is excellent and hot! The portions are reasonable and then some - my hubby & I sometimes share or bring home our leftovers for another meal!!! The cheese and cinnamon roll bread is MMMMM GOOD! I love the lasagna and hot roast beef sandwich as 2 of my favorites. I have never seen the bathrooms dirty. Constructive criticism: Change your bacon and sausage back to what you did use because it was much better than whatever you are using now. I would not recommend this place. Our hamburgers were over cooked and dry, we asked for medium rare. The rolls were toasted and burnt, they were dry as hell. The tomatoes were not ripe, green and hard. Should have fresh Jersey tomatoes, they are right next door to New Jersey. So my fiancé and I decided to stop at golden diner for breakfast today, I pass it everyday on my way to work in Jersey and saw that it's been making some new renovations and it's still under construction but it seemed presentable enough to provide a decent breakfast. We park up, with plenty of parking space and go to the entrance that seemed to be only temporary due to renovations. We approached the cashier desk as we were waiting to be seated and it didn't take long for the host to recognize some new customers and seat us. The host was very friendly and amiable. She sat us and took our drink orders. We ordered just water to start. That was our mistake. We didn't realize they serve TAP water. Not filtered tap water but straight tap water. I don't want to seem crazy for making this a bigger deal than it is, but I don't drink tap water anywhere just because of water contamination and how bad it's become all over the country. So bottle water or filtered water is all we and our families drink. That would have to be the only downfall about this place. That and maybe just making their waitresses seem more welcoming to guests and not just a potential tip. The food was great though. I ordered the #1 breakfast special and it filled me up perfectly. Decent price and good food, just don't order the water until they start serving filtered water or you're comfortable with exposing yourself to potentially dangerous bacteria. read more

I came in for dinner the other night with my fiancé and as we were eating a waitress dropped some sort of glass or plate off her tray and it was obviously an accident. The Who I am assuming is the owner not just yelled at her but screamed in her face and told her she was dumb and other vulgar remarks in front of the customers! This was all over just a simple accident that I can guarantee happens all the time and to see how he reacted I can't even imagine how the other wait staff are treated over little mistakes or accidents. To top it off my food was not even hot but I was not going to complain because it wasn't that big of a deal and I didn't want to complain over something so little and have another server get treated the way I saw him treat that poor girl. Our server Dana was amazing and did everything she could to make us feel welcomed and comfortable due to the circumstances. I probably would not go back because a manager like that does NOT deserve my money that I doubt his hard working employees even see. If I were to go back or if anyone were to I'd definitely ask for Dana but I'd only go back if I'm desperate and it's the only place open. read more

My dad and I went here as we were traveling up the I-95. The food was really good and the server was really nice. The food came quickly, and the Cesar salad that came with my meal was almost big enough to be dinner by itself. It had a lot of croutons and dressing and parmesan on it, which is always a good thing. And the vegetable lasagna was delicious and probably enough to last me for 3 days (I brought the leftovers with me). They also gave us amazing bread, one with cinnamon filling and one with cheese filling, and there was enough of that to bring the extra bread in the car to snack on. The strawberry shortcake I had for dessert was also delicious. We also got a pound of cookies from the bakery area at the front and I've only had 2 of them so far but they are really good. read more

Our eggs had a damned spider walking on top of them. It was a tiny one, but a spider nonetheless. The owner practically accused us of bringing the spider in and placing it there!!! I didn't want to cause a scene so I let it go. They replaced the eggs but didn't even offer to take the eggs off of the bill. I frequent this diner and the food is good. However, last night I ordered take out and noticed they charged me a 1.00$ extra for a take out container, .90 cents extra for take out, and another .90 cents for a service charge??? Then had the nerve to put at the bottom what a tip should be!! When I asked the host, he replied with "Yes, we charge for takeout". The owner could care a less about it even though there was a camera right there. we waited for the police to come owner directed to go down in the basement with an employee who knew how to view the video the employee could not speak English or know how to operate the security video. Ordered the steak and shrimp and noticed the shrimp were not devined. When asked about the shrimp not being deveined we were told by management that they cook shrimp with the veins in which means anyone who orders shrimp is eating shrimp poop. I want to start off with the fact that I've been here multiple times. The first time, everything was great, it was around lunch, the service was fantastic, the food was fantastic and I decided to make it my go to diner. The second time I brought my mother and she ordered a cheese quesadilla, when it came out it was just slices of cheese ONTOP of a folded tortilla, we spoke to the manager about it who told us we were wrong about wanting to order something different. So today I decided to give this place ONE last chance. Came in with my boyfriend and kids. We ordered two Reuben's. One pastrami, one corn beef and we split them as we always have. The kids ordered typical kids meals. When our food came out the Rye was completely under toasted and the fries were not well done. As a server myself I know that the cooks don't always listen to what the ticket said. One of the kids meals was completely over cooked, and the other was under cooked! (Roasted turkey under cooked, chicken fingers over cooked) The manager/host came up to the stand (which was directly behind us) and started coughing very loudly. I turned around to make sure he was ok and he's facing my table and coughing without covering his mouth! At that point I had enough! I politely asked our waitress for a box & the check. When I went up to pay the same manager/host was there to cash me out, didn't even ask how everything was just grabbed the money out of my hand! The entire time I was there the manager/host was yelling at the busser about cleaning tables; from what I saw the busser moved very quickly and there was only one busser from what I saw so yelling at him was uncalled for especially in front of guests! He also yelled across the restaurant several times for "Ashley" to come get a beer for another server, instead of just walking his lazy a** the 5 feet to the table it needed to go to! And last but not least, the manager gave me and the kids a dirty look and scoffed when one of the children asked if he could go give our server her tip, which is completely uncalled for and unprofessional! I told him yes but he needed to wait until she was done at the table, which he did. He then waited for her by our table and handed her the tip and smiled. She was very polite to all 4 of us and addressed any and all concerns we had! I'd suggest my server find a job elsewhere, she was absolutely fantastic and the ONLY reason I'm even giving 1 star! I will NEVER be back unless the management changes!!!!! I have been a server for over 10 years now so I know what is expected out of servers, bussers & management and this manager was by far one of the WORST I've ever seen in any restaurant! So to the lovely server with the bandana headband; GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN! You're a great server and plenty of restaurants would be lucky to have you as a part of their company! read more
