We were told we were able to go whenever that it was wide open we were free to go whenever. I arrive to the putting green someone is teeing off no big deal but then start to get ready to go five minutes later a single flies by us no mention of it all of this happens before my time. We tee off are immediately pinched by a two some in two carts behind us and make the turn in 2.5 hours. I grab a few snacks in the shop took no longer than 3 minutes we get gapped by a foursome of two beginner golfers and a father and son. I mention this to them they claim to have teed off at 11 it was 2:45 by this time no way that happened. Back nine takes around the same as the front even though we were about to play through the original foursome ahead of us but alas this was probably my only round at lake presidential for a while until they fix their whole system.

I was a member of this club for 10 years and left for many of the same reasons 100s of members…read moreleft. Great facility, great course but they just can't get out of their own way. There are some great people associated with this club but there is still a small contingent that just don't get it. I stopped by to visit some friends who were there to play in a senior A team match. I watched as they were ridiculed for requesting separate golf carts for social distancing. Not only was their request denied but one gentleman proclaimed that Covid was a "hoax". Really? Without touching on the ignorance of the comment, It's just another example of why this club has had a history of financial trouble and bad operational decisions. Every club, private or public relies on outside events to supplement their income. Treating guest of the club this way is not a good business practice regardless of ones opinion of Covid. One can be sure that these four guests will share their experience with others and it won't reflect well on The Cannon Club. And, that is unfortunate because I would love to see this club leave the past behind and succeed.

Quicken Tournament Review:…read more Kyle Stanley is the 2017 Quicken Loan Champion. We received an invitation to come watch the tourney & hang out in one of the VIP tents...it was good times. The Par 70 golf course is situated in the middle or amongst Avenel Farm, providing regal views of the residential, equestrian, swimming & tennis amenities. The landscape & upkeep was impressive throughout the golf course & surrounding greenery. The staff inside our tent were extremely hospitable, especially during the interment rain fall as they reset as many times necessary to accommodate everyone. The food & beverages were decent. I even popped my head into the Mad House to look around & the employees on hand were just as friendly. The only negative point of our visit was the interaction with the red shirt staff at the main entrance to the tourney if you did not have a parking pass...we opted to take Uber. Aside from their constant screaming that they work for the Tiger Woods Foundation, they were rude & boisterous to the Courtesy Shuttle Operators & individuals seeking assistance. Other than that, it was an enjoyable & entertaining 1st visit to watch championship golf.

But the computer on the golf cart kept reminding us that we were 10 minutes behind speed of play (with zero golfers behind us). I complained to the pro shop after the round about the beverage cart. They left me with the impression that they didn't particularly care and that was just the way it is.

The River and Lakes golf courses were kept in great condition and very challenging. The Queenstown Harbor location was also very convenient to a number and variety of very good, local restaurants. My son wanted to learn golf and I wanted him to learn in an environment without all of the…read moredistractions you have at the range so he can focus on stance, swing, and feel. After some research, I thought @GolfHouse would be a great first experience for him since they offer junior coaching and it's similar to a video game. When I emailed them with questions, they were the most quick and complete in response than any of the other Ashburn area courses. At this point we're 3 sessions in. Coach Ju Hee is very professional and confident, but has just the right style to keep my 10 year old engaged. In each session she has walked the line effectively between correcting swing issues and helping him understand how the game works, while also keeping it fun and engaging for him, which is probably the most important part at this point. The sessions involved 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of free time in the bay which I'll sometimes use to take a few swings with my son. So far, this seems to be the right mix. Coach also shared the before/after swing photo I posted from session 2. While I'm not sure if other local coaches have this type of tech, I think this is a significant advantage because of the real-time feedback and insight it gives her into exactly what is happening. It's also great for us to see the progress he's making. Overall, I definitely would recommend @GolfHouse and Coach Ju Hee for lessons. At some point I'll probably book a bay with some of my friends who are more serious golfers during a lesson and see what they think about it.

And I think the more intimate and quiet nature of the scenery makes it the better choice. We recently visited for mini-golf with our 9yo, and we all had a blast! The course is nicely challenging for very amateur players like ourselves, but not too difficult to be frustrating. Everyone had a wonderful time. The course itself isn't the shiniest and might be due for some TLC. But, it's clearly been renovated over the years. It does not have decades of wear and tear showing. The tee-off pads looks fairly new, and the greens aren't tattered or anything. It's a nice escape for a family outing. Whether you need golf supplies, want to practice your drive, or fancy a round of putt-putt, this is a wonderful destination!

Course is in horrific condition. The greens are the worst. They are not cut down and completely beat up. You cannot even putt on them. The tee boxes aren't much better. Very bad shape. I could have spent another 20 bucks and played 9 holes on a regular course. After the first hole , I was going to go back for a refund. Rumor has it they are trying to rezone to build homes on this property. Now I understand why the Par 3 is going to pot and the batting cages are shut down.
