Thankfully (at least in this instance) I happen to live in a part of Chicagoland that is like the 3rd Reich for consumerism. There are not too many big box chains which do not have a presence here, so when I need something in a pinch it's easy to take care of business. I have been in this Clark's store at Woodfield on a couple of other occasions, so it's long overdue that I give them a review as my experiences have always been excellent. My most recent visit was no exception. I should also add that I am a huge fan of Clark's just in general. While not a massively popular brand, they have a very dedicated and loyal fan base and you can count me among the indoctrinated. The Wallabee boot in particular is probably their most iconic item. I own 2 pairs, but on this particular occasion I was looking for business casual shoe to rock with chinos and slacks. To those not familiar with the interior of Woodfield, Clark's is located on the lower level. The most hassle free way to get there is to park in the upper lot Adjacent to PF Chang's, and then come in that entrance and take the escalator down. I was greeted initially as soon as I came in and it was not long before my salesmen was measuring me and brining boxes from the back for me to try on. My more frugal side really wanted to buy a pair of wingtips that was on sale for 60 bucks, but after I tried on the brand new suedes that they had just gotten in stock it was all over but the fireworks. I had found my shoe. Another important factor to keep in mind is that this store will ship any shoe Clark's makes to you for free. So if you get sized and they do not happen to have a shoe in stock that you are crazy for, they can have it to your house in a few days, and you can still get measured to insure a proper fit. Always a pleasure to do business with Clark's. Great product, great staff and fair pricing.

I hate shopping (especially shoes!) so just wanted to fork over my dough and leave. Fast forward two weeks ago when I'm digging in my closet for dressier shoes for Open House. Voila - those Clarks I bought! I put them on..and realized the left shoe was floppy. Like, stretched up. Wtf? No likey. Needless to say I grabbed another pair that night. I headed into Clark's this afternoon with the goal of an even exchange. I dread stuff like this, so was mentally forelseeing a hassle: or me having to explain why I JUST realized - 9 months later - these shoes are wonky. How I'd have to point out that the leather on the left looks stretched, etc. I was greeted by the sales staff and stood in line for a bit. The lady in front of me commented what good service she had from the male associate behind the register. When it was my turn, he asked what he could help with. He checked their current inventory and when they didn't have any in stock, promptly ordered them to be delivered to my residence. Didn't bat an eye or bust out an inquisition about my receipt. I was in and out pretty quickly. Shoes will appear on my doorstep soon. Yays. A much better experience for sure.

Mark Drugs charged 18% more, and required advance payment over the phone (which the other pharmacy did not). Their lab then took twice as long for the prescription to be ready. As I said, they were very nice but I will likely not be able to afford their steep prices.

My doctor (Dr. Z) strongly recommended Van Driel's out of all the possible (and closer) locations I could have gone to. This definitely was not the closest location, but I am so glad I made the trip. Also another important factor was that Van Driel's does Saturday appointments, so that was wonderful as I didn't have to worry about leaving work early to get there or deal with rush hour traffic. This was new territory for me as I didn't even know you needed a prescription or had to get measured/fitted for compression stockings, so this was a very informative visit for me. Claudia was absolutely wonderful as was the second woman (didn't get a name) who took my information upon arrival. After taking my measurements, Claudia explained to me the way the compression stockings worked, how they were designed and fitted and how to put them on/take them off. I had no idea it was that involved. Claudia explained the process for putting the stockings on properly as well as covered what not to do when putting them on, which is just as important it would seem. After the explanation, she went through step by step on putting then stocking on, then had me do it so she could watch my technique, while giving me tips and pointers during my attempt to put one on. She went through the process again on how to remove the stocking as well as the proper height to pull it up on the leg. She also discussed options with me as to what type I could get (toes covered or toes out). Claudia also covered my options as far as insurance goes in covering the purchases, so that was helpful. I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of look and feel for the stockings, but they were not as tight as I thought they would be and looked fine. COVID-wise, both Claudia and the other woman were wearing masks (as was I) and there was hand sanitizer available. While I was being fitted, Claudia had clean disposable pads on the floor as well as on the angled platform where my foot was place for the fitting of the stocking. While being fitted, Claudia mentioned that she knew my doctor very well as he had recommended many a patient to her location. I laughed because although Dr. Z said I could go to any of the locations on his the list he provided, he made a point of circling Van Driel's on the paper in a bold black circle. She mentioned that Dr. Z said many years ago that he trusted Van Driel's for fittings because it meant he wouldn't have to check the fitting later. Claudia mentioned that most doctor's most likely wouldn't check the fitting once you purchase the compression stockings, but knowing Dr. Z, he would most definitely do that if he didn't have complete trust in the vendor I had purchased them from. That speaks volumes for me. So if you or a loved one needs to purchase compression stockings, I would recommend this place highly. I also noticed that they offer other compression equipment for wrists, legs, etc., so it looks like one stop shopping for all of your compression needs.

It's great getting items here if you're trying a new sport and need the equipment but are not sure you're going to stick with it. They have a huge inventory especially golf clubs and woods. Service is friendly and they are very helpful. They are located within the strip mall next to Jewel Grocery store. You can call and ask if they have what you need and how much inventory they have of an item.
