    Piano and jazz mocktail

I came to The Good Wolf on a Friday night and I was surprised it wasn't busier! All the service staff were super friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very well decorated and felt sophisticated. I do wish they had a stricter dress code for the staff because some people's attire seemed too casual / not aligned to the restaurant's ambience in my opinion. I tried the following: -Piano and Jazz NA cocktail: it was good, a little too tart, but not bad for a NA option (4/5) -Cheese curds they were just okay (3/5) -Burger was phenomenal and had a nice spice to it (5/5) but unfortunately the fries were room temperature and definitely the low light of the meal (2/5) A solid four stars- I'd be happy to go back but I probably won't become a regular. The burger is definitely worth trying and if they clean up some details / make some easy adjustments to the food quality it could definitely become a 5-star stop.

The service was excellent and the restaurant decor made an evening with friends feel just the right amount of elevated and laid back. The happy hour menu had great options and then when we ordered for dinner everything came out perfect. Maybe the best burger in Chicago?? Will have to go back and try again.

    Lemon Curd and Toffee Pudding

Enjoyed everything. Ambiance is cozy and welcoming. Staff was exceptional and friendly, made a perfect dirty martini and espresso martini. We had the cheese curds which is a must do in any midwest bar but it's a tad elevated here with two dipping sauces and in tempura batter. We split the carbonara which was made perfectly- every bite I savored. He had the good burger which was great but a little overcooked. I had the artichoke parm - everything about it was awesome. Bread I have to say was the best part. We split both desserts and we were both full but managed to eat most of the dessert. Would recommend this now that we've tried both The Good Wolf and The Little Bad Wolf, both were great but I like the Good Wolf better for the menu and cozy atmosphere and the super friendly staff.

This place is a fancier sister to the Bad Wolf. Perfect for a romantic date night! I visited twice, and the lighting can get pretty dark depending on where you're seated. They don't take reservations, but I haven't had any issues being seated right away during the weekdays. Highly recommend the cottage fries. I love the thinly sliced potatoes with prosciutto complemented with the softest shaved manchego. It's a good size as well. The sticky toffee was amazing. It came out warm and the combination with ice cream was excellent. Gnocchi and duck was salty to me, and the dish was small for the price. The gnocchi itself was so soft and yummy though. There was fish dish that is no longer on the menu that was delicious and well seasoned. My friend enjoyed her carbonara as well. The carbonara is supposed to be one of the larger dishes so I would like to try that the next time I visit. The drinks here were great. I would visit the bar just for their cocktails. The service has been consistent both times. I can't wait to get the cottage fries again!

didn't think a step up from Little Bad Wolf was possible, but they achieved it. Incredible food and awesome staff with a classy bar and bartender to boot. A perfect date spot. Cheese curds were unique, all the sauces were great in different ways and the breading really was great. The Carbonara and double decker both were phenomenal, with both being so different from each other but nailing the flavors. My wife had named this and one of the best Espresso martinis in the city. Love The Good Wolf and everything chef Kohli is doing.

I'm obsessed with this new place in our neighborhood, I really loved the gnocchi and duck and the toffee pudding was a blast Service was also great, if you like fancy vibes you're going to love the ambiance because lights and art are awesome, perfect for a date night!

    Reservation cancellation email

Do not rely on this place for any important occasions. They cancelled our Valentine's Day reservation day-of.

If you've ever gone to Little Bad Wolf (which if you haven't then that's also recommended!), then Good Wolf is a must-visit. As the sister restaurant, it brings the same inviting atmosphere but elevates the dining experience with more refined flavors and creative dishes. The monkfish is a standout -- perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Don't skip the lemon dessert either, it's a delightful, refreshing finish to the meal. The service, drinks, and food were all top-notch, and the ambiance makes it a great choice for a date night or a casual get-together with friends. I'll definitely be returning! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique yet approachable fine dining experience. Can't wait to check it out again next time I'm in town!

Carlos, our waiter, was so knowledgeable and friendly. He clearly has tried everything on the menu and has a deep understanding of flavors and pairings. what not miss - 1. fried artichoke - heavenly, fried to perfection 2. blue cheese + pear dipping - so smokey you'd think there was bacon in it, with the perfect tang of the pear / mustard flavors. (this plate was something I NEVER thought I'd order and enjoy, I'm not a blue cheese fan normally) 3. short rib wellington - I rarely eat meat, but wow it's so tender and the spread in the bowl pairs effortlessly. The pastry on the outside wasn't doing the dish any favors but didn't take away from it either. A small portion for the price so definitely a special occasion plate IMO LGBTQI+ friendly atmosphere. Was not crowded on a Thursday late night. Great prices on small plates + many pour sizes to fit your budget. What I didn't like- Very close to your booth side neighbors with little separation, I would recommend a stand alone table for more intimate dining. Also, I would enjoy it to be a bit darker (yes it was dark already, give me even more) and the music a bit louder. The check came, I gave my card, the check came back with an extra drink on it that they forgot to add before giving me the check. I will absolutely be back!

For an extra $15, it made sense to order the prix fixe menu with the wine pairings. A cocktail likely would have cost more. The soup and salad were delicious and paired perfectly with great wines. We all loved our entrees, although I suspect I loved my short rib wellington a little harder. I'm not a huge desert person but I can't stop thinking about that Nutella creme brulee. Also paired with a great dessert wine-- possibly the only dessert wine I have ever really liked! Yes the portions are a little smaller for restaurant week, but with four courses I was happy to not feel like a glutton at the end. Incredibly thoughtful and knowledgeable service made this a great choice for dinner. The space is well laid out too. We didn't feel like we were sitting on top of people, and it was easy to have a conversation even when the room was pretty full.

I went for brunch and had the pancakes. To my surprise, the restaurant does not serve standard breakfast meat, so I got a side of pastrami to accompany my pancakes. The pancakes were smaller than I expected, but were fantastically fluffy with a very tasty vanilla sauce. The fruit was all fresh and flavorful, and the pastrami, surprisingly, accompanied the pancakes well. It was a perfectly seasoned and incredibly moist. Would come back to have the actual sandwich. Service was solid, if not a little slow, but everyone we saw was incredibly friendly. All in all, this place is a fantastic addition to Andersonville and I highly recommend you give it a try!

For my entrée, I had the double cheeseburger, and it was outstanding. The patties were perfectly seasoned and grilled just right, topped with plenty of melted cheese on a soft, fresh bun. I upgraded to the truffle fries, and they were definitely worth it--crispy, flavorful, and a perfect complement to the burger. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with a diverse crowd enjoying the beautiful day. What really made the experience exceptional was the service. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing, checking on us regularly to refill our water, see if we wanted another drink, and make sure we were enjoying our meals. He even let us know that if there was anything we didn't like, he'd gladly have it replaced, which showed how much they care about their guests. Overall, Vincent delivered great food, excellent service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

Hopleaf Bar is hands down one of our favorite spots for dinner and drink in all of Chicago!…read more One key to a successful dinning experience at Hopleaf is knowing the three different spaces to engage. When you first walk in, you have to show your ID since this is an adults-only bar establishment. (1) You can then choose to sit in the front bar area, if you want a full menu, but use the bar for ordering service. (2) If you keep walking through the front bar area, you reach the host stand at the top of the ramp. This is where you can put your name in to sit in the main dining room, upstairs, or outside. (3) However, you can also walk through to the left of the host stand to another bar area that has full menus, but bar service for ordering. This is our preferred spot because we can often find a seat and order with the bar. Do note that, during busy times, part of this bar area is managed by the host stand and will be labeled as such. The extensive beer menu is our favorite. We have our favorite food items, so all our decision making revolves around which beer we will get. They always have a bit of everything style-wise, from all over the world, but with a local-brewery focus. Seasonal emphasis is also taken into consideration when they curate the beer list. It is always rotating and we love it! Beers are served in the recommended glasses from the breweries. It's a great drinking experience from start to finish! Our food orders are eternally set: I get the Nueske Ham sandwich with fries and aioli. My husband gets the Reuben sandwich with fries and aioli. This meal is so perfect we'll probably never get anything different, despite the menu being delicious across the board. The wildest we get is sometimes splitting the two sandwiches. No reason to mess with a good thing! Other notable great things about Hopleaf: (1) Kind, knowledgeable, and professional staff. (2) Reasonable prices for high quality and great variety products. (3) Clean Belgian Bar decor/vibe with lots of space for folks to enjoy their time. (4) They are open late and serve food late. Thank you for being an amazing local spot, Hopleaf! We'll see you soon!
