I'm old enough that I still remember doing the world-class happy hour at Dos Urban Cantina at the same address now home to Bar Parisette, a newer space from the Table, Donkey & Stick folks in Logan. I hadn't been back to check out the other restaurants in this space since Dos closed a few years ago, so I don't have the history on how this space has turned over a bit in the time since. I DO know this much: Bar Parisette is a strange ride. That's because I'm not really sure what it is going for, based on a dinner I had at the space last weekend. Bar Parisette, for a lot of reasons, gave me the sense it was going for French bistropub. The steak frites, the burger, the snacks, the drinks...all of that felt like it was right at home, but none of it was as strong as the food I've had at TDS. I went with the burger specifically because the burger at TDS is so good, but it just...wasn't, here. The meat was a little plain, the fries were fine, the bun was solid; the pieces were there, but as a package, it wasn't humming. The almonds were an interesting choice, but not one I would run out to make again; the trout dip was a winner with a couple of the folks in our party, but I skipped it since trout dip is not really my thing. I think the vibe was more a turnoff than the food and drink, though. Pardon my French, but it just wasn't sexy in here, and even though it was a Saturday night, it wasn't really hopping inside the space. If there was music playing, I didn't hear it or don't remember it, and the layout at Bar Parisette is functional but doesn't allow for the sorts of people-watching I like at other places in Chicago. (This became especially pointed when we left and walked next door to Gretel, which was jam-packed.) Service wasn't pushy, but it was certainly aggressive; our server came over three times in the first 10 minutes to check on our need to order, despite the fact that we were clearly a group that had not caught up in a while and had not spent much time with the menus. (European, this was not, at least in terms of speed.) But then we DID order, and it took 20 minutes to get our drinks and 30 minutes to get appetizers...then another 30 to get dinner. I didn't notice this as much because I had a late lunch, but my wife was showing signs of "hanger" that got more belligerent as the night went along. "Hurry up and wait" was never more apparent than this, and the staff acknowledged that it took too long for our food to come out, especially in a space that was almost completely empty by the time our mains came out. For $300 (this did include an $80 bottle of wine, note), my expectations are a little higher. Dos, this is not, and it's hard to imagine a scenario where I would come back to experience Bar Parisette a second time. read more

I think this place is getting lost amongst all the other great spots anything 50 yds of it and that's a shame. If you're in the area, especially during happy hour (extended to all day on Mondays, closed Tuesdays), stop in. All the areas are lovely and comfortable (bistro, dining room, bar, kitchen counter) and service is friendly and knowledgeable. Absolutely great wine list (and keep an eye out for special event Wine Dinners), including value priced House Wines during HH. Very decent burger and fries, small snacks and full sized plates abound at very good prices. Like its relative restaurant Table, Donkey & Stick, good food, good drinks and good times are sure to be had. read more

Outdoor dog friendly patio available during the warmer seasons. Monday's has happy hour all night, while wed-fri it is only 5-630. I highly recommend checking them out during the happy hour as their perfect martini was exceptional for the price, for someone who doesn't typically like martinis. Oysters during Happy hour only come out to 2 per piece. The burger is definitely at a much more agreeable price point for the quality if it is the same as the dinner. Although the side of fries that came with my burger was salt heavy so I found myself drinking a lot of water and literally shaking the fries to remove some extra granules off. Service is kind and polite. Monday was a bit busy and they were training a new server so the service was a bit slow. Hopefully they will be able to remedy it when more help gets situated. Overall I would come back to enjoy this place with my pup after walking on the 606 trail. Paid street parking, but also parking in the neighborhood if you don't mind driving around and walking. read more

Bar Parisette is great (and this is more 4.5 for me)! I hope it breaks the curse of the building it's located in (it often changes to another restaurant) because it deserves to be there long-term. Recently spent a Friday night at Parisette on a date night and obviously started with a drink called le petit prince, which was made with citadelle cornichon gin, pickle brine, and dry vermouth. It was good, but for me, I would've loved a bit more pickle because, admittedly, the drink was strong. Either way, it was a good patio cocktail on a warm night. We ordered a beet salad, pommes frites, a half-dozen East Coast oysters, fish nuggets, and steak frites to share. Everything was excellent! Surprisingly, a standout was the fries, which were crispy and seasoned well. The oysters were some of the best I've had, served on ice with lemon and vinegar. Super flavorful! The peppercorn sauce on the steak was really flavorful, but the biggest winner of the night for me was the fish nuggets, which were crunchy and light on the outside and juicy on the inside. I don't even really love fish like that, but I would eat these nuggets every day. Lastly, for dessert, we ordered a giant macaron and some gelato, both of which were sweet, full-bodied, and worth ordering!! Stay for dessert folks, and thank me later. :) read more

Had a lovely drink and a snack at the charming Bar Parisette in Logan Square with one of my daughters ahead of a dinner we knew would be much later. She and I shared two delicious appetizers, cheese bread, served with honey butter, and the eggplant, featuring an apricot glaze, Shiso, almond and chili oil, washed down with pilsners. We did the olives (they come warm‍) oysters, and a burger. Everything was standout. The oysters were pretty and delicate and sweet and briny. The aioli that came with the burger was delicious and special. We thought maybe the burger was cooked in or had bacon in it but apparently it was the smoked onion. My Mom and I stopped at Bar Parisette around 12 PM on a Sunday during their brunch hours. Only a couple of tables and seats at the bar were filled, so we were seated right away without a reservation. We both got the veggie burger with well done fries. This is the best veggie burger in the city! The homemade patty has incredible taste and texture only made better by the high quality toppings and fresh bun. Our meals were served piping hot and perfectly executed. Yum! The ambiance at Bar Parisette is beautiful- the dining room is spacious and well decorated. Our server was a bit slow to check in with us, but still friendly and attentive once they stopped by. Went to happy hour (5-6:30) at this adorable bistro. We loved the decor, the chill vibe and playlist (not too loud - thank you!). Charlie, our barkeep,was the nicest, coolest person I have met tending bar in chicago (she hails from LA and NYC and is very cool) She was super attentive, kind, interesting - and makes a fantastic cocktail. We hosted our company holiday party at Bar Parisette, and it was hands-down the best event we've had to date. From start to finish, the entire team was incredibly accommodating, attentive, and genuinely invested in making the night special. John, Matt, and Madalyn took fantastic care of us all evening, and the staff as a whole went above and beyond, even extending our event by an extra hour when it was clear everyone was having such a great time. We dined at Bar Parisette tonight. Service was excellent. The round leather booths are elegant and comfortable. Ask for one when you make your reservation. Chef Madalyn Durrant ran food to tables, which was nice because it provided the opportunity to compliment her on our favorite dishes. We ordered everything on the menu, except the chicken liver, the tartare, the lamb, and the burger. While everything was good and competently executed, the best items, which are truly exceptional, are: 1) Carrot Salad (honey, coriander, honey, Moroccan olive) 2) Sunchokes and wax bean salad with pollen 3) Halibut en Papillote with root vegetables 4) Roasted Chicken with carrot caramel 5) Soft Serve Ice Cream (salted vanilla/blueberry lavender twist) I liked the spaciousness of the restaurant, and there are some beautiful and fun design elements, like whimsical wallpaper, sparkly gold epoxy floors in the washroom, beautiful light fixtures, and those beautiful round leather booths. Outstanding brunch at Bar Parisette! The croque mademoiselle was wonderful and the potatoes were perfect. We'd would recommend!

I hesitate to review Bar Parisette for fear I may never get to eat there again. But this place is so charming. The bar is a beautiful mix of arts and crafts tile and contemporary paper. The dining room is cozy and comforting. The food is an interesting mix of traditional (burgers) and innovative. Try the cabbage, the fish nuggets and my favorite, the veggie burger. The drinks are creative and delicious. Notice especially the wine list. The choices are varied and the prices, well, Bar Parisette does not gouge. The idea is that this is a local place where you can dine on good food and drink without breaking the bank. And there is outside seating when the weather allows. We had an incredible meal, navigated by our lovely server Ciera. Get there early for HH menu, started off with $2 oysters and a glass of cava. From there we snagged the whitefish rillettes and sunflowers to start (sunflower was an unexpected surprise fav - fresh, crunchy and a bit hearty). We finished with the Halibut which has such great curry style flavors basking in the parchment pocket it came in and the Agnolotti. Both dishes paired perfectly together. I came here with a friend for happy hour on a Monday. When I walked in it was 5pm and there were only a few people in there. The happy hour goes all night on Mondays. Within 30 minutes it was packed and a good vibe. Ordered the Rosé it was delicious but was not the normal pink color so we had to ask if it was the right drink - should have been something that is stated since it wasn't the typical color. Also ordered the smoked olives and burger and I would come back just for this! It was so good! It took a little longer than expected to come out. The chicken liver mousse was fantastic, we loved the pappardelle, as we were walking out the door we were talking about coming back again. Swung by for a second trip to Bar Parisette and felt compelled to share our fabulous experience. The staff was so lovely and warmly accommodated our idiosyncratic ordering (black and blue steak for typically incompatible steak orderers, mini soft serve taster portions so we could sample more of the dessert offerings). Everything tasted fabulous, executing traditional French favorites alongside modern novelties like fried maitakes and luscious tomato tartines. The wine list was exquisite, we got four glasses to try more than the usual bottle we split, and were delighted by every permutation from Loire to Willamette. I know these guys got slammed by some recent raves by the Hungry Hound and elsewhere, but we were lavished with superb service, and charmed by the quaint atmosphere which feels both inviting and sexy. I'm actually mad that I waited so long to come here. We went for Friday happy hour- or as they call it, Happ-èro - and it was a delight. We started off with a couple of oysters, and the vinegar they served with it was super yummy, and the oysters tasted very fresh. Our bartender, Stace, made the best daiquiri I've literally ever had, and was very helpful and kind while helping us decide on wine as well. Then we split the cheeseburger maison frites, and I was just in shock while eating it. It had this smoked onion mayo on it. It gave the entire burger such a delicious flavor. It literally inspired me to try smoking onions to try to accomplish it. The fries were a little on the greasy side, but super crispy and honestly exactly what I wanted. They cut the burger for us which was super helpful because it would have been hard to do ourselves- presentation was perfect.
