The food is consistently delicious, and I appreciate having a local place to catch up with friends. The place has really cool old farm tools on the wall, which makes it seem like you've stepped back in time a little. The cheeseburgers are a favorite of mine, but I've also enjoyed newer menu offerings like blueberry pancakes and cheese curds. There are several fantastic servers. Kim in particular always goes above and beyond. It's a great home town experience and I enjoy coming to eat here often. read more

I love this place! It's the only restaurant in town and the entire town has a piece of the pie, literally! We were in town and being hosted by some wonderful friends and took them to dinner. The last time we were here they were closed and I was dying to try it. The food is outstanding as is the service! The fajitas are different and more of a ground beef but just outstanding. I can't say enough about the guac and the fries were perfectly cooked. The ambiance is bright yet quant and a bit of a country feel. The drink pours were generous and the prices are a steal. I'm still craving the guac and fajitas! We can't wait to come back. read more

My husband and I have been stopping at this place for a few years. It seems to have undergone a change in management/menu. It's now a Mexican restaurant "La Granja". We had seriously good carnitas tacos and a very good carnitas torta. The torta roll was just right in texture and flavor. And the carnitas were delicious. Tender and not fatty, with some crispy bits. The regular hot sauce they serve was plenty for me. The "hot" hot sauce is not for the faint of heart. If you're on that stretch of US 36 that is pretty desolate, this is a food oasis. Had lunch on a Saturday. The menu is narrow during the China Virus pandemic. The Cheeseburger Deluxe was good. I'm not a germaphobe, but the social distancing of booths and tables was very good. There could have been 3-times the number of people dining and the large dining area would have easily accommodated a busier lunch. The waitress was wearing a mask. Stopped in on our way to Denver. This place is such a beautiful place, didn't expect it to be this nice, since it's in the middle of nowhere. The waitress was really nice. My friends had the grilled chicken sandwich and they truly loved it. I had the burger that's pictured here, I also loved it. Found this place travelling home from vacation. Was very clean. Food was very good. Would recommend it to anyone traveling through the area.

What great oasis of food! If you want great food, friendly service this is it. Went for dinner and found steak and potato and it was very juicy and a good rub that needed no other enhancements. The menu was not large but it should satisfy a broad array of tastes. Several beers on tap and had the sam adams. The bartender's were serving up many mixed cocktails too. This is a gem of good employees and food that I hope they don't fade away like many I saw shuttered in these small towns. read more

I've been eating here for years now, and never have had a bad meal. That being said the food for last 6 months has been above and beyond exceptional! The steaks are always done perfect and full of flavor! The salad is always fresh and nothing EVER lacks flavor!! I'm always on the road and this is my favorite restaurant in Colorado. Found this place driving in on RT36 from Kansas. It was open so we stopped for lunch. Well if you don't mind a few flies. French dip was thick cut meat, bun was good not one of the best i've ever had. I don't know about anything later but I would pass on this place unless you really need to stop. The Grainery is a large restaurant on your way from Colorado along Highway 36. It is a large and comfortable dining area that can serve many people. We were a party went over 15 people. The waitress was very friendly and waited on us quickly. The biggest problem was there was only a couple of people in the restaurant when we got there. The place was filled up after we had ordered. It look like to me, that all the locals were being served their food first even though they ordered after us. The food was good it just took a long time to get. read more

Driving down highway 36 from Denver to Nebraska and found this little gem. I had been through Idalia in July of '12 and at that time it was being built. The man at the convenience store said the people of the town were donating time to help build the restaurant to help the town have a meeting place and help the community. I think he said the land belonged to the school district, I am not 100% sure on that but swear that was said. The sign at the entrance saying no smoking on school property makes me think it's true. Anyway, once inside you could swear this is a restaurant located in any major city not middle of nowhere Colorado. I had the Blue cheese burger and was very happy, the pepper fries are good. I really wish I could go back at dinner to try one of the steaks on the menu. One of the sizes listed was Grainery size, I didn't ask how large that is but it sounded intriguing. If for some reason you are going through eastern Colorado on Hwy 36 stop at The Grainery and bring your appetite. read more

This restaurant is in the middle of nowhere in a town that is very small. There was one rate was working the whole restaurant and she was busy even though we were there after One in the afternoon. We thought she did a very good job and she was friendly. I husband had a steak sandwich similar to a Philly cheese steak. He thought the steak was well cooked and flavorful. I had the cuban sandwich. It was unlike any other Cuban sandwich I have had. They used barbecue pulled pork as one of the pork meat. It wasn't bad, but if I were ordering again, I would've had the pulled pork sandwich. This is a little gem on Hwy 36! Worth traveling to from surrounding communities. It is in a nice new building and they have great service. Food is reasonably priced and the steaks were great!! I have a friend who had her wedding banquet there and it was absolutely lovely. You wouldn't expect such a fine establishment in such a little town. It could compete with anything you find in the city. Service is fast friendly, and they have a nice screened in patio for summer time. Lovely bar area and great place to watch sports. I really enjoyed my visits here while passing through town and will definitely make it a usual stop for me. read more

We live about 34 miles NorthEast of Idalia's "The Grainery Bar & Grill" and so pass through now and then on our way to Denver. Have stopped and eaten 4 or 5 times since they opened over a year ago and still have not had a good meal I could tell anyone about. I still remember the Mexican food I tried which was mostly ALL BLACK BEANS! The next time I tried their hamburger which was overdone and dried out with a cold bun. Asked for mayo which they did not have. The other meals are not worth the mention - have tried to forget them. Not sure I will give them anymore chances - the manager is rude - no PR whatsoever. NOW they have raised their prices even more - same lunch menu is $1.25 - $3.00 higher for the same food at dinner time (night meal). Forget this place!! Haven't heard good even from our friends. read more

Food was pretty good but service absolutely sucks. Our waiter walked by us three times while we were waiting for the bill with a screaming 15 month old baby and he never once checked on us. The manager can't wait tables either so no wonder service sucks. When we finally got our bill he set it down and walked away it took another ten minutes just to get them to come back. And while we were leaving another server asked us if we needed our drinks refilled. What a joke and an absolute disgrace to the wonderful Idalia community. I would be ashamed to have that kind of place associated with the community. read more
