This year we got the usual great lineup but instead of the DIY style show in a parking lot, Professor Vic moved it to the Cathedral. Located right off Garey, The Cathedral is tough to miss. There's plenty of street parking on Center St and there's also a small parking lot across the street. This used to be a YMCA but it looks like an old church with dark wood flooring, high ceilings and stained glass windows. A very cool venue. How did it sound? Loud. Extremely loud. They also had a huge video board which gave each band a little extra hot sauce. There were a couple of bars in the back and you could also order food. It's air conditioned in there but between the heat (100+ outside at the time) and the amount of bodies inside, it was at least bearable. Mosh for Youth was great as always and while I loved the DIY ethos in the past this felt like a leap forward. The sound, look and venue made this feel big time. I hope future MFY shows take place here...until they maybe outgrow this place too, which would mean more scholarships for the kids. Highly recommended!

The Haven is a 125 capacity space with brick walls and wood laminate floors. It's a pretty cool picture when you walk in. The Haven used to host all sorts of music but in recent times they've dialed back on hosting hardcore punk shows because people can't control themselves. But if you're interested in all sorts of alternative bands there's still something here for you. Absolutely no alcohol on premises but you can get water. Security is pretty cool and aren't afraid to kick folks out for acting a fool. Parking is anywhere you'd park if you were going to the Fox or Glass House. The Haven is an awesome venue and I hope they start to host hardcore punk shows more often but I don't blame for putting down a pause. That said the sound is real good and it's an awesome place to see your favorites up close. Check their IG for upcoming events if this sounds like your vibe. Highly recommended!

Recommend reserving a spot online to be guaranteed a table spot and that set aside seating for your party. You can't bring outside food or drinks but you can bring a cake and party decorations. Plenty of parking spaces, it opens at 7pm so it feels early when it's still light out. They play a lot of oldies, 80s and 90s songs. I kind of felt out of place not knowing a lot of the older songs. Younger folks might have a tough time following along the songs. If you want your song played it's like a $20 payment unless no one is there and you might get away with under $20. That accept cash and Venmo. They have a full bar for drink orders and a menu for bar food like pizza, burgers, and fries. Don't have high expectations for the food. You're here for the piano music. You can put in special requests at the beginning of the night to highlight someone's birthday and they might get called up on stage. Or pay $100 and get to sing your song on stage. Overall it's a try once of your life experience or if you like every song in piano format.

The bartenders were really cool and made those drinks to inevitably elevate our experience which was worth it due to those low prices! The only con is how intense their security is, which I get is for safety because they shouldn't play around at bars like this however, they were very intense and did not make the place feel welcoming.

But if you're trying to play pool, forget it--unless you get there early, you'll be waiting forever. The DJ on Fridays really doesn't play the best music, and they don't take song requests, which kind of kills the vibe. The drinks weren't great either--honestly, I'd stick to shots. Everything we tried was way too sweet, and the Mexican candy shot was a joke. Maybe it was just the night we went, but it wasn't it. It's a local spot in Rancho, so I'll give it that, but I'd honestly rather go to Spectators Sports Bar or just head out to Riverside instead. The crowd can get pretty trashy, in my opinion. One upside though--the food vendors outside are actually really good. And Saturdays can get wild... like really wild. The last time we went, it got so crazy the police ended up shutting it down.
