The tout was perfectly prepared with a moist flakey texture and a nice crispy skin. The slaw was a refreshing take that let the flavors of the veggies shine and didn't drown it in sauce. Don't let the name fool you, The Grandview Tavern has evolved far beyond a neighborhood pub. It has transformed into an elevated Southern restaurant that absolutely deserves to be on your date night list. My wife and I stopped in for lunch, and it was honestly one of the best lunches we've had in a long time. We started with the gumbo, which is served with potato salad. It was unique, incredibly flavorful, and quite possibly the best gumbo I've had outside of New Orleans. For our entrées, my wife had the fried rainbow trout, and I had the fried chicken sandwich. Both were outstanding, perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and a noticeable step above typical Southern comfort food. We couldn't leave without dessert, and the peach cobbler with its cornbread crust was phenomenal. It was the perfect ending to the meal. I also enjoyed a Pimm's Cup, which was incredibly refreshing on a hot afternoon out on the patio. I've spent a lot of time in New Orleans, and this meal absolutely scratched that itch while still bringing its own elevated, creative touch. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. If you're craving elevated Southern cuisine, don't overlook Grandview Tavern. My husband and went here on a Wednesday night for his birthday a few weeks back and we were very happy! The gumbo & potato salad was delicious and I'm definitely planning on going back for more soon. The fried trout was so reminiscent of classic good fried catfish from back in Louisiana. My husband enjoyed his sazerac and the live music was such a great vibe. I am sitting in the Grandview Tavern right now, belly full of fried trout, summer squash, and a tomato-cucumber side dish. Oh! And cornbread with honey-butter. This may be the best meal I've ever had in Colorado. I'm with two friends, and the three of us practically licked out plates. The portions were perfect, the vegetables fresh, and the cornbread perfectly fluffy and hot. We all got different sides, and they ordered the beef tips. All three of us ate everything on our plates and in our bowls. If you want the best comfort food, eat here. The ambiance is delightful, and the person who served us was friendly and warm. Bowl of these, a good friend and a beer would make a lazy afternoon epic Summer Melon Salad - hell yea. Watermelon, cantaloupe, shallots and crushed peanuts tossed in a perfectly sharp vinegrette. Kid you not, I would return JUST for the salad. Pimento Cheese with ham- classic, perfect then add deep fried saltines and some of THE BEST pickles I have had - green bean and sweet cucumber. After Wednesday's food section review, my husband and I knew we had to try the Grandview Tavern. Wow!!! It did not disappoint, everything was so delicious. We each had a cup of the gumbo, fresh and delicious. The hush puppies were the best we've had in years and years and the cornbread is out of this world, accented by honey butter not sure if I've EVER had better. The restaurant has a new ownership group and a new menu concept. Right out of the gates I had a great experience in week one. A couple stand outs were the pimento cheese platter with kicked up salty crackers and the Gumbo (I'll be back for that again and again) Brianna, is a great bartender and server. New Owners and Chef make a solid landing! If someone had suggested we go to the Grandview 6 months ago I'd honestly be like meh hard pass. We walked in on a whim and it is completely new spot. The vibe is amazing, the staff incredible, and the food is so quietly top tier. Tim was bartending and served some amazing cocktails, beer list is solid. Now let's talk jalapeño poppers.....my god. Chef Jeremy is proving the old tales wrong that southern food isn't refined, always is heavy, and is all fried. All the ingredients are sourced from local spots which inherently is the heart of good southern cooking, just true to form love of ingredients. This is the most authentic gumbo I've had outside of New Orleans (probably not even excepting my own kitchen)! The atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious. Wife and I stopped here after strolling around Old Town Arvada. What a cute and pleasant place! Very old fashioned looking bar and booths. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. I had bbq wings and my wife had a club sandwich. The sandwich looked really good and was on a ciabatta roll. It was all for a really reasonable price. Cool little spot in downtown Arvada. We stopped in with a group of 5 looking for some dinner after an event. So the food we ordered was great. We all opted for the Australian pies and every single one was great- they come from a place in Fort Collins. l called the Waltzing Kangaroo. The pickle fries were delicious. I dropped the star rating for service and the prices. My friend spent $10 for a little cup of fries! It just seemed like everything was a little pricey for a bar. The service was excruciatingly slow. We had to flag down our waiter to order, and then to get the drinks we ordered when they never came, then our food came out at all different times, and lastly had to flag down someone for a check. Dive bar: I thought could have decent food but it was disgusting. First we waited an hour before our food came out with a raw meat burger and so bad we had to send the food back and decided to go elsewhere for fears of sanitary and health code practices. This place is a food borne pathogens illness outbreak waiting to happen. Then they had the nerve to charge us $40 for a couple of sub par appetizers. It kinda doesn't matter how good the food is if the service isn't good. Our waitress was very nice. I don't think the incredibly slow service we experienced was her fault. So we tipped her well. We assume that they just didn't have enough staff on duty for a Friday night. First, a basket of French fries cost $11.50. The menu price was $12.45. Maybe I got a discount cuz I asked the waiter if that was a typo. Just plain old French fries, maybe 2 cups in size. It's a bar not a fancy restaurant! Second, my Australian meat pie was undercooked. The bottom crust was stretchy, raw dough. There are lots of other bars and restaurants around so just keep walking past this one. read more
