The schoolhouse sits inside a historic building in a converted schoolhouse that remains true to that theme. We had a very nice lunch with a great Reuben sandwich and hot, crispy, tasty fries. Very good attentive service and a most impressive bar with 1000s of spirits available. There is an exceptional selection of craft (local) beers on tap to start. All of the spirits are shelved on the back of the bar from floor to ceiling. The bar itself is really cool, with #2 pencils (remember those) under an acrylic top. Even if you sit elsewhere the bar is well worth a visit as are the restrooms. Service was top notch. Recommend School House Kitchen for a casual meal in a really cool building. read more

I came here for lunch because I was looking a decent French Dip sandwich. This place is awesome for happy hour and drinks on any occasion. The bar area is very cool! The food is still hit or miss. I asked for onion rings, but they don't serve them here. When my sandwich arrived, it had good presentation. I asked for some horseradish, and she stated it's on there. What? Please don't assume I want horseradish with every bite. The sandwich wasn't bad and the fries were good. I wish they would stick with tradition though. On the side with the Ajus. We had a great birthday brunch here! I love the ambiance and the creativity of the menu, as well as reading about the history of the building. We came with two elderly relatives, so dining out can be a challenge sometimes with accessibility. The restaurant was easy for them to navigate and not too loud. Must try the monte cristo! It was my first time having the sweet sandwich and I was very impressed with the crunch of the waffle batter. I also really enjoyed the school theme, including old classroom chairs. My aunt and grandmother came along, and both enjoyed the grilled cheese and tomato soup quite a lot. What a great place to grab a beer! My only experience at this restaurant was a few to several years ago when my friend and I dined here for Sunday brunch (or something like that.) Back then, I really wasn't paying attention as to what they offered. Today, when we stopped here for a quick drink, I realized that their drink menu is/was quite massive especially for beers (tap and cans.) I didn't have any (alcoholic) drink (as I am/was temporarily abstaining from it), my BF, however, had a pint of Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing IPA which I took a super tiny sip of. Whereas I may not be an IPA expert (I can only consume certain IPAs with lower IBUs only), this IPA's haziness was just right where it canceled out the typical IBU level many IPAs have. It truly tasted pleasant to me which shocked me. He later went for a second one and this time, it was a canned Montucky Cold Snaps. I also took a tiny sip out of it and unfortunately, I didn't care for this one as it had a good amount of sweetness which might be coming from one of the ingredients: corn. The (first) Hazy IPA was much more superb in a way that although its bitterness is a lot higher than Montucky, it (Hazy IPA) is/was (overall) much more superior beer than in quality than Montucky. There are other interesting beers (on tap) based on the menu we looked. Once I am out of my abstinence, I would love to come back here for a nice pint of something good. I think I set my eye on "Great Divide Love & Lemon; this sounds very interesting! We were sat at one of the comfortable chairs upstairs where there is its own bar. Ok, my daughter's boyfriend lives in Arvada and knows I like unique bourbon - he said "You need to go to School House in Arvada". We had time so went and met them there. BANG AMAZING. Troy helped us out the whole night. The food, service and holy crap the drinks / whiskey was just awesome. I gather it is the 3rd largest Whiskey bar after the Stanley Hotel (the Shining - in Estes Park) and Finn's Manor in Denver. Frankly it has to be. The whiskey selection was over the top. They had most of the unicorns including Russell's 15 and Michter 10 (and Pappy's etc). And the cost of the pours was definitely reasonable. Great selection of food too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Popped in here while exploring Arvada and loved it! the theme being a school was very creative. We sat in their bar section so we were seated right away is it is open seating in that specific section. We ordered their fried pickles, buffalo sandwich and BALT. We were absolutely obsessed with their friend pickles! They come in the shape of a fry and the dipping sauce was insanely good we asked for another one for our main course. The buffalo chicken sandwich was pretty good- came with a lot of blue cheese so if you don't like blue cheese make sure you mention it. However the BALT was very bland with little taste. Love the decor. Seating looks like school desks and the menus are a take on "pee-chee" folders. I know many people won't know what those are. I remember them, so perhaps I am just old! I had lunch at the schoolhouse Kitchen this week for the first time. Old Town Arvada seemed kind of dead & gloomy with closed shops and nearly no people out & about. Two friends joined me and all of us ordered the tomato basil soup which was thick & tasty and just a notch below hot / disappointing! The salad one person ordered was very good and huge even though she got half size. Two of us got Pats Turkey sandwich which was good and had tons of turkey. It came with a cranberry spread which was a very small amount. When I ate the other half of my sandwich for supper there was no cranberry sauce at all. This is one big reason I ordered this sandwich so I was disappointed it was missing. Sometimes I think the kitchen gets busy and forgets that every bite a customer eats is an opportunity to make it special and delicious and a show off your very best effort. A little smear on one side of a sandwich does not make Pats Turkey Sandwich shine Our server, Charlie, was great giving us time to check things out and not rushing us. A fun bar area!! Such cute and fun decorations. The dining area is also nice! Parking is tricky as there's no dedicated lot. The apple chicken salad is a must, along with the sweet potato tots!! Food was absolutely delicious! Didn't get a picture of the bacon wrapped dates, because we gobbled them down so quickly. Generally I do not like dates ( texture thing for me), but I figured I'd give them a go since hubby wanted some. I would've gotten a second batch but I wanted to make sure I had my dinner. We golf at Indian Tree and someone told us to check out Old Town Arvada. A Sunday night after golf we stopped by for light supper. We were excited to know about Old Town as we are golfing nearby often. This is the first restaurant we chose as we wanted something light and their menu seemed to offer a lot of gluten free and vegetarian options. My husband ordered the Greek salad with salmon and I ordered the Salmon Sandwich. I also ordered a cocktail, the Bus Stop Boulevardier. We were greeted very quickly and recieved our food at a fair amount of time! Food -- Meatloaf 3.8/5 -- The mashed potatoes were seasoned well! I didn't really enjoy the apricot ketchup on it as much. Salad w/ Shrimp 4.8/5 -- the salad was a great size and so were the shrimp! The only thing is that the croutons were a bit salty but it pair well with the salad! Showed up at this restaurant along with our daughter while visiting from Florida. It was noon and not too crowded. Our waitress, Ana brought us waters, and explained a few items on the menu and we ordered contingent on one item being gluten free and Ana came back and said it was. My wife and I shared a Ruben sandwich with fries and it was ample enough for us to share. Out daughter chose the fried salad with balsamic and chicken on the salad. It came on a tray and it was an interesting service, and she thought it tasted good. Our sandwich was a bit crispy grilled and the fries were just ok. Something has changed... And I love it! The food has improved. Plates and ingredients seem purposeful and in harmony. (BRISKET TACOS = YUM!)
