I ordered the Pad See Iew with beef, which I would say was slightly above average in quality, but without much too noteworthy to mention. 12.45 GBP was a fair price for this dish. The interior is a bit small, but it was still a very comfortable seating arrangement. I had no issues finding a table for weekend dinner. The staff are friendly and the service speed is pretty quick. It feels like you're in a small shop in Thailand when you're in there. Overall, while the food was not 5 star quality, it was good enough to earn 4 stars from me and probably warrant a visit if you are interested in Thai food in the Fitzrovia area. read more

Nice people and clean place. I think the address is wrong, or they have 2 restaurants. The slow cooked beef was okay, but half the meat serving was fat. The sauce was okay and did help the rice. Great Thai Restaurant serves all the standard dishes you love at Thai restaurants and executes them well. They don't hold back on the spice when you ask for it, either. Spicy actually means spicy, and not in a black pepper kind of way. Get the sugar ready. The pad Thai and fries ríce dishes were good and hit the spot when we needed a late night option. The host/waitress is so friendly and accommodating. We ordered an order of Special Thai Fried Rice with medium spice and Pad Ke Mao, medium spice. Both selections were fantastic. Two glasses of Thai ice tea completed our meal. The restaurant is cute and clean. It was slightly off our path, but definitely worth the extra walk. I highly recommend The Great Thai. read more

Am I the first to review an awesome restaurant again!? I can't believe this. This is one of our favourite drop in places to grab Asian food. It's a really small corner located in Fitzrovia, not the most obvious spot but I promise you it's worth checking this place out. It's tiny but humble restaurant has a cosy and has this warm welcoming environment. It does live up its restaurant's name "The Great Thai", they serve pretty authentic Thai food here. Portions are generous, tastes delicious, decent price for the location, good and fast service. I love this place. You would pay an average around £10-£15 per pax (including drinks) depending on what you order. So usually, we (2pax) would order a 3 course meal and drinks which would include something of the below: 1. Tom Yum Soup (slightly spicy) - with prawns and mushrooms £6.95 - with chicken and mushrooms £5.95 - there's a vegetarian option 2. Pad Thai - with chicken £8-ish - vegetarian option available 3. Seabass fish - Garlic Seabass £12.95 deep fried (recommended) - Ginger & Soy £12.95 steamed 4. Thai iced tea £2.95 5. Side white rice £1.90? That would give you an average what you'll order. The portions for the pad Thai is pretty big. The meat here is fresh, especially the fish. Highly recommended for couples and threesome, if you have anything larger than that you might want to call them for reservations. They serve wines and alcoholic beverages too :) I wouldn't say it's the most kid friendly area, but it's a safe environment for toddlers read more

Best Larb Moo I have ever eaten outside Thailand hands down, let alone in London. You may have to ask for extra spiciness for that dish and mind you, it's really spicy (I always sweat buckets). Make sure you eat it with rice, either sticky rice or jasmine rice. Noodle soups are also pretty nice. I'm always going for boat noodles or spicy noodle soup (the light broth one). You will have to add some condiments e.g. vinegar / chilli to your own likings (That's just how Thai noodles soup are meant to be eaten). Unfortunately the noodles only come in one size (unlike in some place where you could order a flat noodles, for example), but that doesn't make it less good. I don't order other dishes too often since I like spicy & sour food more, but I'd go for other dishes like Basil leaves fried rice from time to time. From what I have seen, Garlic & Pepper Pork is also very authentic. The only thing I am not too fond of so far is Tom Yum soup (and its noodle soup variation). I always have to travel 40+ minutes to eat here, but it's worth it every time! read more

Omg came all the way from Canada to accidentally land in London's best hidden Thai gem - Delish. The veggie pad Thai is perfect, loaded with mixed veggies. The prawn red Curry was delish and cooked to perfection. Whenever I'll be in London next this place is my number one go to resto! read more

We couldn't decide what to order so we asked the waitress to help us decide on a couple of dishes. We shared the chicken with chilli and basil along with the garlic fish. Both were homestyle cooking at its best. We really enjoyed our meal. They also serve half bottles of wine which is a nice plus. The service was very good. Friendly but laid back. I found a maggot and hair in my food (please see photo). The customer service is horrible. We left completely disgusted / furious. When we sat down the waitress was already rude to begin with-- my boyfriend ordered a side of rice to go and she made a face when she realized he wasn't ordering a main dish with it. When I called her for help, she would look over the counter expecting us to shout over instead of coming over to answer our questions. I ordered the weeping tiger previously and found a long curly piece of hair in it so I sent it back hoping it was a special case. So I ordered the wonton soup... and found a maggot in it. I was really hoping it was just a spice so I looked carefully and looked up pictures of maggots just to confirm. When I told the waitress she said "you're just getting everything today huh?" In a snarky unapologetic tone. I was in disbelief. Then a different waitress came over and apologized, telling us she took the maggot wonton soup out of the bill and an extra 10% off the bill. Surprised they were still trying to charge us for the ONLY dish that we didn't have to send back, my boyfriend handed them his credit card. She then proceeded to tell us that credit card is not allowed for orders under 10 pounds. We had no cash on us so she insisted that we pay an extra charge for the credit card. That's when I just got up and said we're leaving. This is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. I didn't want to make a scene initially but it got to the point where they were so rude that I had to get angry for them to be apologetic. I was not about to pay for getting sick from their food. We just passed by here, it was super crowded, so we decided to eat here. I have been craving good Thai food since we got to London and this place does not disappoint. I ordered Thai Basil Fried Rice w,/ pork. The heat factor is measured in 1 or 2 peppers on the menu. I thought, okay the 2 peppers won't be really hot because every Thai restaurant I've eaten at has a heat scale of 1-5, 1-10, etc but 2 peppers scale was right up there with an 8 on the 10 scale. Meat was tender and actually the whole dish was very flavorful. If I get back to London I'll will definitely go there again. My sister ordered Shrimp Wonton soup, Butterfly Prawns and Fried rice which she did was very tasty. read more

Pad Thai is great and so are the pot stickers (goyozas?). The restaurant is not fancy. Your basic hole in the wall. I've lived in London for a year, and after several great experiences here, I chose this place to enjoy my last dinner in town before I go back to the USA. It's a very small restaurant, probably only seats 25 people max, but they have delicious food. Their Pad Thai is good, their cashew stir-fry is great, but their curries, in particular their Thai green curry, are outstanding. They're fragrant and flavorful, full of herbs and bell peppers and coconut milk, and just the right balance of savory and spicy and sweet, and also just the right consistency. Definitely try the curry on your first visit. I've also enjoyed their chicken satay and their Thai iced tea on occasion, and recommend them both as well. Service is friendly and prompt. They also deliver on UberEats and Deliveroo, at the time of this writing. Highly recommended. read more

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience here. I'm giving it a 2 star because the food came out reasonably fast and service was okay. The reason why I'm writing this bad review is because we found a long piece of white hair in our food and when I told the lady, she asked me "well where is it?" and then proceeded to tell me that next time I should let her know so she can give me a new dish, as if she didnt believe me. Would not recommend here for lunch, food is decent but overall not a great experience coming here. read more

Have visited this place twice already while here in London. Obviously, we liked it enough to return. Both times the food has been excellent. First time we went for the fried noodles. I had duck pad thai and my wife had pad kee mao with tofu. Both were state of the art. The noodles were done just right and of excellent quality. Sauces not too sweet, spicy or salty (mine a tamarind sauce--those can often be too sweet--and hers a spicy brown sauce but just enough heat to liven it up without burying the freshness of the vegetables). And the balance of noodles, meat, tofu, egg and other ingredients in both dishes was just right. Served piping hot. Reasonable for London at about £8@. The second time we visited we had totally different dishes, I, a dish listed as typical of northeastern Thailand, an area near the Golden Triangle of Laos, Burma and Thailand. This was a fried pork dish with a very savory chili pepper sauce served on the side. Excellent, but while listed as a salad, it was more like a nice serving of well seasoned and cooked meat cut in bite size pieces with some fresh lettuce on the side. I used some of the lettuce to wrap the pieces of meat. At £9,95 and with no rice or noodles it seemed a bit pricy. My wife had a dish, also billed as a salad, which consisted of Larb (ground pork, spiced and gently steam-fried (it seams) -- lovely texture, mingled with angel hair pasta-like noodles which are, however clear. I understand they are made of either beans or the root of some plant--can't remember which. Nice, they kind of slide down your throats when eaten alone but, mixed with meat, sautéed carrots, spiced (a little too much for my wife's taste) and served on a bed of lettuce, it makes for a tasty dish. We didn't think either dish was special enough for the price to order it again but we'll be back for the noodle dishes! A side note. No dishes come with rice so to make a full meal out of the salads or curries your meal will often come to £12 or more. We found portions adequate perhaps generous and will certainly return but, while the place is cozy and cute the chairs are not comfortable enough to make me want to linger. With prices moving into ££ territory I'll save my money to spend elsewhere rather than indulge in the more expensive fare here. read more
