Classic americana diner, absolutely delicious food, and wonderful service with a smile. Just what…read moreyou picture it would be in a small town diner in the morning, complete with a big group of regulars that are eager to get in when the place opens at 5:30 AM!! Had a classic breakfast with scrambled eggs bacon and toast, with a side of biscuits and gravy, can't say enough how good the food is!! I was there with my son, at 5:30 AM, to grab a bite to eat before his academic club competition. Can't wait to go back with the whole family!!

I saw several reviews obviously of locals this place but I assure you there is nothing to see here…read more I was pretty hungry too when I stopped in which lets you know just how below average the food was. I ordered the chicken fried steak with white gravy, fried okra, "Mac and cheese" and "cornbread" Let's start with what went well! I was greeted and sat rather quickly and my drink order was taken. The food came out super fast and now I know why! My country fried steak was a country fried steak, no more no less! My fried okra was fried okra previously frozen I'm sure. The "Mac and cheese" HAHAHA! Was Kraft and was ice cold( Literally ) Zero flavor, zero seasoning, they didn't even try to dress it up. My " Cornbread? Was a blob of tasteless cornmeal and flour that was so dry and tasteless that I took a bite and spit it in my napkin. NOPE!! Just NOPE... The ambiance was kind of like a middle school cafeteria, just there.

Note: there are two listings for "Echo Charlie's", one just adds "Bayside Restaurant". I've…read morereported to Yelp to merge the two. My review is the same for both. We were renting a cabin in the area and wanted a good lunch after checking out. We considered a quick trip over to Patti's, a place I've always found extremely over-rated, but since they were still in tent only dining while the restaurant is rebuilt we decided to heed advice from a friend who recommended this little place. I'm glad we did. I'm not sure what's with the mediocre reviews. Maybe we were just lucky or maybe they've improved as most reviews are older. But, we stopped in for lunch and were quickly seated, fairly quickly served, and everything we ate was great. The highlight of the meal was probably the appetizers--the crab cakes and sauce are really good but the "salt wing" take the cake. Season salt caked and grilled to perfection they were seriously among the top 5 wing orders I've ever had anywhere. The entrees were all good too, I really dug the catfish sandwich and sides. I didn't have room for dessert but one of our friends did and she liked the chocolate pie. Great views, good prices, friendly service. I'll be back when/if in the area again.

Service was terribly slow. Waitress was doing her job but food took one hour and it was 5:30 pm…read morewhen we entered and place was about 1/3 full. We quit going here last year for the same reason. There either is not enough cook space or cooks, I'm not sure which but we won't be going back.
