They serve some very good Austrian food here with generous portions as well. The schnitzel, goulash, roast pork, etc. all loon excellent. Wine selection is top notch and has many regional wines and stuff from elsewhere in Europe. This place seems to be very popular in the evenings and take reservations so book ahead of time. There's outdoor seating across the street and in front of the restaurant.

Amazing food, kind staff, and amazing crowd. We had the trout and roasted duck. They were so delicious including the side dishes that came with them. Trout comes with potatoes and a side salad. Duck comes with bread dumpling, red cabbage, and gravy. We paired the food with red wine they recommended. We even ordered blueberry fritters as a dessert. It was a nice wrap! There were a group of old men sitting next to our table. They occasionally sang and other folks in the restaurant were all welcoming as well. The ambience was great - it wasn't messy though it was busy. The staff members were all wearing Austrian traditional clothing, too. Every element of the restaurant makes it a cozy and warm place.

We have visited this restaurant twice. We were a little nervous that the magic of the first visit couldn't be replicated. However last night was as magical as the first visit a year ago. We will definitely return every time we return to Salzburg. Owner Franz Gensbichler is the ultimate party host. He orchestrates the staff and greets each guest with warmth and generosity. Everyone is his friend. Locals flock. As the Salzburg music festival concert ended, many tried to join the party at Triangel. A reservation is critical during the summer. Franz credits all his skills to his Oma (grandma). The inside decor is charming. Outdoor seating is plain and yet just lovely with a celebratory spirit. So refreshing to sit with friends, feel welcome as a guest, linger over a delicious meal and not feel rushed. And yet have great service. Chocolate soufflé: My husband said it was better than mine. I'm not even offended cause he was correct. Best dessert ever (if you're a chocolate fan).

We had our first Austrian meal here and were not disappointed. This restaurant has a very cozy interior and nice outdoor seating facing the university. Despite a busy lunch crowd, service was very attentive. We had the schnitzel and pork belly. Both were made perfectly, and gave us a great first impression of Salzburg. Highly recommend!

Our favorite restaurant in Salzburg. Local, organic, and fair trade, all at very reasonable prices. Reservations are highly recommended, service is great, atmosphere very enjoyable. Favorites were the Wienerschnitzel, goulash and chocolate soufflé cake for dessert. Nice selection of wines by the glass, including reasonably priced house white and red. Even family friendly. Oh, and smoke free dining. Definitely worth a visit!

The service was very good however the dish I ordered was too salty. Looking at the previous reviews I was so surprised with that.

Just ran into the place whilst strolling the old town area, it was late by Austrian standard; but Triangel was open marking the end of Opera Festival. It lasts a month or so long and has 260K visitors. In addition, the chanterelle mushroom Risotto, trout with roasted potatoes was great...the service is lovely and staff is vigilant and shows up on time.

This place was WONDERFUL after a long day of sight-seeing in Salzburg! It was busy at early evening on Saturday night but my parents and I were seated very quickly. The staff was pleasant and patient with us non-german speakers. Don't let the English menus scare you! The food was AMAZING! Between the three of us we enjoyed a schnitzel, local trout, and roasted duck. Everything was perfectly seasoned and served nice and warm! For dessert we got the Blueberry Datschi with vanilla ice cream. It was fabulous. I would recommend this restaurant to any of my friends looking for a nice place to enjoy a sit down meal in Salzburg.

Schnitzel was very good. Pork not beef.

There's actually more seating behind the bar if you go around. The menu is extensive from breakfast foods to decadent desserts! I came here mainly for the nockerl and it takes 30 minutes to prepare. I also ordered an americano and apple strudel. Our waitress, Alexandra, was very nice and attentive. She had to bring another table for the presentation! She also made sure I had time to photography the nockerl. It did not disappoint! It was fluffy and I love the berry cream and the ice cream that came with! It was just the perfect amount of sweetness and definitely worth a try! The apple strudel was bathed in vanilla cream (you can also get it with ice cream). It was flaky and warm. I love the cream it came in! Everything was fabulous! Many people came in to order desserts from the display! Thank you for a lovely breakfast. I enjoyed sitting there relaxing while enjoying the delicious foods!

Looks like most of the locals get cappuccinos, hard boiled eggs & some kind of bread with cold cuts & some veggies. I got the semilina porridge (Grieß-Porridge) which is equivalent to what Americans might call 'Cream of Wheat'. It came with fresh jam & was very tasty. I also ordered the Ham, cheese and salami with bread side (Schinken, Käse, Salami) and an iced latte. All were yummy. I wish I had more time to go back there to try some of their desserts.. they looked yummy!

We walked…read morepast Habakuk and caught a glimpse of the Strudel in the window, and all thoughts of bacon and eggs were out the window! We walked in and were very warmly greeted, and sat right across from the glass cases that showcased their wares. Given two menus in German, we figured it out pretty quick. They had a NY breakfast and one below that outlined eggs, ham, cheese and bread, bingo, two orders of those please and water. Our utensils and napkins were brought on a white plate along with salt and pepper, as well as a silver plate holding our waters, which was a great touch. The interior is very classy, old school elegance, and the servers were the same, nicely dressed very polite and helpful. Our food arrived quickly, hot and abundant, not exactly bacon and eggs, but very good. We were not asked how we wanted our eggs cooked,, so what you see is what you get. My eggs were a little overcooked for my taste, but the lovely K got some yolk run. There was a very good amount of food for the price and it all worked well together. We had the chance to chat with our server who spoke very good English, as it seems most of the people we have come across in our two weeks on the Continent do. We had to go back the next afternoon to try the Strudel of course. We were recognized right away, and the place was quite a bit busier so we walked up the stairs and were sat in the main dining area. The Strudel was quite delicious, and once again abundant and swimming in warm custard, which I wasn't sure of, but man it was good. Also added a Stiegel beer which is brewed right here in Salzburg for over 500 years. Cafe Habakuk is a bit of a throwback to simpler times when good service and great food, at fair prices was the norm rather than the exception and we couldn't be happier. Our next trip back to Salzburg we will most certainly be back!

Long story short, the apple strudel was DIVINE. The entire dessert just feels homey and hits all the right spots. The sandwich was really good too. The bread was quite buttery and crispy. The salad had thousand island dressing. So so good!

They offer lots of traditional vienna cafe fare and desserts. Service is quick, nice, and easy. We ordered the schnitzel and spaghetti bolognese. ( forgot to take picts for some reason - maybe bec we have been eating vienna food lately. But we also ordered the 2 most famous desserts in vienna. 1. The salzburger nockerl and the viennese apple strudel. The salzburger nockerl is not ny any means a dessert burger. Think of it as a soufflé. It has 3 mountain peaks, to pay homage to 3 famous peaks in salzburg. And of course, the famous apple strudel with vanilla sauce. Both are insanely out of this world., specially the strudel. The soufflé was one of the best ive ever tasted. full- bodied. Airy and soft. Silky smooth. And underneath, there some kind of cranberry compote to compliment the meal. The viennese apple strudel is simply heavenly. The best that you will ever taste in your life. Period. Layers and layers of sift pastry overlapping each other and holding together fresh apple slicesZ surround by a creamy vanilla sauce. Its heave on a plate, i tell ya! Why 4 stars? Hmmm..their schnitzel was a bit pricey for just 1 pc. Usually comes in 2 big pieces. The nockerl wqs a bit pricey too. Its for 2, but i think its still pricey. And since portions are smaller for main courses, it doesnt represent money for value. I wont repeat here as there are many other places to explore. Food standards are high in vienna, You pretty much will get the same Fare else where. Cheers! Happy eating!
