The pita bread was cold and dry cardboard. Awful. The grape leaves (6 to an order) were new to me. Never had them before so I did not know what to expect. Rice wrapped in leaves. They were acrid. I guess it's an acquired taste? IDK I could not finish the 2nd one. I do not recommend. Table sitting area was nice and clean and ample. Do yourself a favor if you eat here, DO NOT order the shrimp. Passing through Santa Maria and was hungry and thinking about Mediterranean food. Not far off Highway 101 on Main St is The Green Olive. Dining area with seating inside a nice liquor store. The food is fabulous! Good portion and friendly service. I had a combo plate with chicken, shrimp, and ground beef kabobs. It included a nice salad, rice, hummus and pita bread. Walk into the liquor store towards the right side at the back tucked away is a nice, clean, quiet and authentic Mediterranean restaurant. They have delicious dishes, such as barbecue, shrimp, chicken, beef, hummus, veggie platter, and all sorts of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food fair. The food is fresh and it is made for you on the spot. Everything is seasoned perfectly well, not too much, just enough. Portions are sufficient. Service is friendly and prompt. We LOVE the Green Olive in Shell Beach and I was under the impression that this was the same chain as the logo looks the same. In fact, I was the first to review that location when it opened & recommended it to all my friends. I don't know if it is but make no mistake, the food quality and taste is not comparable. We ordered a shrimp combo and steak combo as well as baba ganush. The salad was slathered in a thick paste with an overwhelming taste of raw garlic. Even after we attempted to remove it, we had to toss the salad because it was so strong. The rice was bland. Steak was gristly. There was no delicious garlic sauce that that I so look forward to when getting Mediterranean at the other location. The green sauce they gave us (4x) was also overwhelmingly garlicky and inedible. We threw away most of our $60 dinner. Huge huge disappointment. I called the business but their mailbox is full and cannot accept messages. read more

So, the place was nice (it's in the back of a liquor store). I got the mixed grill, and the meat tasted like it was under cooked (Especially the kofta) I thought the Kofta was going to be lamb, but it was ground beef, and it had an undercooked taste. I absolutely love this restaurant. I've only ever ordered takeout and delivery and it has been phenomenal every time. If you have a real Mediterranean food, this place is for you. I am Greek and have struggle to find any good Greek food or Mediterranean style food in the area. This place hits the spot. The baklava wasn't nice, and the Filo dough was crispy. Many times Mediterranean restaurants make their honey syrup, so watery that it makes the Filo dough soggy. Not here. The grape leaves, are actually wonderful for them not being the traditional meat and rice ones. The stuffing it tasted fresh and lemony. The rice inside was not much you're over cooked. They were full flavor, and I really enjoyed them. I got the Gyro Surpreme and it comes with a large side and two small sides. In the picture attached to this review, the large side for me was a salad, and the two smaller sides were hummus and rice. Being as I got this delivered, they put that Gyro meat and the falafel in a separate container, which was fabulous. It also comes with pita bread. Everything I have there was fresh, delicious, and the meat was extremely flavorful. Tried this a second time and giving a 4 but i'd say it's a 3.5 overall. The positives are that you get a lot of food for the money. You'll be full and might have leftovers so they're not stingy. I got the salmon kebab platter and was pleasantly surprised that the protein was cooked perfectly. The vegetables were cooked well and the kebabs, as a whole, were tasty. The rice was just ok but nothing wrong with it. The salad was a sidenote but the Pita, the pita was probably the worst I've ever seen and tasted. Flat as a tortilla and terrible texture. Pita bread is a core in this food as you usually use it to eat it alongside everything else. I was highly disappointed at how bland, flat and bad it was. The hummus was also a bit thicker than i'm used to but the flavor was good. I think this was probably the last time i will be visiting here as both times have had something big go bad. Price isn't bad as you do get a lot of food, the place looks fine as well but just very inconsistent. read more

Blown away by quality. I remember ordering a plate that had salad and a wrap. It's a portions were generous and it seems to me that whoever's cooking our owns the restaurant knows their stuff. Their garlic sauce is to die for. The wrap is also to die for with an interesting assortment of textures and flavor... And the meat was not overcooked. I can't tell you how many times a restaurant doesn't get a perfect score for me because they overdo it on the meat but my beef was cooked perfectly. Their Boston cream pie cake is also one of the most delicious cakes I've ever tasted and is a must try if you visit this establishment on the quaint street of Main Street. The frosting on that cake is 100 times better than what you have at the grocery store. The filling? Rich! The cake? Smooth, a little velvety, and not crumbly. Omg!! We will be back! read more

The staff were really friendly and it was easy to order our food right at the counter. I opted for the chicken kebab wrap and it was sooo good! I love the pepperoncini served on the side. You can choose between a side of potatoes or salad, which I opted for the salad but would love to try the potatoes at some point.
