My Philly steak sandwich on a ciabatta roll was chock full of well seasoned roast beef, onions, red bell peppers & melted cheese & came with a kosher pickle spear and a generous serving of kettle cooked potato chips. We shared an order of giant crispy onion rings with a side of ranch dressing for dipping, My hubby had a yummy chicken wrap which he devoured & washed it down with a local beer on draft. Stopped for gas in Santa Maria and decided to find something nearby. The Roost really fit the bill! I ordered their hot pastrami sandwich and it really hit the spot.... pastrami was flavorful and not fatty, bread was toasted nicely and the sauarkraut was the perfect compliment to the sandwich. Employees were welcoming and helpful describing the options. The indoor seating area is nice, but it was so nice outside that I chose to dine on the patio. I ordered a turkey club, which upon presentation I was not sure if I was supposed to take it home and make it a centerpiece or eat it: It was that damn good looking of a sandwich. Food: It was my first visit here and I went with the turkey club. Not only was the construction executed flawlessly, but it was one of the best I have ever had. This is a top #3 ever for me! #1 was in Maui, #2 was at a since shuttered place in Lincolnwood, Illinois (Jacks) putting this one at a solid #3! It was a massive portion and I could only finish 1/2 of it, leaving the other to enjoy for breakfast the next day. Service: Three different folks here checked on me and asked how the food was. Mind you this is not a full service restaurant, but every employee seems focused and truly set on making sure customers are happy. Randomly walked in here the other day and we were glad we did. The staff was extremely friendly when we walked in and greeted us immediately, along with the chef/cook in the back asking us if we needed help with the menu. Ordering was as easy as it gets, place, very clean and tidy. We went with the Turkey Club, Philly cheesesteak (which i never order,wild hair) and a side of fries. Turkey club was MASSIVE, packed with flavor and my finance got through Half before tapping out (low key my favorite part, i get the leftovers) The Philly cheesesteak (which i mentioned, i never order) was smaller than i expected. Ate with my eyes first and was disappointed ......until......i had a bite. It was fuckin amazing, perfectly seasoned and the cheese was just enough for it to compliment the meat. Mid meal we had the chef/owner come up to the table to see how we were doing. Really good to feel welcome in a restaurant we were new to, even tho we're born and raised here it felt nice to be welcomed and to FEEL welcomed. Now, imma fry guy. A place is made or broken by a fry. I've never had a fry FRIED as perfectly as these. I enjoys a crunchy exterior with that soft potatoey cloud of an interior and they hit the mark. I'm disappointed in myself for not taking pictures when the food arrived. Delicious all of it, just Devine!! Brussel sprouts, onion rings, Hot Pastrami, hamburgers. Almost forgot about the tuna salad to go, And pulled pork sandwich .We enjoyed the atmosphere, total chill vibe very inviting. The owners (assuming) came out to the table and chatted with us. We had my partners parents with us for an early diner. They both are 90 years old, and prefer well lit, quiet atmosphere. We ended up closing the place down. This place is aesthetically pleasing and the service was friendly. You order at the counter and then take a number to your table. The Cobb salad was beautifully presented and delicious. The gumbo was really overly salted which was the reason to the four stars instead of five. I would not order the gumbo again. Maybe if it had more flavor and a signature bbq sauce it would come together, but was not the case. We also purchased a hot chicken sandwich, meh, no spicy sauce to go with it, only a bland sirracha mayo sauce? that didn't enhance the flavor of the sandwich unfortunately. Was so looking forward to enjoying a quick lunch here. Had heard so many things about this place. When we walked In up to the counter, we were ignored for a solid two minutes. Ignored that do to lack of training. We decided to share the Philly cheesesteak and a medium order of potato salad. The sandwich came out fresh and hot, but was so salty we could not eat it without drinking a gallon of water. And the potato salad was underwhelming, especially at the price of $12 for a half a pound of potato salad. When we commented to the person at the counter about the quality of our food, we were confronted with less than desirable results. We did not want a refund of any sort, but thought that our constructive criticism would be met with more concern. Came here today for lunch after hearing a good review from my coworker, as well as seeing a food reviewer say it was a nice place! People working there were friendly, nice vibe inside. I ordered the chicken parm and patiently waited, then patiently waited some more. I noticed food taking a long time to come out and the employees bringing the food out apologizing about the long wait times even though it was not very busy in there. Luckily, I am a patient guy, after waiting probably a good 25 minutes I finally get my food. Presentation looked great, minus the 5 chips they give you, that was pretty off putting. It was like they poured the chips out of a bag and it was at the end of the bag and I only got several of them. I couldn't wait to get into the sandwich and first couple of bites were not bad! After that I noticed that the sandwich was extremely salty, and I like salt! But this was next level. I love chicken parm sandwiches and never have had an issue with them being super salty, as it just should not be that way. Of course I finished it all because I paid for it. The last couple bites it just tasted as if I was eating a salt sandwich. It was like whoever made the sandwich dumped the whole salt shaker on it by accident and was like, "This is fine." I do not understand who would try this sandwich and want to eat it again, unless you had a salt addiction. I may come back to try something else, but after tasting salt in my mouth all day and drinking a ton of water, I may not. Cannot reccommend this place off my initial experience. read more

Went to Roost for the second time today and just like my first visit, our food was fantastic. The cheese steak sandwich is a very tasty blend of perfectly seasoned beef and cheese on delicious bread. I have also had the Roost Chicken Sando and holy smokes, it was great.
