If a pretty place and good food is what you want then Meadow Ridge/Ridge Crest is for you. This is a fancy place with below average rehabilitation care. The activities and music performers are great and that was something that my mom enjoyed. However, There is Little to NO communication between Meadow ridge/ ridge crest and family. We requested meetings with the social worker, PT dept, nurses but most items we discussed weren't acted upon. We Requested phone calls when any issues happened or changes with medications, illness, etc. had come up. We did not get any calls except when they were sending her to the hospital. We would leave messages with concerns at the nurses station after numerous tries to speak to someone. We would not get a call back to answer our concerns. After our last call (which was never picked up at the nurses station so we had to leave a voicemail message) about a very serious concern we had noticed about my mom's health we did not get a call back. My mother ended up in the hospital a day later with a very serious infection that was almost fatal. The infection stemmed from another smaller one that could have been diagnosed and taken care of. We chose to send her to a different rehab after she left the hospital which wasn't any better. Care quality at the new place was average on a good day but that's another story. Is there any good care out there? And don't get me started about charging to hold a bed when the resident goes to the hospital. don't do it!!

My mother's sudden illness and my father's ongoing decrease in mobility created the situation that they could no longer live in a multi story house independently. We were so fortunate that they had looked into Brightview on New Canaan a month or so before my mother's illness. Within two weeks of the decision to move, and a week after my mother's return from the hospital, they were moved into a bright and sunny 2 bedroom apartment at Brightview. It was an emotional roller coaster for them and it took a team approach by the rest of the family to get all the furniture and their belongings moved in. The staff at Brightview are incredible and make sure that my parents feel valued and are safe and happy. Michele was indispensable in making the transition as smooth as possible. While my parents miss their house and all the living that went on it for 57 years, they now call Brightview their home. They have been there about a month. On my recent visit, I took them around town on errands. Upon return to Brightview and entering their apartment each time, they're expressions were of familiarity and contentment. They were home. We highly recommend Brightview on New Canaan as a loving place to live.

My Father in law has an apartment in Independent Living while both of my parents now live in the Memory Care unit. So we've experienced two different levels of need based care. I've found that the Spring Meadows staffers are very good. The nurses, the aids and even dining room staff really seem to care about the residents and try to make the difference to keep them engaged and make sure they're well cared for. I'll also add that the office staff and the general manager coordinate very well with us, the family members, to help with the details involved of having an aging parent who needs the assistance of this kind of facility. They are always helpful and respond promptly if I call with questions or requests. It's been a blessing to have my parents be able to live at Spring Meadows and get the good care that they need.

This was a very difficult decision as it was going to separate my mother from her husband. However, as I would soon learn, it became the very best choice I could have made. From my initial conversations with the Admissions Nurse Daneen, my mind was put at ease by her expertise, her overwhelming compassion and complete sense of caring about all aspects of the move. Soon after the move, I met Danielle, the head nurse of the wing where my mother was placed, and found the exact same wonderful and comforting set of values in her (I am able to talk with Danielle daily to get updates on my mother's condition). This was followed by the rest of the staff, who, again, continue to impress me in every way. Then the word of the Corona Virus made the news. Ridge Crest under the direction of Kim Held, the Director of Nursing, took decisive and immediate action and locked down the facility to all visitors. This was far in advance of other nursing facilities,and has played a pivotal role in keeping the facility safe. This meant my mother's husband and I would no longer be able to visit her. However, once again, the Ridge Crest team stepped up. They understood the social and emotional toll this would take on their residents and their loved ones. Through the staff's loving and compassionate ways they put the residents at ease, as well as their family and loved ones. I am able to be in regular contact with the nursing staff by phone, my mother via FaceTime (set up by the staff). I cannot imagine a better, safer, more professional and loving place to have placed my mother. Ridge Crest is simply an outstanding facility.

The day after the fall she screamed in pain if you tried to touch her. They ordered the x ray at 1:30pm, the tech came at around 3, she had broken her hip and needed to be transferred to the hospital. At 4pm they gave her an anti-coagulant before sending her to the hospital. The hospital told us they had to delay surgery because of the anti-coagulant. For 2 days my mother laid in pain and agony because of this place.

I looked around the Ground floor for help, but there was no one. I recommended that he press his emergency pendent, which he did. No one came. After five minutes, still no one came. More time passed. Still no one. I decided to go upstairs to the main desk to say someone needed help in the gym. They said they were aware of the emergency call but could not locate him. I then went downstairs and noticed a woman had finally arrived. However, she was rude, and ignored his request for a wheelchair, and began for forcefully push him backwards on his walker. When he mentioned his frustration about not being found after pushing the pendent, she just responded, "I'm here now." I said she arrived only because of me notifying the front desk, and she again slightly angrily repeated her statement. I was appalled at her attitude, but more importantly, her ignoring his request for a wheelchair, which he clearly needed. I went upstairs to reflect what I witnessed and to complain. I was then introduced to a manager. I said that I would hate to have my 84 year old mother treated this way if she had an emergency.

It was the only company that had a supervisor periodically visit to observe firsthand how things were going. Plus, it was reassuring to know that an RN oversees the caregivers. The caregiver placed with my dad, Alisha W., was truly amazing. She was extremely patient and upbeat when faced with challenging circumstances. She had such a great attitude and went above and beyond, whether it was taking him on fun outings, staying late to take him to a doctor's appointment (even when I said no problem to send him home in a taxi), or noticing when he had a new medical issue that needed attention. She was able to establish rapport and a meaningful relationship with him when most of his other relationships fell away due to his condition. She even managed to make him feel comfortable using some personal care products for the first time, which was quite a feat.I feel so lucky to have Alisha in my dad's life!
