We've really never had a bad meal here. We've had a few meals that were better than others. Post Covid, the service has varied from visit to visit. They still have a nice little early happy hour from 4 PM to 6 PM with drink specials and some appetizers in the bar. They do have nightly specials that they tend to post online midday. In the first I would say 15 years of coming, we used to get a free birthday dessert if you were, I think a member of their club or whatever, but I know there were other times that they used to ask if you were celebrating anything special when you were seated and for an anniversary, they would give us a free glass of champagne or dessert to share or something like that. I made a reservation for our anniversary online in advance , and I even mentioned in the comment box that we were celebrating our 33rd anniversary, but this time no mention of it from staff, so we didn't bother to mention it either. It was the Friday before Labor Day weekend and so they do tend to get busy by 5 o'clock, and the bar is typically full by 5 o'clock for happy hour. They only had two bartenders on, one of which was taking care of the tables so bar service was a little bit slow. It took us a little bit of time to pay before heading out to the hostess stand to get our table. Once we were seated at our table, it was close to 10 minutes before a young male server came by. I attribute this to back to school time when they've lost a lot of their employees and then of course being a Friday before a holiday weekend a lot of people bail out on work too. It is still our favorite restaurant in the area though so I'm keeping my five star rating. My husband had the chicken marsala which was delicious. I had a 6 ounce fillet with broccoli as my side. I had asked for medium rare and it was actually quite rare, I could've sent it back and had it cooked a little more, but I just ate it rare & it still tasted fine. We'll return in a few months for a birthday meal I'm sure. It's an old school classy vibe place, but still very casual. Varied menu & I like their steaks and I feel although steak is quite expensive right now that there's is actually more reasonably priced than some of the other local restaurants. It was fine but kinda bland. And it was dry. Needed some mustard in the worst way. The drinks were fine but the best thing about this place were the two gals who wanted to be at the Penguins game but were stuck watching it on TV. They got more and more worked up and more and more creative as they cursed every fan that won an autographed jersey. They were wishing calamity and destruction on the players, on the fans, even the city that the fans came from. By the end they would have beat up a boy scout or knocked over an old lady just to get one of those things. It was awesome. Thanks ladies. You saved the night.
