Came to Newberry for a concert at the Newberry Opera House one of favorite venues. Tried the Grille on Main. Had a wonderful lunch. Wife and I had the grilled chicken salad. She said the honey mustard dressing was the best. It was so good we returned for dinner. She had the lemon salmon which she said was perfectly grilled. I had another salad which sounds crazy it was also perfect. Great service from both servers. Only regret is they don't take reservations. Lunch server told us to get there @5:30 because they get full on Saturday. Food came out promptly. Highly recommend. read more

It saddens me to give Grille On Main a bad review. I ate there when they first opened (actually had breakfast there a few times. I still visit them occasionally wile I'm in Newberry. My wife and I met there because we really wanted fried pickles, and they were delicious. Things went downhill when we got our Cheeseburger and Fries. The Burger was so overcooked that it was hard. It also had no flavor. The Fries tasted like they were frozen and microwaved. Finally the Cole Slaw tasted like it was straight out of a can. I have to say that I've had their burgers before, several times in fact. They were never on par with Summers or Five Guys but they were decent. This last burger wasn't even as good as Hardee's. Like I said, the pickles were great. I have always enjoyed their Club Sandwich so maybe I will get that next time (if there is a next time). read more

Well this place is highly recommended but sadly understaffed. I don't blame the servers at all! Only 2 people bussing/waiting on all the patrons on a Saturday evening. The food was okay. A Friday night after 7, all tables filled except 2 that seemed too close to others so we chose to sit at bar which was empty. Friendly staff but would have felt more comfortable to see sanitizers out, less stools and an attempt to wipe down counter as we pulled up. We come here very often! We love the food and the staff is always so kind and attentive! We always love looking at the historic photos, etc. around in the dining area. Overall the atmosphere here made the place. This is a small town setting and this was a small town restaurant. The people were very friendly and the place had a very historic feel. The staff was accommodating and welcoming. However, the meals could have used some work. I had the chicken fingers, my wife the salmon special and my son had the chicken parmigiana. Of all the meals, my son's looked the best and seemed to be the best value. My wife's meal came with white rice and her comment was she would have preferred something more like a long grain rice. She did find the salmon well prepared. My meal I would say could have used the most work. The chicken fingers seemed liked frozen ones you might get off the kiddie menu. Nice little place to stop in for a bite to eat, they actually close between lunch and dinner- and we didn't realize until AFTER we had ordered, (sorry staff!). The food was good, the tomato basil chicken wrap is delicious, I wish it was just a tad larger, it was so good i'd have loved a bit more. Ordered the Smothered Chicken Breast and was disappointed in the lack of tenderness. The plastic fork that came with the to-go order was not strong enough to last sawing thru this meat to come up with a bite size portion. Very quaint location near our hotel. Staff was friendly and open to answering questions on the menu and history of the town. Food was good too! Restaurant closed at 2 after lunch and reopened at 5 for dinner. They didn't rush us but we felt like we should wrap up lunch, as we were last there. We will return. It was recommended to not try the Philly Cheese Steak so we had Club sandwiches, grilled wraps, and BLT. Everyone enjoyed their selections. read more

She took the orders from two other tables that came in after me, then cleaned a third table, and bussed a fourth. Now the place wasn't full and I saw no food come out to any tables while I waited. In fact the Owner came and sat with other customers. I finally left money for my drink, got up, grabbed my things, then the Waitress walked up! Our first time here and it was SUPERB! The vegetable soup as an appetizer was just like my Granny's. I had the philly cheesesteak and, unlike other restaurants, it actually had more meat than bread. My wife and I had eaten here before, and it was OK ... so we thought we'd try again for dinner. We arrived at about 5:10 pm last Friday and were promptly seated. The waitress gave us our menus and utensils and took our drink orders. When she returned with the drinks, we ordered ... my wife a cheese steak and onion rings, and a bacon pimento cheeseburger and fries for me. Other folks started to arrive, were seated and, after not too long, their dinner orders arrived ... but not ours. Upon seeing this, and at about 5:35 pm, I asked our waitress about our order status. She went back to the kitchen and then returned to the table to confirm our order ... and she said that she had put it in but didn't know what had happened to it, and she left. My wife was facing the kitchen area, so she then saw the waitress come through the door and start rooting through the bagged take-out orders on a counter near the door. After a few seconds, the waitress picked up one of the bags and went into the kitchen ... and returned in a few minutes with our plated orders. The waitress, not knowing that my wife saw her at the take-out counter, said nothing except "sorry for the delay." My cheeseburger looked like it had been run over by a truck, and every layer in the burger was ice cold. Although my wife's cheese steak looked OK, it, too, had icicles dripping from it. So ... after sitting on the take-out counter for about 25 minutes, we were expected to eat these things. Uh ... NO! I told the waitress that we would be leaving and asked if I owed her anything for the two iced teas. Instead of answering, she got the manager and, after I told him that we saw what had happened, and that the entire meal preparation should have started from scratch instead of just putting the cold food on a plate, he agreed and said we owed them nothing ... and we left. Had he been a real manager, he would have had the meal re-made and only charged us for one. It'll be a long, long time before we return. read more

The bar has a coffee area that appears to have spilled coffee stains, and unclean. The beer is not maintained at a proper temperature and has a green taste. Witnessed kitchen staff wiping down tables, bar, spills, and table scraps with the same cleaning cloth without sanitizing occasionally. Spaghetti marinara sauce tasted bland with hardly any flavor. Country fried steaks are tough to chew and overcooked. Salmon tastes frost bitten after it was cooked. Drinking glasses have a cloudy film that feels like stuck on grease to the touch. Utensils aren't completely clean with a greasy film on them as well. Overall, it was a very awful experience. Will not be returning. Additionally if there weren't any intellectual proprietary rights being broken, I would be more of assistance providing pictures on Yelp as a visual aid. read more

Have eaten here countless times over the past 8+ years. This is a great lunch spot. Most recently dined last week. My faves are the grilled chicken salad and the chicken salad sandwich. I have a little girl who can easily select something from the reasonably priced children's menu. My hubby always enjoys the patty melt special. Most sandwiches are accompanied by fries or chips with a crisp pickle - which makes for a satisfying lunch. The restaurant is housed in a old building and contains many interesting items and pictures that tell the history of the town.
