We eat at the Palms at least once a month. My husband likes the patty melt and fries. I prefer the French dip prime rib sandwich or fried green tomatoes over cheese grits. The Palms has a good selection of foods which includes sandwich or wraps, salads, steaks, seafood and weekly specials. The service is usually prompt and friendly. They have seats at the bar as well as a few booths close by for those who like to watch sporting events on the 4 TVs while dining. Stopped yesterday for lunch. Ordered mile high nachos which were good. i ordered chips and fish. The fish tasted like ground up fish , rolled and battered. Theyshould be crispy and white flakey . They were horrible. My wife ordered seafood platter, scallops were horible ann the breading fell off and the deviled crabs had no taste. To top the bad meal it came to over $ 80.00. We always enjoy finding random, local spots to eat when traveling and the menu here looked good for what we were in the mood for. We were quickly seated upon arriving. The staff here were super friendly and attentive. I ordered the broiled seafood combo with scallops and fish, my boyfriend ordered the fried seafood combo with clams and shrimp. I got rice and Caesar salad for my sides. The food came out pretty quickly. My salad was good, pretty standard Caesar. I liked the flavor and seasoning on my fish and scallops, but they were both kind of over cooked and rubbery. The rice was pretty good. My boyfriend enjoyed his food. I have said the Patty up was just OK. The collard greens he got for a side he said were really really good.we've eaten here several times before and they have quite the variety of items. Good restaurant although it was very very crowded on a Saturday. We were just passing through and stopped in Newberry for the night. It felt like this was the only restaurant for miles when we walked in. We waited about 30 min for a table. There were a TON of items on the menu. If you can't find something to eat, then I don't know what restaurant will please you! The service was great. She didn't rush us and was very polite. True southern hospitality. Parking was a little crazy with all the people but we were able to park on the grass in the back. Went in this evening for a nice dinner with my wife. We were seated fairly quick and received our drinks quick as well. We order nachos with chili, a burger for her and I ordered off the Valentines Day special menu and got a Chicken Marsala with Fettuccine. After waiting 30 mins we finally got our nachos. The chili was absolutely horrendous. It was basically sweet ground beef. The nachos had huge pieces of onions and barely anything else. We then waited a whole other hour and didn't even get our main entrees. I asked the waitress about the food and she said they were waiting on the Marsala. When the food came out, the Marsala looked like a cat threw up on my noodles. It was terrible. I told them to take it back. If you have a Chef in the back that doesn't know what they are doing or how to cook certain items, please don't put it on the menu. I've given this place multiple times to be good but it seems like every time it just gets worse. I understand the COVID situation and no one wants to work. But don't hire a a cook that can't cook. After so many rave reviews, my mother & I decided to stop by The Palms Grill & Bar after my college tour. We were sat down, served drinks and sat for 20 minutes and never had a waitress take our order, even though a table came in after us and sat in our same section and had their orders taken. This place was a pleasant surprise. We just happened to be in town and passed The Palms. My girlfriend and I were hungry and decided to make a U-Turn and try it out. So glad we did. She had the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. The waiter (who was awesome) recommended the Brussel Sprouts sauteed with bacon. They were delicious!!! I had the steak salad and it was wonderful. I love good Blue Cheese dressing and this stuff was nice and chunky. For an appetizer as soon as I saw "Raw Fries" on the menu I had to have some. You can't get them anywhere it is mainly a Central South Carolina delicacy... The best part of the meal were the drink prices. Cosmopolitans were only $4.00... Needless to say, next time I pass by Newberry I will stop in. I travel frequently between North Myrtle Beach and Western North Carolina. I've been coming to this great place for 14 years and the food, staff, drinks are the best in Newberry.

Have eaten here a few times. The menu is fairly extensive and they have seafood including things like ahi tuna, shrimp, clams etc and then there are steaks, ribs, chops, and a variety of salads, sandwiches and burgers. Basically, unless you have a taste for Mexican or Chinese, you should be able to find something on the menu you will like. The service was good when I was here. The lower rating is for the. Open dining in a diner like setting with the most boring bar area I have seen. With the palm trees and outside decor I was expecting a lot more inside. The food, however is still good but the atmosphere isn't the best. Not romantic or fancy in any way. The other ding would be for the pricing. I think overall, the pricing seems high for the ranking of restaurant. I travel a lot and eat out 20 days a month. The overall bang for the buck of off a bit here. First time trying the food today and I wasn't really pleased. But my server was very nice.

First off let me say, for those of you that do not follow me, very rarely do I venture off the beaten path when I travel. When I am on business I usually hit the Applebee's etc, because I know what I am going to get. In the very laid back town of Newberry SC there are no franchise restaurants except in the fast food department. Upon the recommendation of the front desk clerk at our Holiday Inn she recommended Palm Grill. Knowing that I stay at that hotel numerous times per year, I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I will say that I am extremely happy that I ventured out and gave this place a try. From the time we entered through the door we were greeted by Meagen the hostess with an exceptional smile. I felt at ease immediately thinking that this could be a great southern place to have some good food and great drinks! Ordered a standard sirlion steak med well with garlic mashed potatoes (huge stretch for me right....) The steak was OUTSTANDING! Perfectly done and seasoned to perfection! The reason there is not five stars here is that they serve mashed potatoes out of a bag. Hardly any garlic flavor and bland as h\% l. However, with the perfect steak and the service provided by TJ this place rates a solid 4 stars. I would be compelled to come back on the assurance that TJ would be my server! He is efficient, timely with asking about another drink, and not pushy with getting you to pay a check. He understands a group sitting here drinking is worth more than someone who eats and leaves. Only thing I would ask of this fine establishment is to ditch the bag and take the time to mash some of the potatoes that you already have. It may cost a little more but I certainly would not mind paying an extra dollar to eat real potatos. As usual I did not order desert because there was nothing on the menu less than 1000 calories. Honestly my only complaint would be that their drinks were a little on the pricey side, but the bartender did make a fantastic drink. So I couldn't not give a five star review! DINERS BEWARE!! Prices have been raised at least 25%. Be prepared to wait more than an hour to get your food (if you are lucky). We arrived at 6:20 and were seated when we got there. However it was a full hour before we received our appetizer. The potato skins were thrown on a plate with bacon crumbles scattered everywhere. Only 2 small condiment containers of sour cream were included. Fully 45 minutes later, we still had no meal. The manager on duty was extremely rude and unprofessional. She had stopped by our table to see how things were going during our hour wait for the disappointing potato skins. The only thing on the table was a Miller Lite beer which I pointed out to her, no food. She laughed and asked how that beer was... At least 4 different tables were seated, served and checked out, all while we still had not received our meal. We ended up leaving without eating. I had heard a lot of complaints about the food and service over the past couple of years but wanted to give the restaurant another try. Very disappointing way to spend an anniversary celebration. Will not return and will warn others about this horrible experience. Will no longer shop at the over-priced Palms Meat Market as well. Unacceptable... read more

This place was wonderful! Our party of 7 came here to celebrate my daughters birthday. We were able to make reservations in advance which made it nice for Friday night dining. We have family that live close and had been here once so we were not totally blind to the venue and the menu. The private parking made it easy to get in and out of the restaurant. Inside, the seating had plenty of space so you were not cramped or uncomfortable. We had Gracelyn as our server and she was wonderful- most importantly she was honest with her suggestions for our large party. We started with some drinks and when I mentioned I preferred sweet drinks, she suggested the liquid marijuana. Not sure why the name, because even though the drink was green it had a large representation of coconut- DELICIOUS! Others ordered margaritas and Bahama mamas. Our meals consisted of NY strip, shrimp and grits, Alfredo with chicken, nachos, southwestern chicken, and 2 got Alaskan crab legs. These dishes were all wonderful and the portions were large in comparison to other places we've eaten. The crab legs were $21 and I was only expecting 2 clusters...we got 4 and they were large and they were good eating (no butter required). The NY strip was cooked perfect and very tender. The shrimp and grits had an abundance of shrimp and the grits were cooked to perfection-not soggy or juicy and not too hard. We topped our meal off with a slice of cheesecake and 6 forks while the birthday girl enjoyed her complimentary apple pie. Loved the location, the staff and the food. We will be back! read more

My first visit here, while the food was good and I feel the menu was substantial I was highly disappointed in the service. Came in for lunch, waited 10 minutes to be seated, almost 5 minutes to have some one greet us and take a drink order. We immediately placed our food order since we had a significant amount of time to look over the menu while waiting to be greeted. 50 minutes later we received our food, would have asked our waitress about it if she would have been around to ask, however it was almost as if she was avoiding us. No apology for the delay or mention. Had to ask another waitress for a drink refill. Mind you they were not that busy. Not sure a trip back is in my future. read more
