Hands down one of our absolute local favorites. Every time we visit we leave with full bellies, great memories and pleased. I love their crab cakes! I really need to try something new, but it's my favorite. My kiddos love their steak and crab legs. We've always found the crab legs to be reasonably priced. We are in Chapin, three to four times a year. Visiting our son and DIL. Our favorite go to seafood restaurant is Catch 22. Food is always delicious, good service and the draft beer cold. The prices are reasonable compared to SoFlo. My favorite thing is their hush puppies. Perfectly fried and soft on the inside. We usually go for dinner. This time we were there for lunch. We ordered the special Mahi with a side of fries. My husband Mahi was served blackened, delicious fresh and perfectly cooked. I ordered the grouper bites with two sides, sautéd veggies and hush puppies. The grouper was fresh, plentiful. I usually order the fried green tomatoes and the hush puppies as a starter. We have also had the pasta and the crab cakes, equally delicious. Menu also offers burgers, sandwiches, wings and vegetarian options. There's outdoor seating. And parking in the back. We we recently had a delightful seafood dinner at Catch 22. After arriving without reservations, we were greeted warmly and shown to a comfortable booth. It was a Friday evening and the restaurant was quite full. Three of us ordered a fancy margarita--I believe it was coconut flavored. I ordered a glass of Riesling. It was surprisingly on the dry side, which I didn't mind at all. My wife didn't care for her margarita, and thus just confirmed once again that she does care for tequila-based drinks. For our entrées, D, his wife and I had seafood platters; his was deep fried, and mine was broiled. He got two seafood selections and I got three--oysters, shrimp and scallops. She went with a fried oyster platter. My broiled seafood was simply seasoned with Old Bay, but it worked for me. The oysters were sweet and lightly broiled. The shrimp was flavorful, as well as the scallops. While I didn't taste any deep fried seafood, the batter looked crunchy and lightly breaded. My wife had the she-crab soup, with a side of sherry, and she loved it. It was creamy, and was served with a dollop of crab on top. She also had a spinach salad with almonds and strawberries-- topped with baked salmon. The sides for our platters included sweet and white potato fries, and cole slaw. I was impressed with the price of my platter, how it was prepared, and the flavor. We opted for a unique desert--a gelato bomb. It consists of a ball of ice cream wrapped in chocolate cake. The hubs and I went here for dinner on Friday night because we were craving seafood. When we got there, there is only about a 10 minute wait so we decided to stay. A cute restaurant, but definitely a little crowded as far as space and very loud. We were greeted by a very lovely young lady who was our server. She told us all about the specials and was very helpful in recommending items off the menu. We ordered the crab cake appetizer, the choose two, fried shrimp and fried scallops and a teriyaki salmon special. The crabcakes were to die for! I wish now that I had ordered those as my meal. They were super flavorful and you could tell that they were handmade and not frozen. The fried shrimp was excellent as was the salmon special. The scallops were good, but I think next time I would order them broiled. We had one small issue, which I mentioned to another server. My husband ordered an old-fashioned to drink. When it came, the ball of ice, they used was too big for the glass. When he took the ice out, the amount of liquid (alcohol and such) Was equal to about maybe 3 tablespoons. For as much as we paid for that drink, there should've been more than two sips. When I mentioned it to the server, she was apologetic and said that the person behind the bar was training and that next time we should ask for her. This is really good seafood (and other stuff, but the seafood is my favorite). Service is great every time. The ambiance in the main area is quintessential calabash seafood restaurant. For a slightly more elevated atmosphere, try the bar or back terrace. I had a friend note that they run out of specials early; this is because the food is fresh and, when it's this good, there are rarely leftovers. Good cocktails and amazing desserts. This place was really good. Met our expectations and then some. We are down at Lake Murray for my kids bday weekend renting a boat and air b and b. We looked for a local seafood restaurant. We asked around and we got generic places around the lake to go, but 15 min away we'll worth it...okay now onto the food. I got the shrimp and grits...awesome. Shrimp tasted incredible. She crab soup, I ordered two bowls because it was amazing. My wife tried the crab cakes for the appetizer and that did not disappoint. She got the shrimp and scallop combo platter. Broiled scallops and fried shrimp cooked to perfection. She also got hush puppies. The kiddos got separate plates, blackened chicken Alfredo, ribeye, Cajun pasta (x2). The boys killed off their plates and said everything was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone not native to the area and if you are a local and haven't been there yet, you are missing out. A fantastic find in little 'ole Chapin. We went for a nice dinner out, it was a Tuesday, but prime time for eating and we were seated outside immediately. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. I asked for no butter or oil to be used and wasn't expecting a lot, but the seasoning and taste made my meal perfect and healthy! Love that they would accomodate. The prices were very reasonable ($18 for a choice of 2 broiled or fried seafood items + 2 sides) and my friends said the hush puppies are a 'not to be missed.' Will definitely be back! read more

I want to give this place 4 stars minimum. I really do. But I can't. First, the service was a little slow. Not horrible but it cost them a star. The big problem is the fact that they charge double for dinner for the same menu items they have for lunch. Not larger portions mind you, just larger prices (we were there for a very late lunch). Secondly; hushpuppies is considered a side. Every seafood I've ever been to treats it like bread (which it is). Finally; they charge more for using a credit card. Not that much but another nail in the coffin. As for the food, it was very good. We had fried flounder, shrimp and oysters. The food alone deserves a four. We tried this for the first time, me and my sister getting there near 11:30PM. We were immediately seated, and our waitress greeted us with a smile every time she came to the table. Made sure everything was good, gave us refills, just amazing and polite. We got there early, so the wait time on our food wasn't long at all. We were given an actual bottle of ketchup for our sweet potato fries, but we didn't use it though. Still, gotta appreciate the attentiveness of the waitress. Food was really good, blackened salmon just right; not undercooked and nor was it dry. It's really good with the lemon, and with me and my sister's sweet potato fries, they were nice and crispy. I had a side of veggies which were cooked good, and it consisted of yellow squash, zucchini, and onions. They are lightly seasoned with butter, but if you are the type that wants them seasoned a bit more, salt and pepper are available on the table. As for my sister's po' boy the fish was not overdone with a nice crunch, so nothing dry here. Definitely will be back again. read more

Wonderful food and service. We wanted to find a seafood restaurant near Lexington and I'm glad we stumbled into this place. I ordered the ahi tuna, my wife and a friend ordered the red snapper, and our other friend ordered a sampler platter. Everyone agreed this was much fresher and tastier seafood than we can find locally (near Augusta, GA) and this will definitely be a return trip next time we are in town. Drinks were also very good (mules are really impressive) and every worker we encountered was very nice and responsive. Only one complaint: very loud room. Maybe some curtains or sound treatment would help, but the sustained roar might be problematic for sensitive ears (my dad wouldn't be able to eat here due to his tinnitus). read more

We live in Chapin and can't believe how lucky we are to have such a high quality restaurant with incredible seafood and specials at such affordable prices. The staff is always super friendly and they take reservations. The meals have always been spectacular with the freshest seafood. There are multiple options for the spices. The garlic mashed potatoes are out of this world! The fish is cooked to perfection. Love, love, love this restaurant! And it's in a quiet little spot not far off route 26. Anyone traveling who might want a quality dinner would find this gem to be a welcome place to eat. We absolutely love this restaurant. The food is ALWAYS AMAZING and the prices could not be better, especially for their seafood. Also, we have always found their servers to be spot on. This last time we had a young man named Christian. If the restaurant ownership sees this post, you all need to give that young man a raise or a bonus or something. He is one of the best waiters we've had in ANY restaurant anywhere, so polite, welcoming, knowledgeable of the menu and right on top of our requests during the meal. If you haven't been to Catch 22, go soon, ask if Christian can wait on you, get the grouper bites for an app, and the shrimp and grits ask for your meal! You will not be disappointed. read more
